Replaceable fair use Image:Akash6f.jpg

[edit]
Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Akash6f.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Mspraveen (talk) 15:49, 30 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I had to do this as it fails the criteria. Please don't mind. Mspraveen (talk) 15:50, 30 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

that would be awesome if we would have a peer review. though i do not write himachal pradesh articles anymore since not much users were interested; i tried my best to motivate and many times i was fooled. well now i have also written a few good articles which i created myself. one of those is Economic development in India. anyway now i think i can help promoting himachal pradesh article. thanks a lot for your active participation. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Akash6f.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Akash6f.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:15, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

on license of an image

[edit]

Hi, I want to add an image of a book-cover. I can take a photograph and upload. But, I am not sure what should be the licensing for that image. Can you advise on this? Thanks.GDibyendu (talk) 16:03, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for asking. I have one more question. When I search in say google, and get some images, how do I know whether an image is free-to-use or not? THanks.GDibyendu (talk) 18:13, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Chak De article

[edit]

Hi Dwaipayanc, Hope all is well. I've been working on the 2007 film article, Chak De India and think it is at the point where - with help from some other editors - it could move to at least GA status. I'm (not very successfully) trying to take a semi-wikibreak so that I can attend to RL - but am checking in every once and awhile. I know you have a number of RL commitments as well, so if you don't have the time to work on it, that's fine - if you know of other editors who might want to put some time into it, that would be also great. Regards, -Classicfilms (talk) 00:21, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! I moved the quotes to Wikiquote (with link to that site). Yes, the references need to be formatted. I've reworked the page quite a bit over the past two weeks - formatting and adding of material by other editors will greatly enhance it. Hope you have a chance to contribute - and I will contact User:Mspraveen as you suggested. Hope all is well. -Classicfilms (talk) 08:29, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I've formatted the references. -Classicfilms (talk) 16:45, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ack! :-) As you can probably guess, references are my least favorite part of Wikipedia articles :-) If you have some time, and would like to add the dates, I'd appreciate it. I actually have to sign off for a few days to meet a RL deadline. If you don't have time, I could attend to it later in the week.
I'm actually not convinced it's ready for GA even with the dates, which is why I'm trying to get more editors to work on it. The production section needs more development, and the reviews need more balance. A few more pairs of eyes to develop this would really help.
The film is out on DVD so you should be able to rent it. Not only is it an excellent film and IMHO one of SRK's best, it was a hit, won awards, and brought attention to a neglected subject. So I think the topic is GA worthy. I realize you can't really contribute until you see the film - so I hope you will have a chance.
I agree with you about the plot summary. Perhaps if you see the film, you could rework it (the current version is one which was reduced from a previous version which was longer than MOS rules allow).
Anyway, I'll check back in in a few days. -Classicfilms (talk) 17:33, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Just saw that you added some of the dates! If you have time to add more, that would be great. Thanks! -Classicfilms (talk) 17:36, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
See the film again, it is really worth it. Thanks for attending to this. Great to hear you are moving to Conn. It's a beautiful state, you'll like it. I'm fine, just so swamped in RL and spending too much time here in the Wikipedia :-) Hopefully in a few weeks there will be more balance. Looking forward to working on the article with you in a week or so. -Classicfilms (talk) 17:57, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Just an fyi - I have a little more flex time at the moment though I may go on break again next week. Thanks for fixing all of the refs. I created a related article on Women's field hockey and updated related links. The article looks better and there have been some great additions over the past few days as well - so over the next few months hopefully it will grow. I'm going to take a look at Taare Zameen Par as well since the article needs some attention. Have you seen it? It may interest you since you are in the medical field. -Classicfilms (talk) 19:01, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Great! I've started working on Taare Zameen Par and will focus on it for a little while since there is still some clean up to do - both articles are probably worth watching since after a few months they may be ready for GA. -Classicfilms (talk) 04:24, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for oversight about Deendar Anjuman.Shyamsunder 20:43, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I will get on to Haraprasad Shastri tomorrow. Let me check what I have as reference. Have a look at Birhor people. I had visited some of their shifting settlements when I was in school. I always thought of them to be Red Indians because of their conical tents. That was many years ago. I suddenly remebered tham and started looking for material. Regards. - P.K.Niyogi (talk) 11:38, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Statred working on Haraprad Shastri. It will require more work. Nowadays, they are demanding in-line citations for the full article in DYK, not merely the hook. Regards. - P.K.Niyogi (talk) 05:50, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Seen your message. I think it is in some shape now. I am not keeping very well and therefore cannot devote as much time to Wikipedia as I did earlier. I think I will go into low key for sometime. Regards. - P.K.Niyogi (talk) 06:11, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It is nothing very serious, just getting old. With high blood sugar the prescriptios is 'walk' and walking tires me down so much that I don't have the energy to work on Wikipedia. Anyway, let me see how things shape up. Regards. - P.K.Niyogi (talk) 16:01, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Kolkata trivia

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Kolkata trivia, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of Kolkata trivia. Hi, Thanks for helping me out. This article does need a lot of editing. When I was editing it, I was completely focused on facts. Also, I did not finish the article. Right now, this is an article about the Calcutta riot. I would like see some exposure on other violence in the back drop of the Calcutta riot and then draw an overall conclusion of what direct action day achieved.

Yes definitely GA will be an excellent goal. Let me know what you are thinking.

Thanks SumanSumanch (talk) 07:01, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"Uncertain" in Prelude —
I believe, the term "...leadership was uncertain." meant "areas where ML did not have enough influence" and in these places the mob could do whatever it pleased.
But does this constitute OR?

Suman.Sumanch (talk) 22:45, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes it was Bidyut Chakrabarty's book The Partition of Bengal and Assam, 1932-1947: Contour of Freedom. And those were the exact words he had used. Sumanch (talk) 07:51, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have made a few changes based on your sujestions. Sumanch (talk) 01:14, 13 April 2008 (UTC)+[reply]

Ok. Looks like I have finished the chages you had suggested. Thanks. Sumanch (talk) 04:35, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I have made some changes to the article. I removed the "program of the day" block quote and re worded the section. It will need some copy edit. Can you take a look at it? Thanks. Sumanch (talk) 19:53, 11 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

BOI

[edit]

Well nobody has raised any concern yet. There is no evidence that the site is unreliable. On the contrary, The Times of India, Hindustan Times, Rediff, all use BOI as a source of information. The site has recently updated its structure and disclaimers, and it's quite clear that it's a credible source. As someone who is very involved in the Bollywood biz, I can assure you that every detail on the site is true. Apart from that, very few Bollywood-related GAs use it, and nobody has raised any concerns, so I can't see why we should.:)

Hope you're doing well friend. ShahidTalk2me 16:56, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In any case, even if someone raises any concerns re BOI, we will find another way. There are other reliable sources with BO figures, as that of indiaFM, BO Mojo etc., but I still believe that we should fight for it. ShahidTalk2me 17:03, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for writing about Haraprasad Shastri! I enjoyed reading the article.

As one minor improvement, would you add in the Bengali for Haraprasad Shastri's name and the titles of his works? I tried finding it myself, but I know absolutely nothing about the language and was at a loss :)

Thanks again, « D. Trebbien (talk) 02:34 2008 April 13 (UTC)
