preceded_by and followed_by

[edit]

Hi there, re: these changes, you appear to be misusing the |preceded_by= and |followed_by= Infobox parameters. These are not used to indicate what series came before a series in a certain time slot, or in the programming lineup. These are only used when writing about television franchises, to indicate which show in a franchise was produced before or after a series.

Correct usage:

  • Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1993) was |preceded_by= Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987).
  • Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1993) was |followed_by= Star Trek: Voyager (1995).

I hope that makes sense. It would be appreciated if you'd please adjust your editing accordingly. Thank you, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 16:34, 27 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Firstly I didn't say youtube link cannot be used but I said youtube link from non-trusted source. I asked at tea house and waiting for their response till then keep the dispute thing away. And it will be good for you to behave in friendly manner. And remember whenever you make an edit you are aggrying to Creative Commons Atribution that means anyone can edit that and make that better.

@Ericranium:, as per WP:RSP Most videos on YouTube are anonymous, self-published, and unverifiable, and should not be used at all. Content uploaded from a verified official account, such as that of a news organization, may be treated as originating from the uploader and therefore inheriting their level of reliability. However, many YouTube videos not from official accounts are copyright violations and should not be linked from Wikipedia at all. See also WP:YOUTUBE and WP:VIDEOLINK. Hamim000000 (talk) 13:23, 30 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

When you are adding a link you should mention the site and not just block letters. Then, you don't need to teach me all that edit history and about good will policy. I am being friendly to discuss and ask you the problem while you are going on removing references. There is no personal attack, but since you tend to think only in that dimension, you're getting things complicated and in the end, it's only wastage of time, strength, words and of course degradation of the article. Tea house replies take a lot of time, and since I know there is no such clear distinction between trusted or mistrusted source, so I can add the link to the article. But will still cooperate. However, don't revert other sections further, or it will be a violation of three revert rule, you may get blocked for continually removing sources. As a new editor, be civil, be patient and wait for your reply. If you don't mind your act, I am going to lodge a complaint at the international complaints forum for you intentionally persuading someone into edit war. I would suggest you to wait and edit on other articles for the time being. You can also get habituated with Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Television. Thank you, Ericranium (talk) 18:54, 30 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Now you can check my reply, I mentioned wikipedia pages.

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Magic Moments Motion Pictures, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Thriller (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Speedy deletion nomination of Ami Sirajer Begum

[edit]

Hello Ericranium,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Ami Sirajer Begum for deletion, because it doesn't appear to contain any encyclopedic content. Take a look at our suggestions for essential content in short articles to learn what should be included.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

Ways to improve Ami Sirajer Begum

[edit]

Thanks for creating Ami Sirajer Begum.

A New Page Patroller Slatersteven just tagged the page as having some issues to fix, and wrote this note for you:

We only have two at this time, we need one to show it has actually started filming.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can reply over here and ping me. Or, for broader editing help, you can talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

Amloki

[edit]

Hello Ericranium , I need your help can you please please please create a article for zee bangla show amloki Ekramul 56 (talk) 18:24, 1 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry I won't be able to help with this one as I didn't watch the series, don't know the cast or crew details. Also there are not much references, hence there are chances of deletion, againit's not that enough hit or long-running a series and now that it has completed it's run, it doesn't need an article I feel. Still ig you want to create an article collect the crew details that appear at the bottom of the screen at the beginning of an episode by visiting ZEE5. Follow the basic structure of an article, as for example you can follow the structure of the recently launched Nokshi Kantha or Irabotir Chupkotha or Mayurpankhi regarding the shape of the article, don't overwrite, keep it simple and lucid. Hoped that helped you! Keep up the good work. From User:Ericranium.

Ok thanks for your help Ericranium good job Ekramul 56 (talk) 20:55, 1 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Did you watch seemarekha? Ekramul 56 (talk) 20:56, 1 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

No. I watch the series Rani Rashmoni, Irabotir Chupkotha and Nokshi Kantha on a daily basis; sometimes I watch Mayurpankhi, Ke Apon Ke Por, Debi Choudhurani, Phagun Bou and Bokul Katha. I am also excited to see Ami Sirajer Begum. So I think I can write the best information on wikipedia about the above Bengali shows only.
Also since I am a student with my exams nearing by I won't be able to begin wholesome articles and may also not be available all the time, however I will edit whenever I get time or I feel like publishing new articles. Nevertheless, I will continue making small edits on articles.

