In an attempt to rebuild and strenghten the Yu-Gi-Oh! related Wikipedia community, I am trying to re-start the Yu-Gi-Oh! Wikiproject located here. Hope you join! Moe ε 00:08, 2 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Esperanza Newsletter, Issue #2

[edit]
The Barnstar Brigade is a new program aimed at giving more very deserving yet unappreciated users barnstars. It will officially start on 2006-04-09, but signing up is encouraged before this date:
"Here in Wikipedia, there are hundreds of wikipedians whose work and efforts go un-appreciated. One occasionally comes across editors who have thousands of good edits, but because they may not get around as much as others, their contributions and hard work often go un-noticed. Sadly, these editors often leave the project. As Esperanzians, we can help to make people feel appreciated, be it by some kind words or the awarding of a Barnstar. A project the size of Wikipedia has thousands of editors, so there are plenty of people out there who deserve recognition, one just has to find them. The object of this program is not to flood editors with Barnstars, but to seek out people who deserve them, and make them feel appreciated."
The Stress alerts program aims at identifying users who are stressed, alerting the community of thier stress and works in tandem with the Stressbusters at trying to identify causes of stress and eliminating them.
Information
Welcome to the second issue of the new format Esperanza Newsletter - we hope you still like it! This week, it was delivered diligently by our new dogsbody. MiszaBot (run by Misza13): any execution complaints should go to him. Content comments should be directed at the Esperanza talkpage. Thanks!
  1. The next elections: Approval voting as before and, also as before, an previous leadership member can run. Please submit your name for voting in the relevant section of this page. Voting starts on 2006-04-23 and ends on 2006-04-30. There will be three places up for grabs as KnowledgeOfSelf is leaving Wikipedia. Please see the previously linked page for full details.
  2. The Code of Conduct is now ready for extensive discussion! Specific comments should go to the Code of Conduct talk page, discussion of having one at all should be directed to the main Esperanza talk page.
  3. The current process for accepting proposals for new programs has been deemed fine. All Advisory Council members and the Admin Gen are to endevour to be bold when viewing discussion. If they feel that consensus has been reached, they will act accordingly.
A plea from the editor...
The propsed programs page is terribly underused! Please leave any comments, good or bad, on the page, to help us determine the membership's thoughts on the ideas there.
Signed...

  • Hi Danny. This is Neptune KH. I want to talk you about adding links for SailorMoon sites. Shouldn't it be up to the fans whether they like the website or not? And what difference does it make if it's a fansite? I add links in the Xena Warrior Princess characters and they don't get deleted. So why not be resonable and try to look at the website first and if it's a good one then let it stay. 23:10, 6 April 2006 (UTC)23:10, 6 April 2006 (UTC)23:10, 6 April 2006 (UTC)~ Neptunekh 23:13, 6 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Fansites are explicitly not allowed on Wikipedia. Read the article on fansites. Danny Lilithborne 23:12, 6 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Some Voice Credits uncredited

[edit]

I really heard the voices in Time Crisis 3 long enough, most of the people in the game are uncredited in their voice work. This isn't the first time I've seen voice actors go uncredited in a particular video game. Lynn Harris has been uncredited (as far as I know, she has voiced just about all female characters who are heroic and/or hostages) for Time Crisis 3 and Crisis Zone for the PlayStation. Sometimes you might recognize the voice, but consequently, the voice actress isn't credited in a video game. I realized that Alicia has been voiced by the same voice actress who voiced Rachel MacPherson and Christy Ryan in the previous Time Crisis games, but apparently in Time Crisis 3, no voice actor has been credited.

So I have to say that Lynn Harris isn't alone, but so far I have to say that she's been uncredited in at least two video games. Are you sure that it wasn't Lynn Harris who voiced Alicia Winston? I could have swore when I played Time Crisis 3 a lot, Alicia's voice seemed to belong to Lynn Harris.

