If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:Cybersecurity Canon requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.csoonline.com/article/3186702/introducing-the-cybersecurity-canon.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Hi Kylie - sorry for that. Can I start this from scratch? I am trying to create the page for the Canon, a non-profit group. I will make 100% moving forward to be very careful. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Benrothke (talkcontribs)

October 2021[edit]

Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment, or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. Drm310 🍁 (talk) 15:29, 20 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Benrothke. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Draft:Cybersecurity Canon, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Drm310 🍁 (talk) 15:30, 20 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the update.

I am indeed a member of the Cyber Security Canon, a non-profit group where none of the members get any type of money for it.

With that, is there a way a Cyber Security Canon page be created by members of the Canon and be 100% compliant with Wikipedia rules?

Your draft article, Draft:Cybersecurity Canon[edit]

Hello, Benrothke. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Cybersecurity Canon".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been deleted. If you plan on working on it further and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Liz Read! Talk! 15:53, 20 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest + external links[edit]

Hi! In your recent edits, it looks like you updated a few mentions of your name with a link to your website, and I've reverted those edits, so I wanted to explain why and offer my help. In most cases, the main text of Wikipedia articles shouldn't include direct links to external websites. You can read the whole explanation of why at Wikipedia:External links. There's also a more specific explanation here about links related to promoting something: Wikipedia:Spam#External link spamming.

I would also recommend not directly editing any content related to yourself - instead, it's best to post a suggestion on the article's "talk" page, so that an uninvolved editor can review the suggestion and implement it if appropriate. Check out Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide for background info on that.

Feel free to post on my talk page if you have questions! I don't want to discourage you from editing Wikipedia in general. Dreamyshade (talk) 19:58, 5 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
