Notability of Andrea (singer)

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Andrea (singer), by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Andrea (singer) seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Andrea (singer), please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Hiya. I've moved it to User:Bharathprime/Sandbox where you can add your new stuff and then move back to the mainspace. Hope that helps! Pedro :  Chat  07:40, 13 November 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Thevar Magan screenshot.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Thevar Magan screenshot.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:46, 23 November 2008 (UTC)

Hello, Fellow de-orphaner!

I noticed you added your name to the list of participants in WikiProject Orphanage. We really appreciate your help! The first things you could do to get started with us are:

  1. Read the Wikipedia:WikiProject Orphanage page, especially the section marked "Criteria". The page contains a lot of good advice to get you started, as well as the standard procedures we are using to de-orphan articles.
  2. Look at {{orphan}},{{do-attempt}}, and {{articleissues}} closely and make sure you know how to use them correctly. (It's not difficult, but it is easy to screw up. Trust me, I have.)
  3. Keep de-orphaning! Category:Orphaned articles contains all orphaned articles organized by month. Right now we're just trying to keep up with all the new orphans being created, so please start with the current monthly category. Once those are cleared out, we can start working on the backlog in reverse-chronological order.
Of course, you may have already known all of this, in which case sorry for the spam. Either way, let me know if there's any way I can help you contribute more to the project!

B-class rating

Bharath, please don't rate articles as B-class unless they are substantially complete as per the film style guidelines. Most of your promotions don't even qualify for Start-class rating, and require large additions of information: mainly complete plot synopsis (including the ending), and referenced sections regarding the production and reception of the film. The project banner contains further information regarding this in the Improving This Article section, which can help guide you in article construction. However, filling out a B-class review and asserting that these articles are comprehensive and complete is manifestly wrong and opens you up to suspicion of bad faith editing or gaming the system, which I'm sure was not your intention. Thanks, Girolamo Savonarola (talk) 15:58, 2 December 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for your inputs, I have now gone trough film style guidelines and will ensure same/similar styles are followed. Bharathprime (talk) 17:24, 2 December 2008 (UTC)

Ghastliness

I have no idea what your personal taste in clothing and apparel is but I have never heard sea blue-green and white ever called "ghastly" as you so wonderfully put it before. Perhaps if the background was bright pink with brown writing and orange underneath. Blue and white is a very popular combination and work well together. The Bald One White cat 14:48, 15 December 2008 (UTC)

I meant no offense. Personally I felt uncomfortable working on hindi film articles with those colours on the page. Bharathprime (talk) 03:17, 16 December 2008 (UTC)

No problem

No problem. Thank you. Clubover (talk) 16:38, 16 December 2008 (UTC)

I've altered your good faith edit on the Tamil cinema template. Cinema of Tamil Nadu or Tamil film industry is how it's referred to in RS, so I've avoided colloquial use here. Similar format to other state templates. Hope you don't mind. Clubover (talk) 14:20, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
I am against naming the template "Cinema Of Tamil Nadu". I am not particular about a name (don't have a specific name in my mind) but the title should not be controversial. This template can potentially be used on thousands of articles and hence the importance to get it right. I am of an opinion that films categorized basis language cannot be constraint to a state/geographical area (the language alone should be the topic of discussion). Reffering to other language film navigation templates
  • Telugu - Telugu cinema - appropriate
  • Hindi - Bollywood (Hindi cinema) - appropriate
  • Malayalam - Malayalam cinema - appropriate

This being said I have still not analyzed your point of view. I would like to view the referneces stated above and would appreciate further comments on the topic. Bharathprime (talk) 09:13, 18 December 2008 (UTC)

