– With John Thune having just been elected Senate Majority Leader, it seems reasonable to re-examine whether there is a primary topic for this term. I would be comfortable with moving the current topic to a disambiguated title, or to its full name, Thunes Mekaniske Værksted A/S, which already redirects here. BD2412 T 19:37, 13 November 2024 (UTC)
- Support per nomination. With eleven names listed under Thune (surname) and four entries under Thune#Places, it does not appear that the 19th century-20th century Norwegian manufacturer, which has an entry in three other Wikipedias, holds such an indelible place in history as to dwarf the combined notability of all the remaining entries. If preferred by consensus, I would also support the alternative option Thune → Thunes Mekaniske Værksted A/S, thus avoiding the use of parenthetical qualifier "(company)". —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 01:30, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
- It seems doubtful that the average reader ever strongly associated this term with the company, it was obviously a surname in Norway as it is in the English-speaking world. Google Books search seems to show mainly references to people. Requiring that readers looking for biographies here click two or three times is bad navigation, even regardless of any single one becoming more prominent. WikiNav for October already showed the hatnote as the main outgoing click destination, which is a fair bit suspect. (Support) I suppose we're here because the move does require a cleanup of about 40 incoming links from other articles, which isn't huge, but still non-trivial. --Joy (talk) 09:40, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
- Support although it gets the most views of things called just "Thune" the views[[1]] have gone up recently which suggest people are looking for John however the company has only gone up a fraction of the views of John probably because of people using his full name or getting there via Google etc. Crouch, Swale (talk) 20:53, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
