Ubuntu Budgie (formerly Budgie-Remix) is an official community flavor of Ubuntu featuring budgie desktop. It combines stable and throughly tested Ubuntu core with modern, lightweight and traditional looking budgie desktop developed by Solus project.

History

  • Started as an unofficial community flavor in parallel with Ubuntu 16.04 LTS release.[2]
  • Released budgie-remix 16.10 by strictly following time frame issued for Ubuntu 16.10[3]
  • Recognized as an official community flavor Ubuntu.[4]
  • Hired Vincenzo Bovino as new Brand & PR Manager.[5]
  • Released Ubuntu Budgie 17.04 in April 2017[6]
