- Not so. It was deleted because Wikipedia is not to be used for advertising. Also there are limits on what you can put in your user page. Please remember to start a new section in Talk Pages with a section header, else they get lost in the shuffle. -- Alexf(talk) 12:48, 5 January 2021 (UTC)
Edit got deleted
The subject I wrote about is recently published by many national and international news media agencies like yahoo news, MSN, ANI, TOI, DNA, DailyHunt, India TV, Zee5, Kashmir Reader and many more. He's a notable person as clearly seen on Google search engine but has no Wikipedia page. So, I thought I might add him to Jammu and Kashmir artist's list but the moment I edited the page it go deleted within seconds. Can you please help me out? UriBoyka10 (talk) 19:37, 9 January 2021 (UTC)
- As the Edit Page clearly states: "No red links or un-linked entries. Every entry in this list must have an article written in the English Wikipedia, with reliable sources to support inclusion, else it will be removed without warning." You seem to have disregarded that prominent notice. Please read the clear explanations linked from that page: Wikipedia:Write the article first. If you need instructions on this see: Help:Your first article. If you need the complete set, you can read the help pages. If you have any questions about Wikipedia, please ask at the Tea House. -- Alexf(talk) 19:51, 9 January 2021 (UTC)

User Vandalism 73,18,218,180
Hello! I saw that you blocked the user: 73,18,218,180 for insistent vandalism. Although its blockade has already been lifted, the user has recently and erroneously changed the dates of birth, death and administration of several colonial mayors of San Antonio, Texas, who ruled in the 18th and early 19th centuries, without any source: He did so in the List of mayors of San Antonio, and in articles such as that of Juan Leal or Simón de Arocha, among others. The user has already been blocked several times for continuous vandalism but he keeps committing the same action. So I think something has to be done with him.
Greetings!--Isinbill (talk) 19:44, 12 January 2021 (UTC)
- Yup. Everything I've checked ahs been the same sort of vandalism )bogus changes to biography dates). Left an only warning but looking a the number of edits I think this justifies and immediate block for continued v after a block. Meters (talk) 20:54, 12 January 2021 (UTC)

User Talk Pages
I guess you are "just doing your job" and thank you for your selfless service on behalf of Wikipedia and the "new page patrol" that does often go without thanks. I know it is a tough job that somebody needs to do. There are trolls and asshats that can crawl under your skin who do real damage to this project, and your efforts really do make this on the whole a better place.
I would hope that you would give a whole lot of latitude though toward using your administrator tools on user talk pages of all things. I know what I was doing was a bit shady I guess from somebody being really hardcore about Wikipedia policies, although in general I would suggest that you try to at least treat stuff added to the user space by the user themselves as more of a sandbox than doing a hard slap across the face and treating that new user as an idiot. I sincerely hope that you welcome and encourage participation on Wikipedia too and don't bury them under rules. And remember: WP:IAR from time to time :) --RSHorning (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 14:14, 8 February 2021 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for February 10
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Davincci Lourenço de Almeida, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Brazilian. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 06:10, 10 February 2021 (UTC)
Hi! I've taken the liberty of unblocking this IP; it was indeed editing properly and helpfully, and if the edits had come from a registered account the filters wouldn't have been triggered. --jpgordon𝄢𝄆 𝄐𝄇 02:11, 15 February 2021 (UTC)

Question about revdel
Hi Alexf. I noticed that you used revdel to hide this spam link. I'm not exactly complaining, but my interpretation of WP:REVDEL is actually that we shouldn't use it to hide mere spam links
. In some cases, it may actually be beneficial for non-admins to have access to the historical revisions so they can point to them as evidence for blacklisting URLs. WP:RD5 is a really nebulous criterion, and to be honest, it's not that clear to me what it means. I suspect, however, that the community probably would not support interpreting RD5 to mean that just any bare spam link can be revdelled at admin discretion. What do you think? Mz7 (talk) 19:04, 18 February 2021 (UTC)
- You may be right. I do not like spammers, and think that they should not be rewarded with publishing their links. Leaving them open in previous versions opens up dangers of people clicking, and either the spammer gets rewarded with clicks, or in the worst case scenario, they are malicious sites. As said, maybe your interpretation is correct, so I wont be doing it as in this case, going forward. -- Alexf(talk) 19:17, 18 February 2021 (UTC)
I was about to decline the report but edit conflicted: the edits look good faith IMO (e.g. adding a DOB with a reference), and may reflect inexperience more than blatant vandalism. You may be more familiar with the case but just wanted to add my 2 cents after reviewing the user's edit history. SpencerT•C 17:23, 23 February 2021 (UTC)
- @Spencer: - I am not familiar with the user but this edit [2] shows a user not here, if not pure vandalism. -- Alexf(talk) 17:29, 23 February 2021 (UTC)
The deleting of Niles Schilder
I am asking about a page that was deleted in May 2020 about Niles Schilder, I have no connection with the person in question but I do know that he is very well known especially in Suffolk which is were he lives. When the page was created it was not referenced correctly and was taken down, this is a problem I intend to put right therefore I would be very happy if you could reinstate the page, thank you. 2.102.223.248 (talk) 15:08, 28 February 2021 (UTC)
- You should always try to supply a link to the page to make it easier to find such and old page. In this case the page was empty. It was created by User:Niles Schilder and just contained the name. That's it. Nothing there to userfy. Note the user was blocked indefinitely for abuse of editing privileges and socking. If you want to start a draft, you will have to start from scratch. May I suggest if you do, to consider creating an account? It is not usually advisable to create a subpage in a shared IP account that you have no control of. -- Alexf(talk) 16:24, 28 February 2021 (UTC)

