Need for citations

[edit]

Information icon Please can you add citations to reliable sources for edits that you have been making. Wikipedia has a policy called WP:VERIFY that your edits need to comply with.

I have not reverted your edit to Poonch district, India. But if you do not add a citation, I will.-- Toddy1 (talk) 19:43, 18 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Danishka7861, I have recently changed the elevation of poonch town because the previous one was incorrect and the leaders name are also removed because in jammukashmir there no assembly sit and no legislative Council yet in j-k. I change the previous leader names to vecant as MLA and MLC seats are vecants. Danishka7861 (talk) 03:49, 19 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Did you even read the page after you edited? How many times are "Poonch" and "Punch" appearing in the infobox? Why?
And how are we supposed to know that your elevation numbers are correct?
You have completely ignored what Toddy1 told you. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 04:14, 19 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox template and lead

[edit]

In your edit to the article on Poonch (town), you set the following parameters for the infobox as follows:

  • native_name =
  • native_name_lang = پونچھ

This displays nothing, as you can see on the page. What the template expects is for the native name to be in the field marked "native_name", and for the name of the language of this name to be in the field marked "native_name_lang".

Wikipedia:Manual of Style/India-related articles#Indic scripts in leads and infoboxes, says the following:

Avoid the use of Indic scripts in the lead sections or infoboxes. Instead, use International Phonetic Alphabet pronunciation guides, which are more international. Exceptions are articles on the script itself, articles on a language that uses the script, and articles on texts originally written in a particular script.
This avoidance of Indic scripts only applies to articles that are predominantly India-related and is excluded from, among others, articles about Hinduism, Buddhism, Pakistan or any of India's neighbouring countries. It is a divergence from the usual practice of including non-Latin script in leads when it is arguably relevant (e.g. "Athens ... Greek: Αθήνα ..." at the article Athens).
One reason why Indian scripts are avoided is because often there are too many different languages with their own native script, each of which can be original names for a topic. Additionally, there are too often problems with verifiability of the accuracy of the non-English spelling. A third reason is frequent disagreements over which native scripts to include; this led to a resolution to avoid all of them.

So having the name in Indic script in the lead sentence and the infobox is against the manual of style for an India-related topic. Note that this only applies to India-related articles - for articles on Pakistan, there is a different manual of style, which says it is OK. And, yes, I know that is crazy.-- Toddy1 (talk) 09:06, 19 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Danish Hussain Shah requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Speedy deletion nomination of Danish Hussain Shah

[edit]

Hello Danishka7861,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Danish Hussain Shah for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly indicate why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

This is the genuine information based upon my personal report Danishka7861 (talk) 19:22, 3 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

All English Wikipedia biographical pages must be about notable people (see notability guidlines) and credible claim of significance also they must be sourced to reliable 3rd party souces which mention that person in detail (social media is not a reliable source) - see information on reliable sources here. Unfortunately this article fails these tests and so an uninvolved administrator, will shortly decide whether or not it will be deleted.
