Heads up

Hi, and thanks for your contributions to Wikipedia! I wanted to draw your attention to this edit. Please understand that "it's" is a contraction of "it is"; whenever it's is used, substitution of "it is" should make sense. The word "its" is a possessive denoting ownership as in "its head" or "its name".

Actually, it's should almost never be used as stated in the manual of style: "Missing letters are replaced by an apostrophe in multiple-word contractions. Contractions should not be used in Wikipedia." Thus, occurrences of "it's" should be replaced by "it is". Just a heads up! --LilHelpa (talk) 23:43, 21 October 2020 (UTC)

Thank you for your message, I am fully aware of the grammatical rule in this case and it was quite clearly a typo. A quick revert would have sufficed. Thanks Footballgy (talk) 10:54, 22 October 2020 (UTC)

Hi there - Wikipedia relies on reliable sources to verify information, especially about living people. You didn't provide a source for your changes to the Julien Lamy article, but I have found one and added it for you. Please try and remember to include sources yourself with future edits. Please let me know if you have any questions. GiantSnowman 14:11, 6 February 2021 (UTC)

Hi, thank you for the message, Yes I clearly know this, but as I've explained to you in the past, I often edit on the Tablet App version and therefore it only allows me to edit articles a section at a time, not as a whole page. So I have to do Infobox and intro first, then chapters, then references. This can take a little longer, and as you can see by the time I came to edit the chapters and submitted it with the reference from the official website when the page had refreshed it showed both our edits. To save having to message me like and wasting both of our time, all I ask is if you see me editing on any article and it has the tag "Mobile Edit" on the page history then simply just allow me to finish what I'm doing, as in this case you cut in and modified the article as I was midway through doing what I was doing. Thanks. GY Footballgy (talk) Footballgy (talk) 14:27, 6 February 2021 (UTC)

Chimbonda and his professional career

Hi there. I just saw your change at Pascal Chimbonda ([1]) to move two stints which occurred after his official retirement into his career section and to add them to the infobox. As far as I can tell, both of those stints were not professional so I don't see why they should be considered part of his professional playing career. Could you explain your reasoning for the change? Kind regards, Robby.is.on (talk) 12:24, 24 February 2021 (UTC)

Simon Ainge

Hello. I was wondering what source you're using for the infobox stats for Gainsborough Trinity that you recently added to Simon Ainge. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 15:13, 26 July 2021 (UTC)

The local newspaper. Thanks Footballgy (talk) 10:02, 30 July 2021 (UTC)
Really? which one, so I'll know what to avoid... Gainsborough Trinity only played 8 matches in the NPL last season before it got suspended and then abandoned, and a reliable newspaper source would hardly report a player making twice as many appearances as the club even played (and scoring less goals than he actually scored). cheers, Struway2 (talk) 11:13, 30 July 2021 (UTC)

Notice

The article Sebastian Revan has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:GNG and WP:NFOOTBALL. His EFL Trophy appearances were for Aston Villa U21s and do not confer notability.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hello, There is no need for the newbie formalities, pop me a polite little message across any time you need too and it will be well recieved, but not sure how it wasn't constructive, it's not exactly vandlism? Kalvin Phillips is in at No.4 which was on the Official website, Erling Haaland at 9 has that not been made official also, or have I imagined it? either way the reason for it was he was already listed as 9 on the main page, I merely mirrored it to match the squad listed on Manchester City. Cheers, FG Footballgy (talk) 10:52, 4 July 2022 (UTC)
Provide a reliable source that Haaland is No. 9, if you can't then it should not be changed until it is confirmed by the club. You should not assume... JMHamo (talk) 14:05, 4 July 2022 (UTC)
Not sure there are individual sources or references for each player tagged to squad templates, well other than that of the Official websites, and even so in that case most clubs are slow to updates these. Like I say in this case, I mirrored the squad to the main article. Thanks, Footballgy (talk) 14:26, 4 July 2022 (UTC)

man city player nav box

Hi I reverted your reversion as you supplied no comment and you reverted an edit that had stated it had been corrected to reflect the cited source (which was accurate) Paul  Bradbury 13:53, 24 August 2022 (UTC)

The City Website does not reflect all of the players who appear for City's first team regardless of whether they also play in EDS. It also does not mirror the Squad list on the main article. A lot of these players have been a constant feature in City's first team, albeit from the bench for a year or so, they have all made first team appearances and all have first team squad numbers. Thanks.Footballgy (talk) 14:50, 24 August 2022 (UTC)
If you can provide a source for your edits then please go ahead, all edits need to be sourced, so please if you want to add them source it and then add them. Also playing a gsme for the first team does not constitute membership of the squad. Players are in one squad but may fill in for other teams Paul  Bradbury 19:32, 24 August 2022 (UTC)
I’m not here to be patronised on how to edit and source work, I’m also not going to add sources for individual players, you can see that the likes of Rico Lewis etc are currently part of the first team regardless of not being included on the website in that section. So it makes little sense to revert this like you have, and yes it does, all the players you have removed feature on the main squad list on the main article. Footballgy (talk) 21:53, 24 August 2022 (UTC)
I have referred it to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football as you seem intent on not discussing this with me or abiding by Wikipedia polices. Please join the discussion there. Paul  Bradbury 14:12, 25 August 2022 (UTC)
You're okay thanks, I have discussed it with you, I haven't got any more time to talk on this further, certainly when you are coming on here appearing patronising and condescending. If they change it then so be it, I have given my reasons for my thinking on the matter and as for policies I'm merely applying common sense to the matter as stated. A tag has been placed on Category:Cleethorpes Town F.C players indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". Question about Ted Lasso See Also

You took down my revision to the see also section for Ted Lasso (I added the arsenal documentary). So the Ted Lasso See Also section can only include fictional shows about soccer, or shows about American or unqualified managers for professional teams? Did you make this criteria for the see also section or did someone else. Joeystanley5 (talk) 22:26, 12 April 2023 (UTC)

Edit warring

You aren't a new user- so you should be aware of the rules about edit warring. It's up to you to gain a consensus to include your edit. 331dot (talk) 11:43, 29 May 2023 (UTC)

I am not a new user, but I also won't be bullied into having sections of work removed because of someone's own personal opinion. Sections about kit and colours, sponsorship history and kit suppliers are very common on association football club pages, I am not sure what the issue is to not include it here, but I won't stop my work on this article because someone doesn't agree with it. Thanks. Footballgy (talk) 11:46, 29 May 2023 (UTC)
