Berwyn article

Am I right in thinking it's not that close to Cadair Berwyn? I though that might be worth adding. Llangollen is a lovely area but haven't been there for years! Blythwood (talk) 21:07, 22 January 2016 (UTC)

British Rail Classes 445 and 446

Why are you using |art-sections= for the number of cars in a non-articulated EMU? I also noticed this at Class 311. --Redrose64 (talk) 21:50, 22 February 2016 (UTC)

@Redrose64: For |art-sections=, the documentation for Template:Infobox train states: The number of coaches/power vehicles formed into an articulated trainset.

See the definition of articulated:

  • 2. having a joint or joints; jointed.
  • 3. (of a vehicle) built in sections that are hinged or otherwise connected so as to allow flexibility of movement.

Therefore, as a trainset, the EMUs are definitely articulated. I expect articulated may be interpreted as "two sections sharing a common axle or bogie"? If so, that's not what the template or the definition specifies. Regards, EP111 (talk) 09:45, 23 February 2016 (UTC)

In railway terms, an articulated train (unit, coach) has two bodies sharing a common bogie - this might have two pivots, one for each coach, or a central pivot with one coach resting on that, and the other coach resting on a pivot mounted on the first coach, directly above the bogie pivot. Post-1945 examples in the UK include Class 370 and Class 373 but few others, although most of the modern British tram systems (including Manchester, Sheffield and Blackpool) use articulated trams.
If there are twice as many bogies as coach bodies (each coach has its own bogies), it's not articulated.
If there is more than one body, and the number of bogies is one greater than the number of bodies, it is probably articulated.

Harris (1995) has quite a bit on articulated coaches through most of the book - the LNER had many more articulated coaches than all of the others put together; there's a good photo and drawing of an articulation bogie on p. 18.

Well, I've got a few books on the docks due in the next few days, so I'll see what they offer with regard to everything but everybody's favourite. One which isn't on my list, though, is Lancashire: Liverpool and the South West. ISBN 9780300109108. The reference wasn't fully formatted, only provided as a titled link, and not helpful for future archiving in order to keep the reference alive (it needs at least the date, and should preferably use one of the cite templates which also allows the archiveurl= and archivedate= parameters, as I've formatted it). As no date was given in the original reference, I checked the link was working and provided the date I saw the article at that link. Europe 10,000 Challenge invite

The page most certainly needs deleting due to it being a duplicate and due to the fact that yours is far superior, but I am not sure if there is a faster way to delete it. Since the Projects very first edit 9 december 2002 by User:Dan Koehl, which eventually became the WikiProject Genealogy, different templates were developed, and the portal Portal:Genealogy was founded by User:Michael A. White in 2008. Over the years a number of articles has been written, with more or less association to genealogy. And, very exciting, there is a proposal made on Meta by User:Another Believer to found a new Wikimedia Genealogy Project, read more at Meta; Wikimedia genealogy project where you also can support the creation with your vote, in case you havnt done so already.

Future:

The future of the Genealogy project on the English Wikipedia, and a potential creation of a new Wikimedia Genealogy Project, is something where you can make a an input.

In order to improve communication between genealogy interested wikipedians, as well as taking new, important steps towards a creation of a new project site, we need to make communication between the users easier and more effective.

At Mail list on meta is discussed the possibility of creating a genealogy-related Wikimedia email list. In order to request the creation of such a list, we need your voice and your vote.

In order to create a new list, we need to put a request it in Phabricator, and add a link to reasoning/explanation of purpose, and link to community consensus. Therefore we need your vote for this now, so we can request the creation of the mail list.

WikiProject Women in Red/The World Contest
