game - match

Seriously, it doesn't always work, there is nothing wrong with saying game here and there on footy articles, please stop Vulcanising the articles. Govvy (talk) 11:53, 8 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I do have an explanation for this Govvy, the user Mattythewhite has modified Paul McShane (footballer) changing the word game to match here. Iggy the Swan (talk) 12:00, 8 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Match is preferred to game in British English. Mattythewhite (talk) 14:33, 8 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Soccerbase season bot request

Hello. It was a good idea, but it was a bit rushed. What we should have done, is thought through exactly what was required, and then clearly explained it to the bot operator. Rather than expecting them to guess what to do with the season_id=146 problem or with the output |name= parameter (which isn't required by the template on that player's own page but is absolutely required if {{soccerbase season}} is used as a reference in a different article). What they mostly did with the 146s is left them alone, which is obviously better than mis-converting them, but it does mean there are still a couple of hundred cite-web format references with the incorrect season_id=146. See Special:Search/insource: "season_id=146". cheers, Struway2 (talk) 10:12, 22 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Cheers Struway2 for that, I will see what will happen when I change 146 to 149 to the ones listed on the link you gave me. Iggy (talk) 13:15, 22 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I did not notice how many results were there at the top, this would take a while - I will ping Mattythewhite, Govvy, Struway2 and GiantSnowman and work this through together. Changing all occurrences from cite web references where the id=146 to the shorter template with the 2016 as the season to start with and 147 with 2017 if there are any. Use the quoted season_id=146 link for all the pages which have that insource. Iggy (talk) 13:36, 22 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Icelandic names

Hi Iggy, Sorting for Icelandic names is explained in WP:NAMESORT I think I've done it right for Birkir Bjarnason, Thanks... GrahamHardy (talk) 21:15, 11 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

{{DEFAULTSORT:Birkir Bjarnason}} v {{DEFAULTSORT:Bjarnason Birkir}} I think it differs slightly & I may know what thinks like [[Category:Iceland youth international footballers|Birkir Bjarnason]] now does - when viewing the category, they list 'Birkir' in alphabetical order so I guess that could work. Iggy (talk) 21:45, 11 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Iggy the Swan, and hello GrahamHardy.
I have cancelled this modification of WP:NAMESORT. Guidelines reflect consensus, and consensus is changed thanks to talk pages. A guideline can not be changed just because one non-compliant article has been found.
I suppose that you were unsure about the functioning of sort keys and DEFAULTSORT when you wrote "I do not understand the piped additions as they do not work in categories" here and "I think it differs slightly" above. So I have two illustrations of the guideline:
  1. Category:Standard Liège players is not an icelandic category, so you can see the order Dudu Biton < Birkir Bjarnason < George Blay, thanks to {{DEFAULTSORT:Bjarnason, Birkir}}
  2. Category:Icelandic expatriate footballers is an icelandic category, so you can see the order Atli Eðvaldsson < Birkir Bjarnason < Birkir Kristinsson, thanks to the sort key "Birkir Bjarnason" on this category
I hope this helps. Regards --NicoScribe (talk) 17:24, 28 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Do you plan to correct your modifications of DEFAULTSORT done on 11 October 2017 about Icelandic footballers? --NicoScribe (talk) 17:00, 10 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Qarabağ

Salam.

Looks like that may be an incorrect change by me, they are Azerbaijan not Armenian, sorry Template:2017–18 UEFA Champions League Group C table for that minor error. (I do not understand that message but the word Azərbaycanın looked like Azerbaijan in the language). Iggy (talk) 07:10, 19 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello there Iggy, from Portugal, answering your question, i came to that conclusion just by clicking on the geolocate field that is available here. That has nothing to do, i assure you, with racial issues, it is just a header i use everytime i contact said user/admin regarding the subject. This person is a real ballbuster, i tell you, no respect for other people's work. Attentively --Quite A Character (talk) 01:08, 27 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Attentively I get that, thanking you, Iggy (talk) 06:51, 27 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, let me know if he re-appears. GiantSnowman 17:24, 31 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

polite request

I was in the process of updating Harry Winks stats and you went and added the league stats to the table why I was trying to add it all together, you missing the cup games! I wouldn't of minded so much if you had it all correct, but the fact you missed the cup games while I was doing to update did bug me! heh, Just maybe you could wait 10 minutes or so next time to see if I update the table also, cheers. Govvy (talk) 12:30, 4 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about that. I have also posted whilst you were typing your polite request message. Iggy (talk) 12:33, 4 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there IGGY, all OK? You were 100% correct to partially revert me in this article, i should have waited for the game to end before i updated anything. Attentively, sorry for any inconvenience --Quite A Character (talk) 18:30, 5 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Davide Zappacosta Article edit

Hello there, the Appearances and Goals on the Articles are clearly more than those, how do I appropriately edit??? Olabode101 (talk) 18:51, 5 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

