Welcome!

Hello, Heomap1983, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as Tarique mustafa, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines, and may soon be deleted.

There's a page about creating articles you may want to read called Your first article. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on this page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Questions or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Mo ainm~Talk 18:18, 28 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Mo ainm~Talk 18:18, 28 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article 4th Generation Data Leak Prevention has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Some of this has clearly been adapted from marketing material and there is no evidence that it is generally accepted that DLP has these 4 alleged generations.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on 4th Generation Data Leak Prevention, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

For the Tarique Mustafa article, you may want to limit its content to that based on only what is found in reliable sources. Per WP:GNG, if a topic has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject, it is presumed to satisfy the inclusion criteria for a stand-alone article or stand-alone list. Here's some: May 14, 2007, July 1, 2008, November 17, 2008, July 22, 2009. Unfortunately, the amount of content provided by these sources doesn't seem to be enought for a stand-alone article on Tarique Mustafa (the reliable source coverage of Tarique Mustafa is not significant coverage). I found other publications about Tarique Mustafa, however information about Tarique Mustafa in Marketwire, AP alerts, PR newswire, US Federal News, US Patent[1], Web Newswire, and blogs and other web pages that republish this information appear not to be independent of Tarique Mustafa. "Independent of the subject" excludes works produced by those affiliated with the subject including (but not limited to): self-publicity, advertising, self-published material by the subject, autobiographies, press releases, etc. -- Uzma Gamal (talk) 13:07, 2 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Tarique Mustafa's article Recreation

[edit]

I was trying to recreate my article "Tarique Mustafa" and I can not because it has been locked by one of the administrators. The administrator thought that Tarique is not notable enough, but I think he meets the notability criteria of Wikipedia. He not only receives some awards but also is the founder of nexTier Networks, Inc., a computer security company. He is the one who develops Data Leak Prevention into the new generation.

My article now has been locked by an administrator. I have created one under my user name and wait for being posted into the public place.

Thank youHeomap1983 (talk) 18:30, 3 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Tarique Mustafa

[edit]

As the article was deleted after Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Tarique Mustafa, what you must do first is approach user Cirt (talk), the administrator who closed the deletion discussion, and ask him to look at your userspace draft. Give him a link to User:Heomap1983/Tarique Mustafa so he knows where to find your draft. If he agrees, he will unprotect the title to allow you to post the article. If not, you will have to go to WP:Deletion review - read the instructions at the top of that page carefully. From a quick look, the article needs more independent references - websites of his company and lists of things that he has written are not enough for notability, you need to show significant coverage in reliable, independent secondary sources. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 19:46, 3 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Another opinion on your draft article on Tarique Mustafa

[edit]

At the Help Desk you ask what you should do now; here is my reply:

  1. Read the notability guideline for people? “A person is presumed to be notable if he or she has been the subject of multiple published secondary sources which are reliable, intellectually independent of each other, and independent of the subject.”
  2. Revise your draft article to demonstrate his notability according to the criteria in that guideline. So far I see no indication of why he would be important or significant—much less demonstrating notability.
  3. Verify any facts establishing his notability with citations to independent sources. Mustafa, nexTier Networks, and their press releases are of no value in verifying notability.
  4. Then post at Wikipedia:Requests for feedback to see if other editors think you have established notability.

In the first place I did not say that he is not notable but rather that your draft does not demonstrate that he is.
As for your references:
  • The last is an article by Mustafa and so is not independent.
  • The three above it are obviously nexTier press releases and so are not independent.
  • The Business Wire article appears to be a Network Utilities press release and so is of questionable independence.
  • The patent by itself does not show that he is important; if it is an important patent, you need an independent reliable source that says it is.
  • Even if the references had been good, they are simply a list of references—not connected to the article text by footnotes.
The text of the article does not indicate that he is a well known technologist in the data security space who has been awarded many industrial swards and multiple independent third parties have written about him and his groundbreaking contributions in the area of data security and semantic search resulting in key patents. If you can verify those assertions with references to independent reliable sources, the text should show that he is important; the references should merely verify the assertions in the text. —teb728 t c 01:19, 4 March 2011 (UTC) But don’t mistake that as an invitation to include peacock terms like “a deep knowledge” or “a leading data Security Company”. —teb728 t c 02:06, 4 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
If in my thought he was not that well-known, I would not have wasted time trying to tell you how to make your draft acceptable for article space. JohnCD just above told you the same as I—you need “more independent references.” And Uzma Gamal back on 2 March—your references “appear not to be independent.” Why don’t you pay attention to our advice? Is that you can’t find independent sources that give him significant coverage? In any case I won’t be wasting any more time on this. —teb728 t c 11:17, 4 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I have been cleaning my article and remove/add the reference as well as peacock terms in order to fit into the Wiki's requirements. Can you spend a little bit of your time to scan through my new edited version and let me know what I should do next. I really appreciate your advice.

As I said before your article should use footnotes to link from assertions in the text to verification in the references. (References are supposed to be only footnotes from the text.) Example: Tarique Mustafa is the Founder, CEO & Chairman of nexTier Networks, Inc.[1] (You might not need to verify that particular fact, but it makes an easy example.)
As I also said before, if you can verify assertions of his notability with references to independent reliable sources, don’t be shy about including those assertions in the text. Lack of such assertions was a serious flaw (at least in early versions). That might be the motivation of some of your recent changes, but I can’t tell because the inline external references make the article hard to read. If you feel you need those external references, move them to footnotes.
As I said before, having a patent does not show by itself that he is important. The patent shows that he created a new, non-obvious, and useful invention, but not all inventions are that important. To show that a patent is important, you need an independent reliable source that says it is.
References
  1. ^ "Management Team". nexTier Networks, Inc. Retrieved March 7, 2011.
Yes, I know that reference is not independent. Not all references need to be independent—just the ones that verify notability. —teb728 t c 02:18, 7 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Another thing: His college awards show promise but probably not notability. The Frost & Sullivan award might show notability, but since I have never heard of Frost & Sullivan, I can’t tell if it is an important award. It might help if you cited a source independent of both Mustafa and Frost & Sullivan that said it was an important award. —teb728 t c 02:43, 7 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Heomap1983,

In view of a few editors the rules of WP:BIO are not met by this article. That implies that the person is not notable enough to be included in Wikipidea yet. May be after a few years of some more achievements this person can be included. But for now, it doesn't seem like a good article for Wikipedia.

On a side note, I must complement your effort to prepare this article. I am sure you can find more notable people to write about, who are still not on Wikipedia. Please go through the list of Wikipedia:Requested articles to find something of interest to you. I wish you all the best.

regards

nexTier Networks

[edit]

I noticed your AFC nomination Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/nexTier Networks cites http://www.networkworld.com/news/2008/111708-security-companies.html?page=3 This was a bad reference to show notability, for it identifies nexTier as an up and coming company with no customers, which strongly indicates it was at that time not yet notable. —teb728 t c 02:52, 8 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Nextier logo.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Nextier logo.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —teb728 t c 03:24, 8 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