Ericranium (talk) 11:38, 2 December 2018 (UTC) Thanks for your time Ekramul 56 (talk) 14:47, 2 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for the calculation of the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai

[edit]

Hi there, re: these changes, while you obviously mean well, the conversion of the cast list is not at all consistent with WP:TVCAST. Bulleted lists are almost always preferred over tabular format. Part of the problem is that instead of actually describing who the character is and what they do and how they behave and who they hate and who they love, uninformed casual editors have opted to focus on convoluted family tree relationships. If you look at something like List of Millennium characters, you'll notice the contrast between these two articles; the Millennium article even includes real-world information about casting, which is the level of detail we are looking for. Even children's cartoons typically get better character write-ups than Indian soap operas. Also, we are not IMDb, so we are not required to list every ancillary character, only the most significant recurring characters, which might inform the level of detail we provide. Aaaand, keep in mind WP:ACCESSIBILITY. When we add colour backgrounds and other flair, we run the risk of making content inaccessible to people with visual impairments. If the contrast between gray and black isn't great enough, it could be hard for some people to see. Likewise, colouring things blue or red, etc. could present problems for people with colour blindness. A lot of things to consider, sure, but I think it's important to raise the issues. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 03:31, 27 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, I have tried to fix and organize the entire article with additional reference for the better. Ericranium (talk) 13:31, 27 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]
Hello! Voting in the 2019 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 on Monday, 2 December 2019. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2019 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:24, 19 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, though I know you meant well with this edit, we don't declare shows as having ended before they have actually ended. See Template:Infobox television instructions for this parameter, for instance. Also, it would be helpful once it does end if a reference could be found that indicates what the end date was, since otherwise it is hard to verify, should vandals come around. Thank you, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 18:52, 24 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The official site of hotstar is a reference as articles are usually not made on shows ending. Please reedit the page back to my revision after the show ends on december 1.Ericranium (talk) 16:36, 28 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Khorkuto moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Khorkuto, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Re: this, you can't copy text from other sources, like IMDB or anywhere else. That's a basic rule of academia: DO NOT COPY. All prose must be written from scratch in your own words, and presented in proper encyclopedic tone. Since I can find the same phrasing at IMDB, it's pretty clear that you copied it from somewhere.

And, re: this edit, are you even double-checking your work? Why did you put parentheses around a date? Why did you change the word "pretext" to "prtext"? Why is "congratulatesher" one word? Why aren't you adding a space after your commas? Why are you adding excessive wikilinks to non-existent articles? See WP:OVERLINK.

Similar here, with some of the same problems, including excessive linking to non-existent pages. You are also miscapitalising section headings. Per MOS:HEAD, we use "Sentence case" not "Title Case". So "Main cast" is correct, not "Main Cast". Also, be advised that the excessive focus on which character is related to whom is a real problem in Indian television articles. A proper character description would tell us who the character is, what they do for a living, what their strengths and weaknesses are, etc. See The Boys (2019 TV series) as an example.

Lastly, in your edit summary, you wrote "not everybody belongs to main cast only the hero heroine". While it is true that not everybody belongs to main cast, "only the hero heroine" is fundamentally false. The main cast are the principal actors that appear in most episodes and drive the stories. If there are two people credited as the stars of the series, that doesn't mean that there can't be other actors in the main cast, who receive lesser levels of credit. Please keep this in mind moving forward. Thank you, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:09, 2 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Look at Sreemoyee's page its a mess, thanks to ur revert, also the premise is simply the one I myself wrote on wikiledia about a year ago because the current plot was excessively detailed and incomplete. Also for a dramatic daily soap, relations are what the public seeks to know as character descriptions will lead to a long essay in itself, whatever I won't edit these pages anymore, let the editors write whatever they want. Thanks Ericranium (talk)

Hello, as you reverting all my edits of Mohor, Sreemoyee, Khorkuto and Desher Maati. I had cleanup unsourced, improper tone and other details, as per WP:CAST. But you reverting my edit. So please stop it sir. Kboomika33 (talk) 11:17, 7 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

not everything on wikipedia can be sourced nor it should be plus u are deleting the references regarding the adaptations also family relations are important in Indian TV articles otherwise how would a viewer identify a character because mostly the characters are not known by their given names but their relation with the main character, and your tone and style of editing is improper as u are making a mess of the well organised articles which mostly I myself have created and editing ever since their release. I am not reverting anyone's edits, I am editing the articles so u better not indulge urself in these articles as u clearly dont know anything about them as u dont watch these series. Dont disrupt and vandalise these articles.
