... that Hampi world heritage site was the center of Vijayanagara – the world's second-largest medieval-era city after Beijing in 1500 CE?

Fascinating details on world heritage, on excellent sources, offline sources accepted AGF, no copyvio obvious. - I prefer the ALT to the complicated Indian name. The image is licensed, and the only one showing vastness, but possibly one with more clarity in detail (charioth?) would tell us more? I added a link to "medieval", instead of telling readers that it means an era which most of those who will be interested hopefully know. I also added a (pictured)-clause. - Gerda, please check where your links go. Medieval goes (of course) to Middle Ages, which (of course) is all about Europe. I have changed it to go to Medieval India, although this not ideal as the article explains that the best historians mostly stopped using that term several decades ago (as the ones of China are doing too, I think). - Thank you, learning. However, a link to just medieval India doesn't fit the claim which means worldwide. Perhaps better no link? Perhaps Medieval should better redirect to Middle Ages (disambiguation), or Medieval (disambiguation), to cover a broader meaning? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:24, 13 December 2017 (UTC)

- @Gerda Arendt: Yep, no linking would be my preference too. Multiple sources use the word 'medieval', and their sense is middle ages indeed (before about 1500). Johnbod is right in his concern. Another approach would be to replace that word, to something like ALT2. source This directly supports it, see last lines of p. 11 thru p. 12 (quote is above). Other sources too.