Please delete page
Hello, I've just been wondering how to delete the Wikipedia page I created, but I've been having struggles considering an administrator needs to adjust that for me. If you by any chance could delete the https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Andy_Patelesio.jpg or just search up Andy Patelesio and it will be the first image on google, under the name file:Andy_Patelesio.jpg – Wikimedia Commons.
Thank you very much. Have a Lovely day and hope to hear from you soon115.188.81.228 (talk) 22:14, 28 February 2021 (UTC)
- That page is (was) in Commons. The request has to be made for a Commons Admin. I see it has been deleted already. Please start a new section with a section title (I added one), else it mixes with whatever was there before and gets lost in the test. -- Alexf(talk) 22:37, 28 February 2021 (UTC)

- A request for comment is open that proposes a process for the community to revoke administrative permissions. This follows a 2019 RfC in favor of creating one such a policy.
- A request for comment is in progress to remove F7 (invalid fair-use claim) subcriterion a, which covers immediate deletion of non-free media with invalid fair-use tags.
- A request for comment seeks to grant page movers the
delete-redirect
userright, which allows moving a page over a single-revision redirect, regardless of that redirect's target. The full proposal is at Wikipedia:Page mover/delete-redirect. - A request for comment asks if sysops may
place the General sanctions/Coronavirus disease 2019 editnotice template on pages in scope that do not have page-specific sanctions
? - There is a discussion in progress concerning automatic protection of each day's featured article with Pending Changes protection.
- When blocking an IPv6 address with Twinkle, there is now a checkbox with the option to just block the /64 range. When doing so, you can still leave a block template on the initial, single IP address' talkpage.
- When protecting a page with Twinkle, you can now add a note if doing so was in response to a request at WP:RfPP, and even link to the specific revision.
- There have been a number of reported issues with Pending Changes. Most problems setting protection appear to have been resolved (phab:T273317) but other issues with autoaccepting edits persist (phab:T275322).
- By motion, the discretionary sanctions originally authorized under the GamerGate case are now authorized under a new Gender and sexuality case, with sanctions
authorized for all edits about, and all pages related to, any gender-related dispute or controversy and associated people.
Sanctions issued under GamerGate are now considered Gender and sexuality sanctions. - The Kurds and Kurdistan case was closed, authorizing standard discretionary sanctions for

Cleaned up your vandalism of Babu Chotelal Shrivastava
I recently edited Babu Chotelal Shrivastava to restore the original birth year from obvious vandal edits. I was shocked to find that the most recent such edit [7] was done by an administrator with over 170,000 edits in 17 years of editing.
Even a cursory reading of the article shows that your change could not possibly be correct. Indeed, this link [8] shows that two vandals defaced an article that was already in fairly bad shape. Good faith editors eventually cleaned up most of the damage but the linked edits remained.
Please make sure to actually read articles before you make changes to them. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2603:6080:660E:EDE0:E827:9D4B:3E61:4271 (talk) 22:00, 17 April 2021 (UTC)

Sniff test
Hi Alexf. You blocked TKS teaching and deleted their promotional draft Draft:TKS teaching. A little over two hours later, a new account (David Combs) appears and re-creates it, only to be deleted again by Liz after I'd nominated it for G11. David Combs then created it again.
He left a message on my talk page, so I replied and asked him if he had any affiliation to the draft's subject or the blocked account. He replied that he did not, but I'm not sure I buy that explanation. Is there enough here for a SPI? --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 17:44, 14 June 2021 (UTC)

On [9], could you please explain what had been wrong to describe the two tunnels in the same direction, be it north–south or south–north? Citobun had insisted to put them in different directions, i.e., one in a north–south direction and the either south–north (not to mention his omission of the word "Centre" and "stations") and I genuinely don't think that's desirable.
