Birth date
[edit]Wait a minute, when was this guy born exactly? In the bio box, it says "January 23, 1975", but in the opening paragraph, it says "September 22, 1978". The official UFC bio site, lists the 22 Sep date, so that can likely be taken as official. -- phrawzty 02:19, August 13, 2005 (UTC)
- "September 22, 1978" as per PRIDE profile. Shawnc 12:32, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
MMA Record
[edit]I noticed that Takanori Gomi didn't have a proper table of his MMA Fight History, so I'll put one up. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by SuzukS (talk • contribs) 13:04, 17 February 2007 (UTC).
A couple of the dates for his fights are incorrect... The record shows him as having fought joachim hansen and BJ Penn on the same day. The hansen fight should be dated 2 months earlier at 8/10/2003. The table also lists his fights against Nick Ertl and Dokonjonosuke Mishima as having occurred on the same day, the obvious error being his fight against Mishima at the "year end event" which should be dated 12/14/2002. I didn't examine all of the dates, I simply caught these 2 errors because duplicate dates were used, someone else may want to scan the other entries for accuracy.Aeth3r 20:18, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
My bad, I got the info from Sherdog and in copying all his 30 fights I guess I made a simple mistake. It's fixed anyway. SuzukS 18:43, 14 August
Gomi's disown
[edit]The source of Gomi's disown was the interview published on "GONG KAKUTOGI" (Japanese martial arts magazine), so I wrote it downin the biography section. Sorry I forgot which back number tells about it. (It should be on number of before February 2005). --Yappakoredesho 17:59, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
Recent profile
[edit]Does anyone know what he's been up to lately in his personal life? Meaning, is he married, planning on fighting anytime soon, etc etc etc if anyone has info drop me a line at xxxshadowboxerxxx@yahoo.com thanks! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tinkerpunk (talk • contribs)
Mushinjuku Karate?
[edit]would it be valid to say that Gomi trains in Karate in his styles page? he's said it in 2 interviews and in best damn sports show (can't find link) he states that Karate is the reason for his striking accuracy

Catch "can" statement in introduction paragraph
[edit]Is "Catch as catch can" an actual wrestling term, or is is a sneaky edit by a troll. "Can" is a term for low level fighters, and I was wondering if someone snuck it in there to say that Gomi can only wrestle cans. I appologize if I am wrong.
- Catch-as-catch-can is simply another term for Catch Wrestling

Method does not match result.
[edit]The method "gogoplata (submission) can not result in a no contest (the listed result). The listed method should be what brought about the result (Diaz failing drug test). —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 75.2.200.118 (talk) 20:52, 23 April 2007 (UTC).
Mistake about Jens Pulver
[edit]Just an FYI: Jens Pulver only fought 4 times as a "professional boxer" before fighting Gomi. I think it could be considered unfair to say that Gomi "out-boxed" a pro boxer, as Pulver's main base is in grappling, and he's had only 4 pro boxing matches.
Therefore, I suggest deleting the line "Gomi, being known more for his wrestling and ground n' pound than his punching, out struck the former UFC champion and professional boxer."
Encrypted Soldier 16:29, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
Well If Jens does has participated in any professional boxing bouts then it is fair to comment that he was a "pro-boxer". It's not like they called him a "top boxing contender" or anything.. SuzukS 18:42, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:TakanoriGomi.jpg
[edit]Image:TakanoriGomi.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
