Ways to improve Dixon High School

[edit]

Hi, I'm Boleyn. Busguy9, thanks for creating Dixon High School!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Please add sources. This has no clear references, I don't know if the 'external link' was used as a source or if this is WP:OR, can you please WP:INLINECITE some at least one reference, prefably not a WP:PRIMARYSOURCE.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

Boleyn (talk) 07:46, 13 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Busguy9. FYI i moved the high school article to Dixon High School (Dixon, California) so that other schools of the same name could be listed at Dixon High School, which is now a disambiguation page. And I added a sentence to the article, giving the size of the school as having 1,183 students, based on a recent Vacaville Reporter newspaper article. It would be great if you could add a bit more, perhaps a photo or two if you can get them. FYI I think editor User:Boleyn might be concerned about the short size and lack of references, as it is a key step for an editor to add references. Like others are concerned about other very short articles you've created recently, which have been nominated for deletion, which might be how I found my way here, myself, i am not sure. It is hard for anyone to get started in Wikipedia, but I hope you find your way! Let me know if I can help... I'll watchlist here but feel free to post a note to my Talk page to reach me for sure. --doncram 23:44, 13 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

historic sites in Vacaville area

[edit]

Hey, if you have some association or interest with Vacaville, I wonder if you could possibly help on creating/developing articles about four historic sites located there:

All four of these are currently redlinks, but they are definitely valid Wikipedia topics. If you wanted to start any one of them I would be very glad to help, including by adding the available National Register of Historic Places nomination documents as references. For address info and geolocation and perhaps a bit more, see their rows in table at National Register of Historic Places listings in Solano County, California. I think photos are needed for all four. Could you possibly be interested? These are sure things while articles about transportation centers are dicey. :) There is some strategy to getting started in Wikipedia and building a good reputation, and discouraging critics from following you and making things hard, i.e. by doing some recognizably solid contributions. :) --doncram 02:25, 14 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

E.g. if you wanted to create an article on the Vacaville Town Hall, apparently a two-story 32 by 44 feet (9.8 m × 13.4 m) building, you could use this reference with footnote coded as: ,[1] as one source anyhow, plus you could probably find other sources. --doncram 02:32, 14 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I am interested in Vacaville and will create those articles tomorrow when I have the time. Should it be Pena Adobe or Peña Adobe? I don't know how to do the references very well or geolocaxion I would need help with that.Busguy9 (talk) 02:36, 14 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Pena Adobe
Okay, you go ahead and I will add to what you start. You can start an article at Pena Adobe and then move it (use Move tool which is a tab available to you, like "Edit source" and "View history" are tabs), to Peña Adobe, which will leave a redirect behind, so readers looking for either will find it. You can get a pretty good start on these National Register articles by use of NRHP infobox generator tool here, just enter "Pena Adobe" say and see that it generates a copy-paste ready infobox and a bit more, to paste into the new article you are creating. (There is more info about it and other tools/stuff at wp:NRHPHELP.)
While I am at it, a NRHP document reference for the Pena Adobe is: [2]

Hey, i see you have been busy. I see also there are pics available for Will H. Buck House and Vacaville Town Hall at the Solano County NRHP list-article. Also the NRHP document reference for Pleasants Ranch is: .[1]

References

Certainly we can add more about each of these places to their articles, using these sources and perhaps finding other more recent sources? --doncram 03:39, 14 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
