Recent edit reversion[edit]

In this edit here, I reverted some information that appears to be a violation of our copyright policy.

I provided a brief summary of the problem in the edit summary, which should be visible just below my name. You can also click on the "view history" tab in the article to see the recent history of the article. This should be an edit with my name, and a parenthetical comment explaining why your edit was reverted. If that information is not sufficient to explain the situation, please ask.

I do occasionally make mistakes. We get hundreds of reports of potential copyright violations every week, and sometimes there are false positives, for a variety of reasons. (Perhaps the material was moved from another Wikipedia article, or the material was properly licensed but the license information was not obvious, or the material is in the public domain but I didn't realize it was public domain, and there can be other situations generating a report to our Copy Patrol tool that turn out not to be actual copyright violations.) If you think my edit was mistaken, please politely let me know and I will investigate. S Philbrick(Talk) 13:38, 9 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia and copyright[edit]

Control copyright icon Hello Delirium333, and welcome to Wikipedia. While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. All other images must be made available under a free and open license that allows commercial and derivative reuse to be used on Wikipedia.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 14:28, 9 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Image without license[edit]

Unspecified source/license for File:Sugbumap.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Sugbumap.png. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time after the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|cc-by-sa-4.0}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by MifterBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: Once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. --MifterBot (TalkContribsOwner) 08:45, 23 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Republic of Lucbuan moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Republic of Lucbuan, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Your draft article, Draft:Republic of Lucbuan[edit]

Hello, Delirium333. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Republic of Lucbuan".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been deleted. When you plan on working on it further and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Liz Read! Talk! 22:41, 16 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Some proposals for your map designs[edit]

Hello! Just wanted to say I admire your work with maps, they're beautifully done and appreciate the continued efforts in maintaining historical accuracy. I hope you don't mind some proposals that could nonetheless improve them even just a bit.

Since non-Hispanized states and other settlements in the Philippine archipelago are based on riverine and other water transport, I think it would highlight some topics like the Mindanao sultanates better with a more elaborate display of the river systems, though not too visibly pronounced. The main rivers could be shown the thickest with thinner tributaries, like this map of French Indochina in 1838. Showing wetland areas that constantly shift water levels (like Ligusan Marsh) would also be helpful. Deltas too.

Additionally, since contrasting lowlander-highlander social dynamics are common throughout Philippine societies, it would probably be important to highlight mountain ranges in a more detailed relief style, like in this map of the Oman Empire, but somewhat more pronounced. Would help with river displays too.

For more specific proposals, I have two ideas that you could work with either or: re-add Buayan into the map of the Sultanate of Maguindanao and mark that particular territory with a specific time period along with the Lanao area among others, or just rework a bit under the time period either Kudarat or Barahaman rule instead of in 1521, since the said reigns of the aforementioned Sultans would be considered the maximum extent of Maguindanao rule and influence.

Since non-Hispanized states also don't draw borders, a faded, gradient color display of their territories would be nicer touch

Nowhere near as important as any of the ideas above but some kind of light pastel blue would be a nicer color for the waters imo Isangtalong (talk) 21:46, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Castilian War[edit]

Hello. May i revert the Infobox to my one before Danial Bass edited the Infobox. Because your Infobox is abit incorrect. The Ottoman Flag is wrong because if you see Battle of Çıldır page you will see the flag is has completely red background with a yellow crest. Thank you. Syazwi Irfan (talk) 11:45, 21 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Also. Brunei was historically called "Borneo" before Castilian War Happened Syazwi Irfan (talk) 05:27, 22 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Also. Brunei was historically called "Borneo" before Castilian War Happened. Syazwi Irfan (talk) 05:31, 22 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
for the ottoman flag i wont try to dispute that, thank you for correcting me
for brunei, for me i think its better to use the term bruneian because thats how the bruneians called their state, borneo is more of a european term. plus in that case then we would also be calling romania "rumania" because thats how they were historically called but it might confuse people a lot more. it wouldnt be wrong to use the term borneo but it might be a bit confusing especially because we associate borneo more with the whole island in the modern day Delirium333 (talk) 13:40, 22 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Sultanate of Buayan[edit]

Hello, please use reliable, academic sources when adding text. You can read more about that here: Wikipedia:Reliable sources. Please do not restore your last edits. Glennznl (talk) 06:07, 2 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

i will restore it because they are reliable. and the author of an article from opinion.inquirer.net is the director of the Bureau of Public Information of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao. please refrain from removing my edits. thank you :D Delirium333 (talk) 06:37, 2 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
An opinion piece is not a reliable source no matter who the author is. And how is a director of the Bureau of Public Information a reliable source for historic information? If you continue, you will be reported and possibly blocked. --Glennznl (talk) 06:58, 2 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop your disruptive editing.

If you continue to disrupt Wikipedia, as you did at Sultanate of Buayan, you may be blocked from editing. --Glennznl (talk) 06:58, 2 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

disrupt, thats a funny term to use. alright alright, the inquirer articles are removed (by the way only one of them was from an opinion, and it does not justify removing all the edits that actually had "academic sources". for the sake of finishing this war, because apparently it seems that you are resorting to useless threats. block from editing? serious? Delirium333 (talk) 07:06, 2 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
They are not "useless threats", users can be reported and blocked in this situation, see Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring. But if you can add reliable sources instead of news/opinion pieces, there is no problem at all. --Glennznl (talk) 07:14, 2 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The German and Norwegian versions of the article list a couple of sources that might be useful for you. --Glennznl (talk) 07:17, 2 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
alright. anyway, the inquirer sources were replaced with a book called the philippine islands by john foreman (1899), where in page 141 it mentions the same event. for baratamay section, a paragraph sourced from inquirer has been removed. while extremely disappointed earlier, i hope that this will settle our dispute and may there be no edit war again. thank you. Delirium333 (talk) 07:21, 2 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, thank you for fixing the issue. I understand that you felt disappointed earlier because you created the page, but my only intention is to keep Wikipedia as reliable as possible, so there was no ill will towards you :) --Glennznl (talk) 07:27, 2 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
you too. i apologize for reacting a bit salty earlier. now that things have calmed down ive gained a bit of empathy. now, i can understand why you were disappointed with the lack of academic sources. Delirium333 (talk) 07:30, 2 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
