[edit]Does the 'gameplay' section really need to use (mostly inaccurately) the word 'sprite' every 4th word? 81.178.240.100 09:56, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
- From memory, the game called enemies 'sprites', thus the usage is pretty much accurate. --59.167.229.83 (talk) 13:34, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
Why is 'cat spray' obscene? 81.99.42.93 18:53, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
- It typically refers to cat urine. 88.98.87.144 (talk) 14:43, 11 July 2018 (UTC)
Modes
[edit]single player? wizball c64 at least had a cooperative simultaneous multiplayer mode a bit like super mario galaxy in modern terms - one player controlling wizball and the other catellite. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.198.47.25 (talk) 14:11, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Wizball.gif
[edit]Image:Wizball.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Wizball outro
[edit]Thanks to the wonders of VICE, I have now played throughout the entire Commodore 64 version of Wizball without ever losing a life. I just made a snapshot of the entire system at regular intervals and if I died, I just reverted to the last snapshot. Now after that, I was a bit disappointed at the outro: just a static screen with sound effects that sound like the cat is crying in constant agony, and then the game starts over again. Not so much as a "well done" message. If I hadn't had the experience of completing all eight levels, I wouldn't even have known I did something right. Is this really all there is to it? Good work on the article! This is a strong C. On the whole the content is mostly there. Images are fine. Gameplay section is mostly fine: I would re-phrase the first paragraph to be more encyclopedic (e.g. "Wizball is set in the realm of Wizworld...") and remove the list other colours at the end (a bit too gameguide-y). The Development and Reception sections could do with some fleshing out, which I appreciate may be difficult with a game this age, but to get to the higher ratings the article needs to say e.g. why the game got such good reviews (beyond quoting a couple of reviews). The lead section could also be improved - see WP:LS. Beyond that, you just need to ensure everything is cited. Hope this helps! Una LagunaTalk 12:31, 26 September 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for the comments, they have made me want to go for a B. Stay tuned SHOlafsson (talk) 17:08, 27 September 2014 (UTC)
- Great to hear. I'll keep an eye on the article. Good luck! Una LagunaTalk 10:35, 28 September 2014 (UTC)
- An attempt has been made, wonder if the reception summary is enough? SHOlafsson (talk) 15:32, 5 October 2014 (UTC)
- Nice work so far. I think the Reception section could do with some streamlining to improve readability. For example, you could put all the mention of greatest lists together in one paragraph, then in the next paragraph discuss the praise the game receive, and after that mention any negative points. The content is there, but at the moment it feels like it jumps around a bit. I would also suggest trying to integrate the quotations in with the text to improve flow. There are quite a few good articles on Wikipedia which show what I mean better than I can explain it - here are a few that might help. Una LagunaTalk 16:23, 6 October 2014 (UTC)

- I feel that whenever I try to write on an article about a video game about what actually happens in the game, instead of just the game's history and reception from an outside view, the material gets deleted as "gameguide-y". I feel that any material about actually playing the game is "gameguide-y". It's not like I'm writing a hints&tips or solution guide section here. JIP | Talk 14:20, 8 October 2014 (UTC)
- When reading a part of a Gameplay section I always ask myself "if this section wasn't there, would the reader still understand how the game works?" And if the answer is yes, it probably shouldn't be in an encyclopedia article.
- At the end of the day, the purpose of a Wikipedia article is to give the reader an introductory overview to a subject. I learned this the hard way myself: after spending weeks writing an article I was told by a WP:VG assessor to reduce the article to half its original length. I'd gone overboard describing details of the game that wouldn't matter to anyone unless they were playing it themselves.
- When we talk about "gameguide"-esque material we generally refer to content that is only really useful to somebody playing the game. I think listing the effect of picking up different coloured paint blobs falls under this description: somebody who only ever reads the Wikipedia article for this game and never plays it will gain nothing by knowing that blue blobs do A and purple blobs do B. In contrast, if we didn't explain that the game is a side-scroller and that you have to shoot sprites and pick up paint droplets, then the reader would have no idea of what the game actually is about.
- Hope this clears things up, and if not, just say! Una LagunaTalk 19:21, 8 October 2014 (UTC)
- I did add the info to the C64 wiki which is linked to in the article (a proper gameguide) when I removed it. SHOlafsson (talk) 19:42, 14 October 2014 (UTC)