These footballer stats in the infoboxes are for league matches only, not the overall totals. Soccerbase says he has played four matches in the Premier League without any goals so far. Questions, complaints... Iggy (talk) 18:56, 5 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

two-second-half vs two second-half

Struway2 - this is my first day in using that script, edits I did were Seb Larsson & Alex Morgan which I didn't know about. I will check the other edits of that type which I did today. Iggy (talk) 18:37, 12 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Don't worry, you've done nothing wrong. Scripts are like any tool: they work best when you know what they're good at and what they're not. It's up to the user to recognise when to skip a suggestion that isn't a good one, and it isn't always obvious. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 19:56, 12 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for letting me know my name had been mentioned. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 10:44, 24 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Angel Rangel's birth date

Hello there, fellow editor! Rangel has confirmed recently that his birthday is indeed on the 28 of NOVEMBER. Check his twitter account, the posts from the 28t of November and the 28th of October and see for yourself. Editorbg1 (talk) 21:45, 30 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Apparently it's true. There were edits about his birth month changed back in October. Iggy (talk) 21:46, 30 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Editing Live Matches

Hello I have been doing this for a while and never had a problem from anyone else. Just a quick question, why shouldn't you do this? (I'm quite new BTW) Youngtomlin (talk) 17:44, 2 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:Manual of Style says 'the current consensus is to not add visible match or frame scores to an article until the match is completed' and I have seen Mattythewhite reverting on live updating in the past. Thanks, Iggy (talk) 17:50, 2 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Date formats via script

Hi. Just writing to let you know, please be careful when using scripts fixing date formats on song pages, as the UK and Scottish single chart templates have a date parameter that needs to stay yyyy-mm-dd to work (or did, before its documentation was updated). Thanks. Ss112 08:15, 29 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, I did not know about the fact that this needs to stay in the date format you said. I apologise to that, Iggy (talk) 06:24, 3 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Please check Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism before reverting the article to an inferior state. The vandal is battling with numerous users across Wiki. No content dispute here, just pure malevolent behaviour. 173.224.116.233 (talk) 14:39, 28 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

So far (14:48 UTC), we have the following count that the numerous editing happened over the last four days (25 to 28 October)-
User:Simply-the-truth : 40 edits (User)
User:173.224.116.233 : 16 edits (IP)
User:Iggy the Swan : 1 edit (User)
User:Keith D : 1 edit (User)
User:Naard : 1 edit (Blocked User)
User:Tuzapicabit : 1 edit (User)
User:199.114.218.118 : 3 edit (IP)
User:Goodreg3 : 3 edits (User)
Total: 64 edits
That is what I call disruptive editing between two users, and I did not know what was going on with all that. There has not yet been any action against all this & something needs to happen for that to stop. Cheers, Iggy (talk) 14:58, 28 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Just wanted to let you know that I added the name of the user, to clarify who you were referring to. I hope that's OK, otherwise please feel free to revert. Rgds, --LK (talk) 08:16, 8 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

A friendly tip regarding your edits to Scooby-Doo (film)

Hi. While I really appreciate you trying to fix up DBG Channel's poorly worded and capitalized additions, please make sure that the information is actually correct first. None of the information he provided was sourced and much of it didn't make sense. Such as this "A reboot titled S.C.O.O.B was originally planned for a September 21, 2018 release, is now going to be released on May 15, 2020." The S.C.O.O.B page actually redirects to a draft page which actually mentions in the lead that "S.C.O.O.B." is no longer the title of the production and it has been delayed until 2020. There also was no source for any of the "reception" pieces the user added. His edit which stated the films were released "both to mixed reception" is completely unfounded and there is no indication of where the "mixed reception" from viewers came from. But anyways, not intending to sound snarky or get frustrated with you for not noticing - it's a simple mistake which I could have easily made myself - just wanted to give you a friendly tip for next time. Cheers, Katniss May the odds be ever in your favor ♥ 00:54, 10 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

KatnissEverdeen Ok, thanks for the tip with the fact that was unsourced content. May the odds by ever in our favor, Iggy (talk) 04:57, 10 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. Thanks for the Hunger Games pun! :) Katniss May the odds be ever in your favor ♥ 04:58, 10 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I have never heard of the Hunger Games before, I was only thinking about the fact that these odds would be in our favor from the quote from this signature. Iggy (talk) 21:48, 11 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, haha. Long story short, my username is a reference to the heroine and main character of The Hunger Games series named Katniss Everdeen. The quote is a recurring line in the book/movie series from Katniss. Several people who had a soft spot for the character (I thought my username was somewhat of an obscure reference, so I was surprised so many people were familiar with it!) started leaving me talk page messages with "May the odds be ever in your favor" worked into it (as a sort of inside joke for those who know the series), so I decided to add it to my signature. So naturally when I saw your quote, I presumed you were another one of those people who liked the series. But nonetheless the unintentional reference made me smile so thanks! :) Katniss May the odds be ever in your favor ♥ 01:30, 12 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
