Non-free rationale for File:Aniiml.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Aniiml.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F6 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 18:29, 29 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright problem icon Your addition to Draft:Oh Awe has been removed in whole or in part, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. If you are the copyright holder, please read Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for more information on uploading your material to Wikipedia. For legal reasons, Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted material, including text or images from print publications or from other websites, without an appropriate and verifiable license. All such contributions will be deleted. You may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but not as a source of content, such as sentences or images—you must write using your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously and persistent violators of our copyright policy will be blocked from editing. See Wikipedia:Copying text from other sources for more information. Copied from https://plnkwifi.com/2019/09/27/aniiml-oh-awe/ Whpq (talk) 20:17, 29 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:Heart Machine (Aniiml album) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://aniimlmusic.bandcamp.com/album/we-animals-2. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Information icon

Hello Anonamemouse. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially egregious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat SEO.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists, and if it does not, from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Anonamemouse. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Anonamemouse|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Whpq (talk) 21:20, 29 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

In particular you wrote "Please allow me to correct the infringing parts of the text before the page is deleted. I was given the text and did not check thoroughly enough where it came from --Anonamemouse (talk) 20:58, 29 December 2019 (UTC)" at Draft talk:Heart Machine (Aniiml album). Who and why were you given text to add? -- Whpq (talk) 21:22, 29 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Whpq, I am NOT paid or in any other way receive compensation for the work I do on these pages. I am just a fan and for the provided information have to rely on internet sources and fellow fans that send me material via email and other communication platforms. The quote was apparently copied, without stating where it was copied from. This is my mistake, I should have checked. As mentioned earlier, I am new to this and the learning curve is pretty steep. I do understand the standpoint of Wikipedia and agree with it. Unfortunately it also seems that there is no mercy for newbies who really are trying to create an addition to Wikipedia... Anonamemouse (talk) 21:40, 29 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It may seem there is no mercy for those new to Wikipedia, but you ran into one of the things that have legal implications, that is copyrights. Also, creating an article is significantly more difficult than editing an existing article. You may want to consider getting familiar with editing by working to improve existing articles. In addition to the advice provided below, you might also want to read through Help:Your first article. -- Whpq (talk) 01:25, 30 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Notability

[edit]

Hello Anonamemouse. We appreciate your efforts to create articles for an artist of which you're a fan. However, Wikipedia is selective about the topics it includes; a person or thing must meet Wikipedia's definition of notability to be considered worthy of inclusion. A topic is considered notable if it has already gained sufficiently significant attention by the world at large and over a period of time, and are not outside the scope of Wikipedia. We consider evidence from reliable and independent sources to gauge this attention.

For musical artists, there are more refined criteria at Wikipedia:Notability (music)#Criteria for musicians and ensembles. The sources you cite are crucial to demonstrating notability - self-published sources such as Last.fm lack the editorial oversight to be considered reliable. Other sources that are disqualified would be blogs, social media and message boards. A list of commonly cited sources is maintained at Wikipedia:WikiProject Albums/Sources, with comments on which ones are considered reliable and which are not.

Please note that creating new articles is one of the most difficult tasks for a new editor, and can be discouraging if your initial efforts are refused. I would encourage you to follow some of the links in the welcome message at the top of this page, to help you become more familiar with Wikipedia's policies and editing culture. Good luck. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 23:32, 29 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
