User page

[edit]

Portal style user pages seem to be becoming quite popular ( ;-) I like them too) but isn't it time that you try to fix that Wikipedia logo image? It seems to jump to the left when I look at it...unless you use a different browser...--The preceding comment was signed by User:Sp3000 (talkcontribs) 09:26, 3 March 2007 (UTC) I use Explorer, with it the image jumps past your picture for "photography for Wikipedia" and disappears. --The preceding comment was signed by User:Sp3000 (talkcontribs) 09:35, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Howdy!

[edit]

Hi AndonicO; I saw the email. I just forgot to reply, I feel so silly...hopefully you will forgive me :). Well here are my thoughts about your "concern", The thing is "Wikipedia is changing"; what you are worried about is not as important as it used to be. Remember this guy? A couple of months ago he would be shot down for not participating in a lot of AFD's, but now I guess it is not as important. He passed with amazing results; Wikipedians everywhere are realizing that not all admins close "AFD"s. So I think it is safe to give it a go; what do you have to lose...all you have is to gain :D. And about the userpage; it is for personal reasons that I deleted it and made it simple. Really for security reasons; hopefully you can understand. Hope life/wiki is treating you well! Regards, ~ Arjun 19:59, 7 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Btw; I got a decent point and shoot camera just a couple days ago; look at my most recent shot with it. [1]. Let me know what you think! ~ Arjun 20:02, 7 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm...if I have never made an edit to WP:SSP; as I try to stay clear of sockpuppetes. Odd I know yes but most of my work is vandal-related (i.e AIV, RFPP, CAT:CSD]]) and many others. So I still think you would pass; but it is your choice, ah and yes the Piano is part of the family :). ~ Arjun 21:45, 7 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm Back

[edit]

I am back from going through a period of being inactive!!! I feel great now! I was having a lot of stress here and in Rl but now I am fine. I will be more active but I do not think my activity will be as high as before. Have a nice week and god bless. --James, La gloria è a dio 03:28, 8 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, my stress level right now is very low. For me the last straw was wikireligion. Around that time I had a little stress in real life and a lot here. This guy, Seven of Nine, tried to push my buttons at wikireligion. He questioned my every move, was very negative, and did not make any positive contributions at wikireligion. On his User page he wrote "I am tired of telling children about trying to run a wiki." I thought this was pretty rude so I deleted it and I made a policy against rude comments on user space. It is common sense not to put rude comments on user pages. He charged me with expos facto. He made a big deal over nothing at all.Even after this little thing he still kept on harrasing me. I got fed up and blocked him. After this I leave the wiki for a while and even after he was sending me rude emails. Because of all this crap I do not think I can run for sysop here at wikipedia even though almost all of the time I have shown civility. Peace. --James, La gloria è a dio 00:58, 9 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I did to one. He asked if I have ADD and I said no. --James, La gloria è a dio 01:34, 9 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
He is doing it again and is pretty close to being out of control I think. He will get 5 warning before getting a block. He is a troll. --James, La gloria è a dio 14:43, 9 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm there just to help change the leadership over to RuyGuy. If he gives up I will take over again. I do not plan to stay there, it is hell there. :) --James, La gloria è a dio 14:49, 9 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
For now I have given RyGuy the job of setting up the place. I just do not have the time to. Now it seems as if everyone is seeing that Seven of Nine is plain old out of control. --James, La gloria è a dio 21:42, 9 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

When doing AIV, we can only handle users that have vandalized recently after a last warning (generally, in the last hour). The only edit from that IP recently is the request to have it blocked-we generally won't do that, as it can be abused, unless the network admin sends an email to WP:OTRS. OTRS is equipped to verify that the person making the request really is authorized to do so, but we're not. Seraphimblade Talk to me 12:35, 29 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Assessing

[edit]

Well...

  • Defining articles of the strategy genre should be top (strategy game, risk, starcraft).
  • Important games (spawned a series, changed the genre, added to gameplay) should be high.
  • Unless a sequel or game does something awesome (like Dune 2, which defined the genre and should be top or high) a sequel in a series or varation on game should be mid (like Chess variant).
  • Rules about games, expansion packs or obscure varations not worth mid should be low.

What do you think?--Clyde (talk) 18:07, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think a "game" in general could easily fit in any of the categories; it's more on a case by case basis. For example, I just rated School Tycoon as low, even though it is a game (and could be mid). I don't think we want every single game in a series as high, simply because all of those games aren't worth being in a paper encyclopedia. The first game should have a legacy section that says it had some sequels. However, not all of those sequels should have a complete article in a paper encyclopedia. In that sense, maybe the sequels should only be mid or low if they are not extremely important (in other words game by game basis).
As to the Total War series, I think it should be as you said. Be careful of how much you rate top and high though. According to the index of all the ratings, the ratios of top:high:mid:low is 6:15:47:68 or about 1:3:8:11. hmmm... I need to think about this, because we need to adjust our system a little. It's going to end up being 1:2:1:1 or something like that--Clyde (talk) 20:04, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Can I be your friend?

Hello Andonic.

WikiProject Strategy games finished it's first collaboration on Risk (game). We have voted for possible candidates for the next collaboration, and three finalists have been selected:

  1. . Stronghold (2001 game)
  2. . Age of Empires
  3. . Age of Empires II

If possible, please vote here on which of these articles to collaborate on. Thank you.
