Request for help

Hello JT, Thank you for your great contributions to the Young soulja the realest article. Great catch! By any chance did you know how to edit the case in the display title? I am trying to change the case format so the "S" "T" "R" are capitalized as follows "Young Soulja The Realest" instead of lower case "soulja the realest." I would love to have your help on this Wefindtalent4u (talk) 22:06, 23 January 2016 (UTC)wefindtalent4u

Hello, I saw your name here. I've written the article Mayor Galo de la Torre Airport and found some additional info I can't really understand. I was wondering if you could summarise for me (mainly the beginning of) the paragraph starting "VISTOS: El señor Juez Primero..." at this link. Many thanks if you have the time!! - ✈Sunnya343✈ (talk) 23:36, 4 February 2016 (UTC)

Philip Dvorsky Page deleted??

Hi there.

I do not understand why did the Philip Dvorsky artist page has to be deleted. PD is a Ztohoven artist group and each of members of this group deserves its own page as Roman Tyc has - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roman_T%C3%BDc

Thank you for your explanation

Information icon Hello JTtheOG. Thanks for patrolling new pages – it's a very important task! I'm just letting you know, however, that you shouldn't tag pages as lacking context (CSD A1), content (CSD A3), or significance (CSD A7) moments after they are created, as you did at Sh. Abdullah Rashid. It's best to wait at least 10–15 minutes for more content to be added if the page is very short, and the articles should not be marked as patrolled. Tagging such pages in a very short space of time may drive away well-meaning contributors, which is not good for Wikipedia. Attack pages (G10), blatant nonsense (G1), copyright violations (G12) and pure vandalism/blatant hoaxes (G3) should of course be tagged and deleted immediately. Thanks. Adam9007 (talk) 01:11, 5 March 2016 (UTC)

Use of Not English template

Hi, I noticed that on the page Normaisarah binti Mohamad you missed the final step of listing it at WP:PNT, where the article would come to the attention of people capable of translating it. In this case I have not listed it there because, on the basis of the google translation, it looks like a non-notable autobiography. So I have nominated it for A' speedy deletion instead. It is questionable if the subject of the article is notable enough to warrant an article of his own. You should add more rindependent news articles from reliable sources that go more into why he is notable. See Wikipedia:Notability. JTtheOG (talk) 02:39, 15 March 2016 (UTC)

@Neilsen 83: Great job! Just remember to add those credible references whenever you write an article and you'll be fine. JTtheOG (talk) 14:42, 15 March 2016 (UTC)

Just a note

You might want to give a new page a few minutes more than a half hour before tagging it as an orphan - especially when a search would indicate it is easy to de-orphan and the creating editor is still actively working on the page...You tagged my page 2 minutes after I posted that I was doing clean up on it and about 30 minutes after it was initially created. It caused an edit conflict which can be irritating especially for a tag that about 10 minutes later would not apply. So - thanks for looking out for Wikipedia but perhaps investigate before tagging? ☕ Antiqueight haver 22:08, 18 March 2016 (UTC)

Jenna Fife

What is wrong with the Jenna Fife page? There are at least 5 references, including UEFA.com and the Hibernian ladies own official page (Pitchero). Why is it in discussion for deletion? Where can I find that discussion? Funafuti1978 (talk) 06:47, 29 March 2016 (UTC)

@Funafuti1978: Hi. Wikipedia's General notability guidelines states that the topic must receive "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject," significant coverage being something that "addresses the topic directly and in detail." Additionally, Wikipedia's notability guidelines for football players recommend the subject have at least one cap in a professional league or in an international game. The SWPL, while Scotland's top league, is not currently on the list of Fully professional leagues, and she has not made an international appearance. If you can find a reference that says that the SWPL is fully professional, we can add it to the list and Jenna Fife would be considered notable (if she also passes the general notability guidelines). Peggy Rae Sapienza article tags Comment

Hi JT - I saw that you tagged this article - but you did not leave any specifics as to your issues with NPOV on the Talk page, as is recommended. If you can find any less-than-positive info out there to cite I will be happy to include it. I was not able to find any. There may be some comments that reflect a summary impression of the content of the cited material, rather than specific cites. Is this not permissible? I have never seen it as an issue before. Also, as far as notability, I can see that your interests do not lie in this area, so I wonder what criteria you are looking for to consider notable in this field? This article is well-referenced and linked to other Wikipedia pages. As far as categorizations, I have added three of the most obvious ones, I am sure there are more that can be added but I am not very familiar with available categories so I left that to someone who has more knowledge there. Please leave some specifics about your issues on the article's Talk page so I can address them, otherwise the tags do not seem appropriate. Thank you. Riverpa (talk) 22:55, 4 April 2016 (UTC)

