- Article looks good. 5x expansion was performed when the subject died. The article was posted to ITN but as a "Recent Death", not a bolded news article, and therefore it retains its DYK eligibility. Article is well sourced but with German-language sources that I AGF for. Article appears to be written neutrally. All of the info presented in the hook is in the article and supported with inline citations. Is there a reason you used the spelling "Gizeh"? Not a significant matter. QPQ is provided. – Muboshgu (talk) 19:21, 4 July 2022 (UTC)
- I fixed the spelling mistake, sorry about that. Thank you for the review! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:11, 4 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Gerda Arendt: trying to promote, but I can't verify that he studied in Cairo? theleekycauldron (talk • contribs) (she/they) 10:51, 12 July 2022 (UTC)
- I duplicated the ref to that sentence. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:24, 12 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Gerda Arendt: I don't see anything about Cairo in that ref... theleekycauldron (talk • contribs) (she/they) 12:16, 13 July 2022 (UTC)
- I added two sourcs that mention Cairo (Kairo) but not studies. If that's not enough say Egypt (but where else than in the capital would a foreigner study?). Munfarid1, can you help?--Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:22, 13 July 2022 (UTC)
- Just deleted Cairo as the place of his studies, and kept Egypt, which is mentioned in the sources. Munfarid1 (talk) 15:47, 13 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Theleekycauldron: is this issue resolved? If so, can you readd the tick? Z1720 (talk) 17:53, 19 July 2022 (UTC)

- ALT0a: ... that the German guitarist Roman Bunka studied the Arabic oud (pictured playing) mainly in Egypt and played in the band of Mohamed Mounir, for example at the New Year's concert 2000 at the Pyramids of Giza? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:51, 19 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Muboshgu: as the original reviewer, are you able to approve this? (This will leave me open to promote it later). Z1720 (talk) 23:14, 19 July 2022 (UTC)

- @Gerda Arendt: I'm concerned that the hook phrasing is awkward. I'm suggesting an ALT below that removes some words and rearranges the information (although I don't think anything is removed).

- It's correct but misses that this was only one concert of many with band. But hopefully people will understand anyway. Munfarid1, what do you think. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:32, 21 July 2022 (UTC)
- I think, this hook is fine to attract people's attention. And then they will discover the whole story anyway. Munfarid1 (talk) 19:10, 24 July 2022 (UTC)

Apology not required, Z1720. In fact I need to apologize because clearly I goofed in giving the checkmark to ALT0a; the cited source makes no mention of a New Year's Eve concert. This is the revision I had reviewed and I must have AGF on the German-language source that is no longer supporting the NYE concert sentence. The hook should also say "concert in 2000". Please address that, Gerda Arendt. – Muboshgu (talk) 18:08, 28 July 2022 (UTC)
- I added two sources to the fact, the German (Bavarian Radio) that was there already but not in position, and one in English. I am not sure how say that the year 2000 was elcomed with that concert, and tried "2000 New Year's concert". Please help me with such things. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:13, 28 July 2022 (UTC)
- Newly placed source says
The year 2000 was launched with a live concert event in front of the Great Pyramids at Giza with Egyptian singer Mohamed Mounir.
So this is 1999 into 2000, not 2000 into 2001. Tbh I'm not sure the best way to phrase it either but that can be wordsmithed in the preps. – Muboshgu (talk) 21:38, 28 July 2022 (UTC)- Here's some ALT ideas:
- ALT0c: ... that the German guitarist Roman Bunka studied the Arabic oud (pictured playing) in Egypt and played in Mohamed Mounir's band at the Pyramids of Giza to celebrate entering the year 2000?
- ALT0d: ... that the German guitarist Roman Bunka studied the Arabic oud (pictured playing) in Egypt and played in Mohamed Mounir's band at the Pyramids of Giza for the year 2000 celebrations?
