Wikimedia Canada
[edit]Hi there! I'd like to invite you to explore Wikimedia Canada, and create a list of people interested in forming a local chapter for our nation. A local chapter will help promote and improve the organization, within our great nation. We'd also like to encourage everyone to suggest projects for our national chapter to participate in. Hope to see you there!--DarkEvil 17:11, 20 January 2006 (UTC)
Citing Sources
[edit]Your edit of the article "British Raj" made 15:47, 8 March 2006 (added paragraph about beginning of company) does not have proper citation. Please add references (and if you used a specific work, could you provide me pg numbers and bibliographic information?) Thanks. User:cnelson
Request for edit summary
[edit]Hi. I am a bot, and I am writing to you with a request. I would like to ask you, if possible, to use edit summaries a bit more often when you contribute. The reason an edit summary is important is because it allows your fellow contributors to understand what you changed; you can think of it as the "Subject:" line in an email. For your information, your current edit summary usage is 0% for major edits and 0% for minor edits. (Based on the last 150 major and 0 minor edits in the article namespace.)
This is just a suggestion, and I hope that I did not appear inpolite. You do not need to reply to this message, but if you would like to give me feedback, you can do so at the feedback page. Thank you, and happy edits, Mathbot 03:31, 23 February 2006 (UTC)

Ice hockey country
[edit]A "{{prod}}" template has been added to the article Ice hockey country, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but yours may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Message from 220.225.35.3
[edit]Well i saw the page on 'Hemanta Kumar' where you had added the biodata section and found that you had mentioned, | Origin = Varanasi, United Provinces of Agra and Oudh, British India
My question is why was it not mentioned as simply Varanasi, India. What was your idea behind this?
I go to Thomas Jefferson's page and there is no mention of British US Colony where he was born.
Do refrain from such acts and be sensible while contributing to wikipedia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 220.225.35.3 (talk)
What are you planning on doing with Template:1993 Montreal Expos season game log? A template can't exist independently, it needs to be transcluded somewhere. Corvus cornixtalk 23:12, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
- Cool, thanks for explaining. Corvus cornixtalk 23:33, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
Another editor has added the {{prod}}
template to the article Kumkum (actress), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}}
template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. BJBot (talk) 01:00, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
Origin of word Raj
[edit]Gujuguy....I am surprise to see that whenever I have made correction to origin of Raj word on your article, you undo it. I am not uable to understand why are you insisting on giving wrong information to the readers of Wikipedia.
I am quoting your own source which say word Raj is from Sanskrit word, quotation No. 1 for the article very clearly says it is a Sanskrit word but you are ignoring your own quotation and insisting on saying it is a Hindustani word.
It’s like someone saying word "Station" is a Hindi word because it appears in Hindi dictionary. Yes, may be in Hindi dictionary but it is an English word borrow by many languages. Similarly Raj is a Sanskrit word and it is borrowed by Bengali, Hindi, Urdu, Hindustani, Punjabi, Gujarati, and Marathi and so on, and no one language can insist on saying it exclusively belongs to their vocabulary.

Edit summaries
[edit]Could you start being a little more specific in your edit summaries, please? "Edited" is rather vague, and also obvious. If you're adding possessiveness to a word that did not have it, then please say so. If you're tightening up prose, then please say that. This way, it allows other editors the option to know what you did without having to view each individual edit. BIGNOLE (Contact me) 15:39, 14 September 2008 (UTC)
- Hi, I just wanted to let you know, as you do cleanup in articles, that the English Wikipedia follows the British rules for punctuation inside/outside of quotation marks. Meaning, if it is not a complete sentence (i.e. the quote is part of the Wikipedia sentence, and not part of a whole statement), then the punctuations go on the outside of the quotation marks. You can see more about that here. Also, they are apparently not linking dates anymore. The reasonsing can be found here. BIGNOLE (Contact me) 15:42, 14 September 2008 (UTC)
Speedy deletion of 1988–89 New York Islanders season
[edit]A tag has been placed on 1988–89 New York Islanders season requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the article or have a copy emailed to you. Cheers, Mazeau (talk) 21:05, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
Baseball Team Rosters
[edit]Hey.. Good job with adding team rosters to the baseball season pages.. but could you make a few changes to conform with the other season pages... you should use the MLBplayer template instead of the Player one... we aren't putting flags on the rosters anymore per WP:FLAG. Also, could you list them alphabetically rather than by jersey number? I've been having to correct some of the ones you have done and it would be easier if they all matched. Thanks. Unreferenced BLPs
[edit]Hello Gujuguy! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 3 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 688 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:
- Les Kozak - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL
- Tom Parsons (baseball) - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL
- Jamie Campbell (British author) - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL

A group of us are working on clearing the backlog at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Articles_lacking_sources_from_October_2006. The article in the above header has been without sources for the past four years and may be removed if none are added. I wonder if you can help do so. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