Oh, what I mean't was in a similar way the Mumbai film industry and Chennai film industries have been termed, the title should reflect this. Tamil Nadu's film output, though vastly in the Tamil language, is also in other languages, and so I figured this title is less controversial (with Tamil cinema in brackets). Clubover (talk) 19:07, 19 December 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the input. I will remove only the words "Cinema Of Tamil Nadu" from the title. Please fell free to change the title to anything more appropriate. Bharathprime (talk) 04:28, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
See Category:Cinema by location. It's perfectly fine to categorize based on location. The reason being, Tamil-language films are also made outside Tamil Nadu, such as in Singapore (see My Magic for instance, however these are not Chennai cinema films, and don't follow the popular Tamil filmmaking idiom. There are films like Water which are made in Hindi, but are not "Bollywood films." Therefore the template is not added to those film articles. For this reason, the location is also necessary. Here's a source with information on the Cinema of Tamil Nadu/Chennai film industry. Tamil Cinema: The Cultural politics of India's other film Industry, there are others on the Tamil cinema article and elsewhere online. I will be readding the words, or Chennai film industry. Thanks. Clubover (talk) 14:06, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
Link -Category:Cinema by location has list of names of continents and a sub list of countries. The odd one out there is Tamil Cinema which is incorrect and needs to corrected when this discussion is over.
  • African cinema
  • Arab cinema
  • Cinema of Palestine
  • Cinema of the Americas
  • East Asian cinema
  • European cinema
  • Latin American cinema
  • North American cinema
  • South Asian cinema
  • Southeast Asian cinema
  • West Asian cinema
  • World cinema
This page refereed earlier is same as this (Cinema classified by continent and country) which is a geographical region. "Cinema of India" might be added here but it would still be a sub-category like "Cinema of Palestine". With regards to "My Magic" and "Water", we both are saying the same thing but what we fail to understand is that language has no land barrier and cannot be confined to India or Singapore. We are speaking about Tamil language films and not Tamil language films of India (we are speaking of a language and not a place). This template we are discussing over is meant to give us easy navigation to Tamil related film pages (any film in Tamil language). Did you know, I recently came to know that almost all old south Indian films (Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam) were made in Chennai as we had some of the best film studios located here.
Tamil Cinema: The Cultural politics of India's other film Industry has no conflicting data in it and I have no objection. Tamil cinema is a Wikipedia article written by people like us. I see you have already made a good contribution to the article and hence would request your help in removing the words "state of Tamil Nadu". I have no objection for the rest of the article. Bharathprime (talk) 10:48, 24 December 2008 (UTC)
I object to that, for whilst I see your point of view, this article is specifically about the Cinema of Tamil Nadu - the Tamil film industry in Chennai. We should stick to third party reliable sources such as this that describe the Chennai film industry in the state of Tamil Nadu. This isn't about geopolitics, it's about how we accomodate reliable sources on to wiki. It's impractical to remove state of Tamil Nadu on this article, without going around removing locations on all the other film articles, and ignoring reliable sources. Therefore, it should stay. It's really not a problem, for whilst I know many south Indian films have been made in Chennai, they are still overwhelmingly Tamil and the words Tamil cinema are also in the title of the template explaining that this template is for Tamil-language films. Would you agree your suggestion of renaming it Kollywood is contradictory, for it also brings in the locality aspect - the K is from Kodambakkam? This title has been rejected as a name on the Tamil cinema talk page, and I agree colloquial terms like this shouldn't be used. I see the article of Kannada cinema is titled Cinema of Karnataka and categories like Category:Cinema in Kerala exist which is fine. That article is about the Tamil language cinema of Tamil Nadu, which is where you're getting confused. It references that other places also make Tamil language films. The title of the article Tamil cinema is under discussion, and on the talk page, suggestions include renaming it to something like Chennai or Tamil film industry which I hope you'll help working out. That is a far easier correction to make. Note how there is no article titled English cinema and the Spanish cinema article links to Cinema of Spain despite Spanish language films being made in Mexico too. India is unique for it has several film industries, more or less one in each state. Thanks.Clubover (talk) 14:54, 24 December 2008 (UTC)
I am sorry, I am opting out of this converstion. We are not speaking of facts anymore. Bharathprime (talk) 05:40, 25 December 2008 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Bomma Borusa

I have nominated Bomma Borusa, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Bomma Borusa. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Mayalld (talk) 13:02, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

This is completely absurd. I don't see the reason for deletion being mentioned anywhere. What is expected from the article? Its a stub for heaven's sake and this is all the information available on the net. Are people working to improve wikipedia or is it the other way round. Bharathprime (talk) 13:34, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
The reason is there in the AfD - the film does not meet the notability criteria set out in WP:NOTFILM. Mayalld (talk) 13:47, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
I am working on it now, and will try to add more data to the article. But I am requesting you to understand, it is very difficult to find reliable data for Indian articles, especially non-hindi articles. Thanks for your inputs. Bharathprime (talk) 13:56, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

Hello there,

I saw the images you have been uploading and I think you are doing a great job.

Also I wish to request some DVD cover Images for a couple of Tamil cinema articles, if you dont mind.

Pls take a look at them and if you have any images itd be great.

Thanks again

Vprajkumar (talk) 19:06, 28 December 2008 (UTC)

I am working on it. I am uploading the images I currently have. Thanks, Bharathprime (talk) 20:18, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
Thank you very much Bharath for considering my request. I very much appreciate the effort you are putting in fill an important gap in the representation of Tamil Films out here. Thanks again.

Replaceable fair use Image:Jayanthi Indian Acress.jpg

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Jayanthi Indian Acress.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? J Milburn (talk) 21:09, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
