The article on Erika Bergmann states both she and Juerss were released from prison: "After the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, Bergmann was still in prison in Hoheneck alongside Ulla Jürß, another female Nazi guard. They both petitioned for mercy and were released on probation in May 1991." It appears both spent 25+ years in prison in East Germany. Engr105th (talk) 23:54, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The idea that the SS would fire somebody for stealing from prisoners is laughable. They stole everything they could from their prisoners, who had no rights of any kind once they arrived in the camps. It's absurd to suggest that people who were comfortable stealing the gold teeth right out of prisoner's mouths and making lampshades out of their skin after they murdered them would demote somebody for stealing cigarettes from those same prisoners.