Like I said, there has been instances that a voice actor/voice actress/seiyuu has been uncredited in video games, though they provide the voice for it. Lynn Harris isn't alone, as I've seen many video gaming companies not crediting voice actors/voice actresses/seiyuus for their voice work (i.e. Norio Wakamoto did the voice for Master Bison in the Capcom VS. SNK Series, but was not given any credit at the end credits), so keep in mind that a voice actor/voice actress/seiyuu isn't overzealous--it's just that they did the voice work for a character (If you know the voice of a particular someone, you should credit although it might be unconfirmed) and the game didn't credit them for the work. Video game companies should give credit to the voice actor/voice actress/seiyuu where due. — Mark Kim 04:11, 9 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • I know a lot of people get uncredited work. :) But Lynn Harris is a special case; she seemed to appear out of nowhere on IMDB and claimed credit for many games in which she could not have possibly done. (For example, the CPS1 and CPS2 Street Fighter games used speech synthesis to generate the voices, so she could not have done Chun-Li for those games.) Some ridiculous credit was also given (NES Metal Gear, Chun-Li in Street Fighter) and a poster by the name of "ocean_secrets" (likely also "AmazonFighter") heavily hypes Ms. Harris. Add that up with the anime photograph on IMDB and how she just happens to be the only voice credit for the majority of the games she's listed in, and all evidence points to a hoax. I just want to see something substantive that shows that Ms. Harris even exists as a voice actress. (this was also posted on Vesther's talk page) Danny Lilithborne 04:31, 9 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding Sophitia

[edit]

Didn't know that :P...ok, that's enough proof for me, thanks for the clarification. Now I'd want to know who made all the SE western voices, damn...(Johnny Master 05:40, 9 April 2006 (UTC)).[reply]

Do your research

XX's Story Mode; hardly a reliable source
If the game itself isn't a reliable source, what is? teh TK 06:41, 11 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • I didn't say that Story Mode was an unreliable source, I said that I-No was an unreliable source. Just to double check, I went through all the win quotes and endings myself and I fail to find anything that even suggests Millia is homo/bisexual other than I-No's false bounties. Again, I need something very specific, or I'm deleting it again. (this was also posted on TKarrde's talk page) Danny Lilithborne 06:44, 11 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
    • I went and "did my research" like you asked, and found absolutely no evidence of Millia's bisexuality in XX. Check the talk page. I cannot find winquotes for X, but lack of evidence against does not equate to evidence for. I removed the claim. You're welcome to re-add it IF you can find me a quote of Millia hitting on Jam or some other thing that hints to her sexuality outside of the probably false claims of I-No. Danny Lilithborne 00:57, 13 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Esperanza hopes that your stress will blow away soon.
  • I'll second that. As far as I can tell, you didn't do anything inappropriate. Maybe there's a genuine disagreement about the content on that page, but for someone to make a vandalism accusation is over the top. In any case, I hope the situation calms down soon. --Elkman - (talk) 01:16, 13 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Naruto and Bleach

[edit]

Yes, but writing with first letter caps/without caps would again have some disambig issues, Naruto being Japanese locations and Bleach being, uh, the stuff that turns clothes, etc. white. Either the caps stay, put (anime and manga) at the end, or (animanga) which is to include both as one word to neutralize the anime/manga word priority (e.g. Bugs and Daffy or is it Daffy and Bugs?). But then animanga is not as recognized as either word is. What to do? --Geopgeop 07:14, 13 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Naruto

[edit]

Actually, the English manga uses the Japanese order (Uzumaki Naruto), while the English anime uses the Western order (Naruto Uzumaki).

The manga came first and is the original format for the series, so the Japanese order is preferred here. WhisperToMe 20:35, 16 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your weight

Yeah, I'm really sorry, I just noticed and then I started worrying about it, and worrying about it, and eventually decided to put something on your talk page, and than my brother really told me off about it, so I took it off, and I'm really sorry I said anything. What am I? The weight patrol? What was I thinking? I'm really sorry. Sergeant Snopake, 16:33, 19th of April 2006 (UTC)

E-Mail from Tiamat

[edit]

Hi. I recieved a return e-mail from dear Tiamat. We did a bit of diggging, and the confusion arose from the Kanji of the character for Bushido, which should actually be interepreted as Budo, which is a different, less civalrous japanese concept that, as Tiamat describes, "which would be more like bushido, the full contact art emphasizing combat, no holding back. As a ninja Ibuki wouldn't tone down her style to the level of a martial art, bettering yourself and others, practicing it as a sport and only using it for self defense as a last resort, shunning violence." I've gone ahead and changed this as well. Also note that Tiamat is still updatig his FAQ at descriminate intervals and is still awaiting confirmation from the Gamefaqs site for acceptance of his next version, so we should feel free to engae in discussion if anything is iffy. -ZeroTalk 08:03, 22 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wow, there's a wiki for that?? What is the fricking world coming to!! Zamza-zah with crushers extended? LOL! I've been laughing for 10 minutes already. Incidentally, it's terrific you know that you're a male submissive. I should try that sometime - but then I am already married, so do I really need two dominatrices? LOL. You, meanwhile, have an amazingly interesting userpage, complete with real name and everything. See you around. - CrazyRussian talk/contribs/email 02:05, 25 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

