1974 Jhb City Council
[edit]Surely not! I met him in 1980 when he was on the Wits University Student Representative Council. And, if the article is correct about his dob, he would have only turned 18 in 1974. Paul Beardsell 06:11, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
- You are correct, whoever took this information from his biogrpahy on the DA site missed the line "After qualifying as an attorney at the University of the Witwatersrand, where he was President of the Law Students' Council and Vice-President of the Students' Representative Council, he became a lecturer in the Law Department in 1986". Opposition parties in 1974
[edit]You claim that in 1974, the Progressive Party was one of the two only legal opposition parties in South Africa. This is not true. Their were many legal opposition parties in South Africa. What you meant is that their were two opposition parties in 1974 represented in parliament. Look up the rightwing Herstigte Nasionale Party for another opposition party in SA in 1974. There were quite a lot. There were also a lot of Coloured and Indian political parties that stood for elections in the Coulored and Indian representative chambers.
