Thanks Dismas for the lastest re-edit of some article I edited before, I am quite new to WiKi. I am just a little bit confused at this stage. I checked some of the articles about Playmates,Playboy, the most external pages are link to Playboy.com, so why is not allowed the external pages link to Playboy.co.uk (the playboy UK/EU domain)? Hope I could get your kindly advise. Best Regards Charley Playboy Fans (talk) 09:27, 8 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Stephanie Adams

[edit]

After contacting Goddessy.com to inquire about the information mentioned in the article on Stephanie Adams, they confirmed that the information was false and defamatory and she sued as a result of it. They also said that they would be contacting Wikipedia's general counsel to have this information removed. But I just removed it because it was never added in the beginning and the person who added it was doing so to be malicious. When mentionings in articles might constitute some sort of libel, it might be better off to avoid the issue entirely. Don't you think? Swiksek (talk) 15:00, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You mentioned in passing during the debate about Stephanie Adams about a personal Playboy collection. Can you do me a favour and check in the collection to see what birthdate is given for Spencer Scott, October 2007? An anon IP just changed it from the 4th to the 5th... and while I'm fairly sure its vandalism, I'd like to nail it down for sure. Tabercil (talk) 23:38, 27 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Further to my comments at WP:RD/E, you might like http://www.surfthechannel.com/show/television/Doctor_Who_%282005%29.html Start with 1.1 and ignore Season 0: they're specials, and fit in at the end of each series. See episode list for order. Enjoy. Gwinva (talk) 00:54, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I would do well to emulate you...

... or stay off the Miscellaneous RD entirely. That particular poster got my ire up and I was barely civil (and not particularly coherent) in my response. Yours was entirely decent in tone and content, and I want you to know that I admire that. Occams razor

[edit]

Just wondering what you found so funny about my mention of Occam's razor?

I have a weird sense of humour! I read it as a sort of pun, Tarzan trying to shave with Occam's razor. This gave me the mental picture of Tarzan swinging in through the window of William of Ockham's priory and swinging out again with a razor, shaving brush and soap. -- Q Chris (talk) 14:02, 12 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi!

Just wonder why the image on Jeri Ryan on this page Seven of Nine is unacceptable on Jeri Ryan. If it is non-free, shouldn't it be removed from the first page aswell?

Sorry about the user page - but the reference you deleted has nothing to do with the link I posted in the edit comment box to download, If it does require membership it didn't ask me for one. [edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Adele Stephens. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions in a content dispute within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. If necessary, pursue dispute resolution. -- Issuecheck (talk) 22:54, 8 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The random Keeley stuff

[edit]

Hey there, just trying to avoid an edit war.

The main reason why I don't think it's ironic is that her role in Cashback was just topless work. In other words, it was identical to her current line of work. Also, as it would fit better under "other work" rather than "modelling," I've removed the mention of it again.

That's all. : D Meamvagabond (talk) 00:15, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sasha Grey birthplace

[edit]

Thx for your message. (FYI: I did check the talk page), I was just going by Wikipedia's policy: "Unsourced or poorly sourced contentious material about living persons — whether the material is negative, positive, or just questionable — should be removed immediately and without waiting for discussion, from Wikipedia articles, talk pages, user pages, and project space." It very well may be true that she was born in Sacramento and that the user Tabercil really is in touch with her via email (as stated in the talk page), but there's no way to verify that information unless it's published somewhere. I'm not to sure how contentious the issue is, but out of curiosity I googled Sasha Grey and Gary, Indiana and the first result is an interview from a porn newspaper(?), where she responds to the question, are you really from Gary, Indiana, "No... I just write that on MySpace to fuck with people's minds...But I'm really from Sacramento, California."., which is verifiable, and supports her birthplace as Sacramento, though I don't know how reputable it is. Since you seem to be passionate about the subject, I'll leave it up to you to decide what to do with that info. Maimone (talk) 17:21, 12 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Playmate stats on Wikipedia

[edit]

Someone keeps vandalizing/removing the playmate stats in the article on Playboy playmate Stephanie Adams. According to the history of playmates being recorded on Wikipedia, all playmate stats were added as far back as 2005, and removal of one is not consistent with all of the playmate articles. Your assistance is greatly appreciated. 208.120.11.116 (talk) 13:32, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use Image:Frigg band.jpg

[edit]
Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Frigg band.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? BlueAzure (talk) 22:41, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Frigg band.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Frigg band.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:02, 15 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Caroline Cossey

[edit]

As it is stated in the talk page, Caroline Cossey lives in the United States where sex change is not recognised. So, you must conceed that person is not considered as a female by every legal system.

Actually, as this "condition" is not recognised in every country (and defitely not by every religion, philosophy, etc.), I think that it would be better to avoid pronouns in article about transexualism and to use formulas such as "this person", this 'human being". So Wiki will remain neutral and free of ideological bias. Is not what we all want?Mitch1981 (talk) 19:09, 15 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Briana Banks

[edit]

I have restored the birth name. If the name is widely disseminated and properly sourced it belongs in the article. This is BLP policy, which controls, not some manufactered phony self-imposed "consensus" by trolls. If you are further harassed about this matter contact me. A joint RFC may well be appropriate. "bypass redirect"

[edit]

In this edit, you claimed to have bypassed a redirect, when in fact, you linked to a redirect. Bypassing a redirect is linking to the correct title. --Pwnage8 (talk) 18:27, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, my bad. I thought you changed Gladstone Hotel. Nevermind. --Pwnage8 (talk) 19:33, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Still, I made a mistake. I recently bypassed for a lot of Toronto-related articles, so I was ticked off by seeing a redirect for Gladstone. Diffs with no red changes can be hard to discern sometimes. But looking at your contributions, I see that you have somewhat of a thing for these redirect bypasses. Any idea what WikiProject that falls under? --Pwnage8 (talk) 02:44, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Birthdays

[edit]

Thanks, Dismas. Most interesting. Your family is doing its bit for posterity, for which posterity thanks you sincerely. But you've still a little way to go before beating the Cummins family of Virginia: their 5 natural-born children were all born on 20 February, in 1952, 1953, 1956, 1961 and 1966. And special mention must go to the Henriksens of Andenes, Norway: their 3 kids were born in 1960, 1964 and 1968, all on Leap Day 29 February. Quite a feat to coordinate that one. Cheers. -- JackofOz (talk) 00:38, 1 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Family Groove Company

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Family Groove Company, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Jeepday (talk) 21:53, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Dismas! It seems a bit silly to not include this person in this category seeing as her main claim to notability is in association with Playboy? There is the same problem with Amy Sue Cooper- she is definitely notable only for her appearance as a Playboy model so surely she she should be in a Playboy category? Castle hotels

[edit]

Hi Dismas, I'm afraid I cannot really help you with your question so I decided to answer here instead of at the Refdesk. I've been to dozens of castles all over Germany, but my parents were the prototypical campers driving around on weekends with their LT, so we never stayed at any hotels (I seem to have more or less inherited the habit, so I have no personal knowledge of hotels anywhere in Germany). All I can offer is this Google search, but I guess you've done that already. --Ferkelparade π 14:21, 19 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Problem

[edit]

I am facing a strange problem in the article Anti-tobacco movement in Nazi Germany. The article uses Harvard referencing. All of it works. For example, if you click this, you will automatically go to the last book in the reference section. But if you click this reference, by rule you should go to the second book in the reference section. But this is not happening. Can you tell what is the problem here.