So you may or may not be Ricardo, a Baha`i ageplayer/submissive? Hmm... the plot thickens! lol... no reply necessary. - CrazyRussian talk/contribs/email 02:18, 25 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add the sprotect template to the article yourself, as only admins can actually carry out the protection (the template is simply a notice of the protection, it doesn't actually protect the article). I've have now semi protected the article, as it is hard to block dynamic IPs without causing a lot of collateral damage. In future if you need an article protected you can put a request in here, and if an IP needs blocking after warning see WP:AIV. Thanks for helping out! Cheers, Petros471 10:05, 1 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No problem :) Petros471 10:19, 1 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm going to have to go soon, so I can't do much now. You might find the {{verror2}}, {{verror4}}, {{verror4}} useful. As I said above WP:RFPP for page protection and WP:AIV for blocks. As they are moving across lots of articles protection might not be appropriate, so might have to get an admin onto it to issue a load of short blocks. If you don't get a response at AIV because of 'too few warnings' or something try WP:AN/I with an explanation of the problem. Hope that helps, sorry I can't do more now. Petros471 12:22, 1 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Would you consider changing your vote to keep the information if it were merged with List of groups referred to as cults or expanded into a broader topic: "The Transition from Cult to Religion." That might make a very interesting wikipedia article. cairoi 17:45, 1 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. I thought that somewhere it would make worthwhile information too. cairoi 03:16, 2 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Esperanza Newsletter, Issue #3

[edit]
The Administrator Coaching program is a program aimed at preparing Wikipedians for Adminship or helping them understand the intricacies of Wikipedia better. Recently, changes have been made to the requirements of coachees. Please review them before requesting this service.
This would be something like the Welcoming Committee, but for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. Some might like suggestions about how to learn vandal patrol, or mentoring on taking an article to featured status, or guidance with a proposal they plan to make at the Village Pump, for example. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Wikipedia because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins.
The Stressbusters are a subset of Esperanza aiming to investigate the causes of stress. New eyes on the situation are always welcome!
Note from the editor
As always, MiszaBot handled this delivery. Thank you! Also, congratulations go to Pschemp, Titoxd and Freakofnurture for being elected in the last elections! An Esperanzial May to all of the readership!
  1. Posting logs of the Esperanza IRC channel are explicitly banned anywhere. Violation of this rule results in deletion and a ban from the channel.
  2. A disclaimer is going to be added to the Esperanza main page. We are humans and, as such, are imperfect.
  3. Various revisions have been made to the Code of Conduct. Please see them, as the proposal is ready to be ratified by the community and enacted. All members will members to have to re-confirm their membership after accepting the Code of Conduct.
  4. Referendums are to be held on whether terms of AC members should be lengthened and whether we should abolish votes full stop.
  5. Admin Coaching reform is agreed upon.

Revert war on Sailor Moon article

[edit]

I believe you should have advised User:KAS about the three-revert rule here on Wikipedia. I've just had to block that user for violating it. I was asleep when the whole debacle happened, so I didn't have an opportunity to warn KAS. Denelson83 22:26, 11 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There is nothing whatsoever on the talk page (except a brief, rude comment posted by you) explaining why Evangelion does not belong on the Lilith page. It is relevant and does not merely borrow the name, but actually the concept, of Lilith, which, according to the guidelines in the section, indicates that it DOES belong in the article and not just the disambig page. Sailor Starlight Reversal Edit Summary?

[edit]

Um...You PMed me about a Sailor Starlight Edit Reversal, but I can't see your edit summary! (I'm a newbie...so I might be doing something wrong.) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by MitchellTF (talkcontribs) . I'm also not quite up on signing my posts, with the code, but it's okay. I don't really consider 'non-notable' that rude, but was admitedly slightly curious about WHY it was considered non-notable, since I'm relatively new. Also, I need to check up on how to respond better...E-mail?

And I want to thank you for sending me a smile. You made my day. And tommrow is Mother's day and I hope you and your family have a wonderful Mother's day. I wish you a wonderful summer. "Vandalism" on English language

[edit]

Hi, thanks for reverting User:Thused at English language. However, the insertion of backslashes before apostrophes is almost never intentional vandalism, but rather an artifact of using an open proxy server. Because these are dangerous, users with open-proxy servers get blocked indefinitely. Next time you encounter an edit involving the insertion of backslashes before apostrophes, please (if you're an admin) block the user indefinitely, putting {{openproxy}} on their user page, or (if you're not an admin) leave a note at WP:AN or WP:ANI asking someone else to do so. Thanks! Angr (tc) 05:48, 15 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