@Riverpa: Hi! :) Thank you for your articulate inquiry. It wasn't about any possible negative information out there. I just thought that there was a lot of intricate information (especially about her personal life) in the article that suggested that the creator may have a Conflict of Interest. That is not necessarily a bad thing, but it does mean there needs to be more citations to confirm it. Condensing information from sources is encouraged, and is probably where all the unsourced material came from. I will remove that tag, and as for the categories, I think your recent edits solved that. Thank you, again. JTtheOG (talk) 02:40, 5 April 2016 (UTC)

Please avoid changing "Trump" to "Drumpf"

Hi JTtheOG. In one of your recent edits, you changed the word "Trump" to "Drumpf". I assume that this was unintentional and caused by having the Drumpfinator extension enabled. Dami Tha Prince

How is none of the sources notable? On Dami Tha Prince article? Don't you think saying "quasi" is VERY opinionated? The song has gathered more than 10 million plays. I don't think that's very fair of you to try and take this article down, when evidently and realistically NOT everyone can achieve that. Second, there are 11 sources and you stated all of them were social media profiles. There are a total of 11 sources and ONLY 4 of them are social media sources; twitter, youtube, and soundcloud. ALL verifiable information which is why I believe it is included. In addition, this subject has produced for one of the biggest artists coming up now, Bryson Tiller. Which verifiable information was also provided. I think you guys are looking too much into this page and missing things that are right there. All the information and sources used are correct and meet guidelines. 2601:CA:8500:B270:F8F4:5095:2C98:6C5C (talk) 14:10, 10 September 2016 (UTC)

Basically you are saying is that "not notable", "that song isn't even popular". I think you are taking it too far, how can one that does not know or probably has anything to do with music say something like that? 10 million plays is ALOT. Let's be real, can you get ONE million plays? No disrespect, just really confused when sources and everything MATCH. This needs to be thrown out JT!Producerartwriter (talk) 14:29, 10 September 2016 (UTC)

@Producerartwriter: @2601:CA:8500:B270:F8F4:5095:2C98:6C5C: Not that it matters at all, but Montana of 300 and L'A Capone are actually my top 2 favorite artists (RIP LA). Getting to the actual issue though, at the moment, the article fails WP:GNG, but that does not mean we cannot get it up to par with notability standards. He may very well be the most notable producer out of Atlanta, but the sources provided simply do not prove that. What we need to find for this subject is "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject, it is presumed to be suitable for a stand-alone article." The MTV profile is a good start, but even better sources would be online articles reporting a new album, new label signing, personal info, his childhood story, his road to success, etc. As an example, Metro Boomin has sources from The Fader, The Washington Post, Vibe Magazine, Jenesis Magazine, XXL, Complex, Stereogum, Pitchfork, and Billboard, while the article in question uses sources such as Twitter, Soundcloud, YouTube, The Daily Loud, Discogs, PSB Pop Culture, and the ITunes store. Now, regarding the page itself, please stop deleting the AfD template from the article. It is only a discussion, and we can close it and decide to keep the article once adequate sources are provided. Good luck.JTtheOG (talk) 18:04, 10 September 2016 (UTC)

Women Together

Hi, I am very upset that the wikipedia entry for Women Together was deleted. This is not a self-promotion issue! The foundation is very established, having started in 1996. There is little press on the foundation because it has dedicated many years to developing programs around the world, and not only does it deserve to be known, but there are also many people who have requested there be more information online and a wikipedia is essential for those searching further info on the foundation and because this is a very important organization. The Women Together foundation hosts an annual gala at the United Nations headquarters in New York, and recipients of the awards include, Iris Apfel (this year), H.M. Queen Rania of Jordan, Anna Wintour, Mario Testino, Eileen Rockefeller, etc. All this information can be found on the website www.womentogether.org. Please help me contest this deletion and put the site back as it was! Thank you.

--LifestyleDesignMedia (talk) 21:47, 13 June 2016 (UTC)

Hi @LifestyleDesignMedia:! The page seemed promotional to me; it was not a page stating subjective facts, but a page advertising the organization. However, this does not mean that a subjective page is impossible to create. A tip I'd give you is to cite as many third-party sources confirming notability as you can, and to cite your website as little as possible. You might have to find third-party sources from these other countries you do your work in. That's okay; you can include them. I'd also advise you to find sources covering the annual gala you host. Good luck. JTtheOG (talk) 05:16, 14 June 2016 (UTC)

