[edit]Hello! Are you Argentine? If you are, then our Wikipedian community is here to help you! The WikiProject Argentina is currently recruiting new members, and we will be really pleased if you join! Don't forget to sign your membership with four tildes (~~~~). Re: Join to Wikiproject Argentina
[edit]A WikiProject is designed to organize and coordinate the efforts of several users, and to allow a group of conceptually related pages to have similar structures and appearance. Of course, there are very small projects with only a few participants (i.e: WP:SW) and enourmous ones, with lots of members (i.e: WP:MILHIST, with more than 180!).
The WP:AR was started in less than a year and currently has more than 35 participants. We will be really pleased if you join, additional help is always appreciated =) --OneEuropeanHeart 02:53, 9 May 2006 (UTC)

About vandalism reversions
[edit]Usually when we revert vandalism, we put a warning on the vandals page. See my user page for the templates you can use to warn them at User:Chris53516#Vandalism. For example, if someone vandalizes Linear regression, you can type {{subst:test|Linear regression}}
and it will leave the appropriate warning. Each time a user is warned, you should go up on the "test" template (e.g., to test2 on the second time). Thanks for helping against vandals. — Chris53516 (Talk) 18:44, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
- Great, thanks.

Your recent edit to Crap (diff) was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to recognize and repair vandalism to Wikipedia articles. If the bot reverted a legitimate edit, please accept my humble creator's apologies – if you bring it to the attention of the bot's owner, we may be able to improve its behavior. Ip vandal
[edit]Hi, I see you are an experienced user. I'm helping to revert vandalism on wikipedia, and just as I was going to warn an Ip vandal. User warnings tags

Re: RC patrol
[edit]Hey Qxz, just wanted to ask you what do you use for the recentchanges patrolling thing? a script? a program? You're incredible. :)
Thanks. FrancoGG ( talk ) 23:39, 12 February 2007 (UTC) PS: you aren't a bot, are you? About 1700 edits today!!
- That many? I wasn't counting... I'll take a break in a moment, then!
- Anyway, yes, I'm using software I've written myself – and which I'm still writing; I've made some significant improvements over the last few days. The decision to revert, and the level of warning given rest entirely with me, so it's not a bot, but it does do a lot of useful things, so that I can concentrate on the important part – separating the good edits from the bad. Most of these I've added in response to feedback from other users, which has been very helpful. For example, it remembers who I've warned and when, and tells me if it thinks I'm using the wrong warning level, or warning someone for an edit they made before I issued the previous warning, or reporting someone to AIV who hasn't had a final warning (all things I've done by mistake in the past). It combs through the edits I don't revert looking for certain things, and builds up a list of 'good' users, whose edits are then ignored, and tries to pick out those edits which are most likely to be vandalism so I can deal with those first (user already warned, edit summary says "blanked the page", that sort of thing). While I think I've got the hang of undoing vandalism, I'm still figuring stuff out, so if you think I'm doing something not quite right, further suggestions would be most welcome. Thanks – Qxz 23:53, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
- "Doing something not quite right"? Are you kidding, this is great!
- Will you release that program someday in the future for other wikipedians to use it? FrancoGG ( talk ) 00:00, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
- Possibly. Though it's written in Visual Basic .NET, so I'll probably be laughed at (do many people here use Linux/Mac OS? they wouldn't be able to use it) – Qxz 00:02, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

Impersonator
[edit]No that's fine. I really have decided to stay within the English Wikipedia and Commons project only, in order to avoid mishaps like this. All I would ask is if you replace the userpage with the indef block tag. It still is linking to my English Wikipedia page. Thank you.¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 21:35, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
- I guess I would suggest that for my impersonator as well. Or, if possible for me to get that name, if the user is renamed, that would work as well. I do have a commons account, and a news account. Thank you for alerting me (us) to this issue, FrancoGG! Ariel♥Gold 20:58, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you so much, FrancoGG! I have registered the name, so all should be well in the WikiWorld! However, when you get a chance, could you create the doppelganger of Ariel Gold, (I have the same name here as well) just to avoid any further problems? It isn't necessary, but perhaps would be a good idea. And thank you again for your exceedingly speedy response to this problem! Ariel♥Gold 21:29, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
Page edit
[edit]You left a message that someone at this IP address edited a page that was deemed not constructive, what page was that? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Fitzinho (talk • contribs) 22:00, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry, but since I don't know your IP address, I can't tell you. Also it'd be hard to determine for me if I didn't include the page name in the message, as it's probabbly deleted now.
- An admin might be able to help you, looking at the IP's deleted edits. FrancoGG ( talk ) 03:57, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

Simple Wikipedia IRC channel
[edit]Hi, can you please update the access list for #wikipedia-simple? The old ops are very inactive and we have got a lot of new admins and users not on the access list. It can get quite difficult if we ever need op action. Thanks, Chenzw Talk 07:13, 27 July 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Chenzw. I've added Cometstyles as chanop, and gave Majorly and Werdan7 contact access.
- I've also given op access to freenode staff and freenode helpers, so users can ask them in case no other op is around.
- Poke me (or other channel contact) on IRC, when you're around, and I'll op you too, if you want.
- Thanks, bye. FrancoGG ( talk ) 20:17, 27 July 2008 (UTC)
Your story
[edit]headline added by me. FrancoGG ( talk ) 21:01, 1 February 2012 (UTC)
Aloha!
My name is Victor and I work with the Wikimedia Foundation, the non-profit organization that supports Wikipedia. We're chronicling the inspiring stories of the Wikipedia community around the world, including those from readers, editors, and donors. Stories are absolutely essential for any non-profit to persuade new people to support the cause, and we know the vast network of people who use Wikipedia have so much to share.
I find stories that drive our annual fundraising efforts. It's important to convey the incredible diversity of people who've come to rely upon Wikipedia every day.
I'd really like the opportunity to interview you to tell your story, with the possibility of using it in our materials, on our community websites, or as part of this year’s fundraiser to encourage others to support Wikipedia.
I will be in Buenos Aires from the 10th - 11th of March 2012.
I'm hoping you will elaborate on your story with me. Please let me know if you're inclined to take part in the Wikipedia Stories Project!
Thank you,
Victor Grigas

- I'd be glad to contribute, but unfortunately I don't live in Buenos Aires, and I don't have the time to travel for an interview. My story isn't very interesting though, hehe. FrancoGG ( talk ) 21:01, 1 February 2012 (UTC)
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. RC Patrol-related Proposals in the 2016 Community Wishlist Survey
[edit]Greetings Recent Changes Patrollers!
This is a one-time-only message to inform you about technical proposals related to Recent Changes Patrol in the 2016 Community Wishlist Survey that I think you may be interested in reviewing and perhaps even voting for:
- Adjust number of entries and days at Last unpatrolled
- Editor-focused central editing dashboard
- "Hide trusted users" checkbox option on watchlists and related/recent changes (RC) pages
- Real-Time Recent Changes App for Android
- Shortcut for patrollers to last changes list
Further, there are more than 20 proposals related to Watchlists in general that you may be interested in reviewing. (and over 260 proposals in all, across many aspects of wikis)
Thank you for your consideration. Please note that voting for proposals continues through December 12, 2016.
Note: You received this message because you have transcluded {{User wikipedia/RC Patrol}} (user box) on your user page. Since this message is "one-time-only" there is no opt out for future mailings.
