Please do not create hoaxes on Wikipedia, as you did at HYDFC Logo.png. Doing so is considered to be vandalism and is prohibited. If you are interested in how accurate Wikipedia is, a more constructive test method would be to try to find inaccurate statements that are already in Wikipedia—and then to correct them if possible. If you would like to make test edits, please use the sandbox. Under section G3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, the page has been nominated for deletion. Repeated vandalism may result in the loss of editing privileges.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. A. [edit]

The page you added doesn't contain anything. So I have requested for deletion. If you are just experimenting then simply do it in your sandbox, or maybe try uploading files in commons. Thanks. A. Shohag 11:48, 20 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free content use

[edit]

Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. We always appreciate when users upload files. However, it appears that one or more of the files you have uploaded or added to a page, specifically User:ISL fan/Userboxes/Hyderabad FC, may fail our non-free policy. Most often, this involves editors uploading or using a copyrighted file of a living person. For other possible reasons, please read up on our Non-free criteria. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Marchjuly (talk) 11:48, 20 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi ISL fan. Non-free content can only be used in the article namespace per non-free content use criterion #9. This means they cannot be used in user boxes as explained in WP:UBX#Caution about image use. It’s OK if your weren’t aware that this was not allowed per Wikipedia’s non-free content use policy, but now you do. If you have a questions about this, feel free to post them below. Please don’t, however, re-add that file or any other non-free files to that page again. — Marchjuly (talk) 11:54, 20 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Uploading the same identical file under a different name just so that you can add it to your user box is not helping things and is just creating a bunch of new problems. If you have any questions about this, feel free to ask them below or at WP:MCQ, but please don’t do something like this again. It’s OK to make a mistake once, maybe even twice; however, if you keep making the same mistake over and over again, a Wikipedia administrator is likely going to step in and take some kind of action to stop such disruption. Image licensing and use can be tricky; so, it’s best to ask for help if you don’t understand what you can and cannot do. — Marchjuly (talk) 12:32, 20 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Image without license

[edit]

Unspecified source/license for File:HYDFC logo (1).png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:HYDFC logo (1).png. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time after the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|cc-by-sa-4.0}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by MifterBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: Once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. --MifterBot (TalkContribsOwner) 12:01, 20 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:HYDFC logo (1).png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for violating copyright policy by copying text or images into Wikipedia from another source without evidence of permission. Please take this opportunity to ensure that you understand our copyright policy and our policies regarding how to use non-free content.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  FASTILY 06:59, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I always used images from the web. I also showed license of the images. But they were rejected and I couldn't figure out how to find good images. I misunderstood copyright policy of Wikipedia. I didn't knew how to pick images for fair use. Please unblock me. I'll never now upload images and will try not to indulge in image creation. I wasn't ignoring warnings. Just Copyright policy was beyond my understanding and I knew that even Teahouse couldn't solve my problem. My copyright violations weren't intentional. This was due to my ignorance. Please unblock me.ISL fan (talk) 07:10, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

I accept that your violations may not have been intentional, but as copyright violations potentially put Wikipedia in legal jeopardy, we must be assured that you understand policy on copyright(WP:COPYVIO) before we can unblock you. You will need to be able to explain in your own words what exactly copyright is, as well as how and when copyrighted content can be used on Wikipedia before unblocking you can be considered. I must decline your request. 331dot (talk) 08:32, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I studied about copyright. As far as I understood,it's basically when for example,we can't copy or use a thing(photo, brand name, etc.) that is already in use and has a copyright. You would need a license or permission from publisher to use it. In my case,I used images which were already in use and most had copyright. And others were unverified or too similar to the copyright image. That's what I failed to understand. I've now learned where I was wrong. I'll not repeat my mistake. So that's why I must be unblocked.ISL fan (talk) 03:29, 22 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

In order to lift the block, we need to be certain that you understand how copyright works on Wikipedia. To allow the reviewing administrator to assess your understanding, please respond to the following questions in your next unblock appeal, explaining in your own words:

  • What is copyright?
  • How is Wikipedia licenced?
  • Why is copyrighted content not allowed on Wikipedia?
  • Under what circumstances can we use copyrighted content?
  • How do you intend to avoid violating the copyright policy in the future?

Your answers will enable us to establish whether or not you should be unblocked. Yamla (talk) 09:28, 22 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

As far as I know, copyright is imposed on something when the owner/publisher gains/has exclusive to produce it individually;no other person can violate copyright or else strict action is taken,as in my case. I already knew that most of the images in Wikipedia is licensed by a free license, like GFDL license and some others. Or they could be released on public domain. Under seldom circumstances,we can use copyrighted content that too under the fair use policy. Wikipedia doesn't allow copyright content if the terms of the given compatible license isn't met. I'll now never use copyright content, This'll automatically restrict me to violate copyright policy.ISL fan (talk) 11:42, 22 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