Reply

Thank you for your helpful reply. I received a much lengthier one from someone else, that was actually less helpful. Does that happen often? Several opinions at once?? I will try and do what you suggest, only the initial problem I have seen they have is VERY little press, considering the MASSIVE amount of positive work they've done, how long they've been around, the "celebrity status" of some past awardees, etc. They really need help getting their presence online and deserve it, as many people have asked (as I have asked myself) why it's so difficult to find info/press about them online. I have had the good fortune to meet several of the people that collaborate with WT and the amazing programs they have developed, one of which, in the Caribbean country I found myself living in recently. The photos at first were deleted and they were given me to use for whatever was deemed necessary, but I still wanted to add the photogs name, but that apparently caused a red flag...which is confusing? Give credit or not give credit, even if one has the permission to use an image? All your advice is helpful, and I still want this up and running ASAP because it deserves to be posted, probably more so than many other posts out there. Do you have access to my original post, so I can work from there? Thank you! --LifestyleDesignMedia (talk) 03:38, 15 June 2016 (UTC)

@LifestlyeDesignMedia: Unfortunately, I do not have access to the deleted article. If you do not find sufficient press, the only thing I could suggest is that you advise those working for WT to invite the media to their events, galas, fundraisers, etc. Here are a few sources I found online from this month:

Good luck, and you know how to contact me for any further assistance. JTtheOG (talk) 05:03, 15 June 2016 (UTC)

Hey @HyperGaruda: Would you explain what exactly has he/she been doing before I say something? JTtheOG (talk) 23:23, 14 June 2016 (UTC)
Just pick any of this user's creations, but you will see that they are all machine translations from their es-wiki counterparts. Some have already expressed concerns about these "translations" on the user's talk page, but this seems to be a case of either "I didn't hear you" or "I didn't understand you". In any case, the machine translations keep on coming. It is possible that Cadejoblanco does not understand English, which is the reason for my request for a Spanish warning. - HyperGaruda (talk) 02:20, 15 June 2016 (UTC)

@IVANDRAGOPETROVICH: In order for your article to avoid deletion, it needs to pass the guidelines of WP:NMMA (for an mma fighter) and WP:GNG (for a living person). Your article fails both, because he fighter in question has not fought three fights in a top-level MMA organization (namely the UFC) and the fighter has not received considerate media coverage from reliable independent media sources. Invite to the African Destubathon

Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:13, 6 October 2016 (UTC)

Hello.

@Aabdullayev851: The proposed deletion is not in discussion. It's up to the administrator to decide if it passes WP:NFOOTY and WP:GNG. What you can do (if you think the article should stay) is improve it so that it's up to standards. Include multiple references from reliable third-party sources that confirm the subject's notability. If the admin sees an improvement, he will not delete the page. JTtheOG (talk) 03:03, 26 October 2016 (UTC)
Can you check article again. I added some references. Please give me some advice. I just started article in English Wikipedia and my English is not good enough. --Aabdullayev851 (talk) 18:42, 26 October 2016 (UTC)
@Aabdullayev851: Hey Abdulla. You have done a great job with the article, but the problem is that I just don't think that Kyle Ihn passes the notability standards. Firstly, he plays in the PDL, which is the fourth division of football in the United States. I suggest that you use your article-creating skills to make article for players who clearly pass the guidelines. Please see the list at WP:FPL for a list of football leagues that are fully professional. Players that have made at least one appearance in these leagues will almost always be regarded as notable. What I do is I go to the list and find a league, then find a team and look at their roster. From there, I create articles of players who do not yet have an article. Again, you have done a great job with Kyle Ihn, but I don't think his article will stay. Good luck and I hope to see you contribute ! JTtheOG (talk) 03:34, 27 October 2016 (UTC)

User group: New Page Reviewr

Hello JTtheOG.

Based on the patrols you made of new pages during a qualifying period in 2016, your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group, allowing you to review new pages and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or in some cases, tag them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed.

New page reviewing is a vital function for policing the quality of the encylopedia, if you have not already done so, you must read the new tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the various deletion criteria. If you need more help or wish to discuss the process, please join or start a thread at page reviewer talk.

  • Be nice to new users - they are often not aware of doing anything wrong.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted - be formal and polite in your approach to them too, even if they are not.
  • Don't review a page if you are not sure what to do. Just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Remember that quality is quintessential to good patrolling. Take your time to patrol each article, there is no rush. Use the message feature and offer basic advice.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In case of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, the right can be revoked at any time by an administrator. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 01:34, 19 November 2016 (UTC)

ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open!

Hello, JTtheOG. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)

New Page Review - newsletter

Hello JTtheOG,
Breaking the back of the backlog
We now have 816 New Page Reviewers! Most of you requested the user right to be able to do something about the huge backlog. Now it's time for action.
Mid July to 01 Oct 2016

If each reviewer does only 10 reviews a day over five days, the backlog will be down to zero and the daily input can then be processed by each reviewer doing only 2 or 3 reviews a day - that's about 5 minutes work!
