HIV
Thanks for the heads up, I guess. I didn't really care enough about the article to advocate for anything, especially when it happened over three months ago, but your courtesy message was appreciated. erc talk/contribs 10:01, 6 January 2011 (UTC)
Analytic Hierarchy Process
Thanks for putting the link into my caption. I tried it myself and failed (probably due to miscounting square brackets). I noted your Help Desk comments about putting the examples into subpages of talk pages. A few months ago, somebody suggested that we do that, and so far, it's working well (the examples were formerly in the article itself). The overall plan is to wait until the main article is finished and stable, then move the examples to a place on the Internet where they will be protected from editing. In the meantime, there's a lot of interaction between the main article and the examples, so it's very convenient to leave everything where it is. We hope that not too many people find it very objectionable. --Lou Sander (talk) 17:15, 17 January 2011 (UTC)
Re: Watchlist
From user talk:Killdec, "and seeing the flurry of 41 edits here in one day,"- I'd highly recommend turning off "Expand watchlist to show all changes, not just the most recent" in the watchlist preferences. With this on, it's nearly impossible to have AIV or ANI watchlisted, as they're updated every five seconds... --King Öomie 21:42, 8 February 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks, I know what you mean. I actually have this option on, but I also enable "Enhanced recent changes (requires JavaScript)" in the "recent changes" tab in preferences. This groups all changes to one page on a single line, with the option of expanding the line to see all those changes grouped together. So you can still watch busy pages without overwhelming your watchlist. Adrian J. Hunter(talk•contribs) 03:30, 9 February 2011 (UTC)
- Hey, I hadn't seen that! Thanks. --King Öomie 06:05, 9 February 2011 (UTC)
- It seems many people don't know about that. I should probably suggest to the devs that the option is duplicated or linked or something under the watchlist tab. Adrian J. Hunter(talk•contribs) 08:43, 9 February 2011 (UTC)

March 2011 Backlog Elimination Drive
Hi. On behalf of the Guild of Copy Editors, I am inviting you to sign up for our March Backlog Elimination Drive. Win a barnstar! It's fun. --Diannaa (Talk) 01:46, 28 February 2011 (UTC)
Hey you're a biologist
What a cool subject! I'm listening to biology lectures from the Teaching Company -- so much has been learned over the past 30 years! When I was in high school, the Jacob-Monod hypothesis was being worked out; now it's AMAZING how much biologists know about how proteins fit together, molecules attract, how charges push along on a neuron -- so totally amazingly cool!--Tomwsulcer (talk) 16:29, 12 March 2011 (UTC)
Penile and testicular Agenesis
Thanxxx4 coming back 2me Adrian. Sorry 4my over-reaction but I was panicking, I had just hours to prepare the page 4 a third party. I needed this page 2B layman-friendly years ago, because I had 2have a point of reference 4sceptics, to avoid having 2visually hang my perineum out 2dry everywhere I went. I am a naturist but far from a "flasher". It then obviously extrapolated into a solitary public source of information 4 every1 on a rare disorder that is nonetheless not unique in the world.
I eventually found my stuff on the transplant but it was not particularly agenesis-related, so I just referred 2 it. The tract on physical appearance is absolutely vital in a visually stimulated society.
What I cannot understand now (and mayB U can explain) is after the first several saves were prohibited, why, when I returned 2 the page and posted exactly the same text, it accepted it. U say the word "penis" block saving, but it did not the second time.
What happened?
I guess I need 2know, because it is bound2 crop up again somewhere. For a good example, I am an organiser of the World Naked Bike Ride and have been asked to add stuff 2their wiki! There is a participation of millions worldwide; technical hiccups or misunderstandings cannotB allowed to adversely affect that.
Now I have a second page and have read in 2 places that it cannotB deleted. So what do I do now with a blank page called "Penile Agenesis & Testicular Agenesis"
Why, oh-why, oh-why isn't this as easy as HTML?
Regards,

Water damage classification
Hi Adrian, thanks for all your contributions to Wikipedia. I wanted to get back to you on your edit to "water damage" and let you know that Classes of water damage (1 - 4) are an integral part of water damage to buildings - it's just as important as categories. This can be found in the IICRC S500 (“The Standard and Reference Guide for Professional Water Damage Restoration”, it is the Standard of Care for the water damage restoration industry). Here's a link to another Wikipedia page too - Classes of water damage. I'm going to undo your previous delete under "water damage" and provide a deep link (thanks for the advice on providing a deep link). Puroclean sacramento (talk) 20:06, 30 April 2011 (UTC)

Hi. We clashed over this article a little over a year ago. We both seem to be stalking the page, but you've taken more interest in the page than I have. I just wanted to commend you for your ability to remain neutral despite our disagreement. You've done an excellent job patrolling the article. I hope this isnt coming out wrong and you get my point. Anyway, here's a cookie.--v/r - TP 01:09, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
TParis has given you a cookie! Cookies promote WikiLove and hopefully this one has made your day better. You can Spread the "WikiLove" by giving someone else a cookie, whether it be someone you have had disagreements with in the past or a good friend.
To spread the goodness of cookies, you can add {{subst:Cookie}} to someone's talk page with a friendly message, or eat this cookie on the giver's talk page with {{subst:munch}}!
- Meh, maybe clashed was the wrong word. I tend to have trouble with words sometimes. Surprisingly, I want to be a writer, lol!--v/r - TP 01:25, 22 May 2011 (UTC)
Michael Bay
What do I do when a contributor destroys months and months of work by deleting huge sections of an article, such as Nightscream has done to Michael Bay? A bot did an automatic change right after so I cannot reverse all the damage this person has done. This was well-researched material and I am literally in tears over this. The Red Queen (talk) 07:28, 4 June 2011 (UTC)
I see what you're saying about the edit view. It looks like its been deleted when it has only been moved (and the editor's comment was sort of hostile, which scared me). Thanks for clearing that up. I don't use any of the tools at all, but I should obviously start! The Red Queen (talk) 16:42, 6 June 2011 (UTC)

Meetup 12 June 2011
Hi! I just wanted to let you know that Liam Wyatt is in town, so we were thinking of doing a quick meetup at Brunelli's cafe in Rundle Street (at the Rundle Mall end, near the car park) at 6pm on Sunday, with a possibility of drinks afterwards. So if you're interested we hope to see you there. :) - Bilby (talk) 21:36, 9 June 2011 (UTC)

GOCE drive invitation
Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors
The latest GOCE backlog elimination drive is under way! It began on 1 July and so far 18 people have signed up to help us reduce the number of articles in need of copyediting. This drive will give a 50% bonus for articles edited from the GOCE requests page. Although we have cleared the backlog of 2009 articles there are still 3,935 articles needing copyediting and any help, no matter how small, would be appreciated. We are appealing to all GOCE members, and any other editors who wish to participate, to come and help us reduce the number of articles needing copyediting, as well as the backlog of requests. If you have not signed up yet, why not take a look at the current signatories and help us by adding your name and copyediting a few articles. Barnstars will be given to anyone who edits more than 4,000 words, with special awards for the top 5 in the categories: "Number of articles", "Number of words", and "Number of articles of over 5,000 words". |