See comments below. JBW (talk) 14:13, 28 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • I think we are being too strict here. In the previous unblock request, user stated that they will not upload any images again. Maybe we should ask them about copyrights on text, and give a topic ban for uploading images. Hi. I am not an admin, so I can not review unblock requests. But some admin will come along, and review your request. I am not saying your username violates any policy, it doesnt do it at all. But I am curious what ISL means. It can many things including Internet Services Layer, Icehockey Super League, Information Systems Laboratory. Wanted to know what it was. —usernamekiran (talk) 12:07, 24 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It is Indian Super League. Pretty obvious from my edits.ISL fan (talk) 14:55, 24 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • I think that usernamekiran is understating it when he says "I think we are being too strict here" (my emphasis). ISL fan is blocked for violating copyright policy on images, but they have undertaken not to upload images any more, so the reason for the block no longer applies, and that should be the end of the matter. I find it really depressing how most administrators who regularly review unblock requests are so reluctant to unblock good faith blocked editors who have made it clear that they do not intend to continue doing whatever led to the block. I think we should unblock the editor, on condition of not uploading images, without more ado, but as a courtesy I will wait a while to give Fastily a chance to comment if he wishes to. JBW (talk) 13:56, 27 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@JBW: yes, exactly. Just for the precaution, we should tell ISL fan that copyrights also exist on text/prose, and we shouldn't copy-paste. —usernamekiran (talk) 15:55, 27 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
No opposition to an unblock. The user seems to understand that future offenses will result in another block. -FASTILY 23:39, 27 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • ISL fan, yes, usernamekiran is quite right. Please make sure you don't copy any kind of writing from anywhere else to Wikipedia, because if you do then there is a danger you may be blocked for copyright on text, rather than images. I have no reason to think you are likely to make that mistake, but you need to make sure you don't, because if you are blocked for copyright reasons a second time, it is likely to be even more difficult to get unblocked than this time. JBW (talk) 19:00, 27 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for supporting me. And sorry for my impatience.ISL fan (talk) 03:39, 28 July 2020 (UTC) I'll make sure copyright violations are no more an issue with me.ISL fan (talk) 11:19, 28 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:Giles Barnes Hyderabad.webp

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Giles Barnes Hyderabad.webp. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Salavat (talk) 14:56, 22 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for persistent copyright infringements. I can't tell whether, after all that has been said to you, you really thought that it would be acceptable to try to get round Wikipedia's copyright policy by uploading copyright-infringing material to Wikimedia Commons and linking to it from Wikipedia, or whether you knew full well what you were doing and thought that somehow we wouldn't see what you had done, but either way it is clear that your undertaking not to infringe ccopyright last time you were blocked was worth nothing.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  JBW (talk) 15:21, 31 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I mentioned my license in that image. Under the policy it was used in article also. I also have received message from a user telling me that my image had to be in an article. That image was an modified version of an screenshot in my device. I got format for that image from a related pic in Wikipedia Commons. If that wasn't copyright infringement, then I don't know what wrong I did. Every related image followed same format that I did. I fulfilled every criteria required for an image. That was my own work. My format is simmilar to other images. It wasn't copied from web. It was my own work. You may check what license cc-by-sa 4.0 allows. I studied previous warnings and the policies before creating that image in commons. I need an clafication how that image was violation of copyright. And at what basis you admins judged that theimage is a case of copyright violation. Please tell where I was wrong. I made a clear study of how to create images. I followed every rules and regulations. I am sure that what I did wasn't wrong. So I think my block should be considered as worthy to be revoked or at least,I must be given topic ban;banned from creating football related images. Before blocking,I must be told that I did again the same case. That would have made me cautious that I was in unchartered waters and I would have been more aware and could have revised the mistake. I'm a new editor. But I'm aware that a final warning is required unlike blocking in a go. Those who learn from mistakes do make mistakes in first phase of improvement. I must be unblocked consedering my arguements and views. In addition,if you go by concept of hanging the editor,I was the victim. But the hangman hung me without reading judgement CAREFULLY. Practically,my image wasn't visualised carefully. The image was seen but my background was neglected. In the concept,a fat noose was placed around my thin neck. I was blocked without any final warning. So please consider unblocking me. Thank you in advance.― ISL fan|   03:56, 1 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Concerning your request to "go by WP:ROPE guidelines", my response is that the previous unblock was WP:ROPE enough.

I apologise in advance because I am about to sound blunt, but there really is no other way to say this: I am afraid you seem to lack the competence required to constructively edit Wikipedia. You seem to misunderstand how copyright works and also how warnings and blocks work.

So, for me, it's a decline. Salvio 21:26, 1 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

And please read my statement carefully before coming to a judgement. And please provide good reason for your acceptance/declination. Please go by WP:ROPE guidelines;it's my humble request.

  • Three comments about your latest unblock request:
  1. If you really honestly think that making a screen shot of an image makes it your "own work", then you don't even vaguely begin to understand what copyright is about. If you are that far from understanding after all that has been said to you, and after you say you have "studied about copyright", then it is doubtful you are able to understand it.
  2. During your previous block you said "I'll never now upload images". I took that into account when deciding to unblock your account, as you can see if you read my comments, including when I wrote "ISL fan is blocked for violating copyright policy on images, but they have undertaken not to upload images any more, so the reason for the block no longer applies". Your promise never to upload images turned out to be worth nothing, and since the unblock was based on your undertaking not to upload images, that unblock is void. If you are unblocked because you say you won't do a particular thing, and then in fact you do that thing, you can scarcely be surprised when you find the block is restored. You could have avoided this block very easily, simply by sticking to what you said you would do, but you chose not to.
  3. You say that a final warning is required before a block. You are totally wrong about that, but in any case you had plenty of warnings. If after receiving six messages warning you about copyright infringements, and then a block for the same, you think you need to be warned yet again before being blocked for the same again, then I wonder what on earth you can be thinking.
