Hi Peppy Paneer, thanks for helping me. I have a couple questions for you, please, direct me on explanatory article on how to insert an photo with basic information about this person: Born, Nationality, Known for... ect.I do not know how this option is called and where to find it. And since English is not my native language I need to find someone to check the grammar and overall composition. Are you helping with this, like college tutors?) Thanks --Kazkarka (talk) 05:17, 19 August 2015 (UTC)
Help me
[edit]Hi my helper Please, direct me to the info on How to create a box (template, table, I don't know how it's called) with a picture and basic information about a person, like BORN, NATIONALITY, KNOWN FOR etc.
This help request has been answered. If you need more help, you can , contact the responding user(s) directly on their user talk page, or consider visiting the Teahouse. |
thanks
- Kazkarka, I believe you are talking about an infobox, such as {{infobox person}} or {{infobox company}}. The instructions for using the infoboxes can be found by clicking the blue wikilinks. If you want more help, stop by the Teahouse, Wikipedia's live help channel, or the help desk to ask someone for assistance. Primefac (talk) 18:05, 20 August 2015 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) Hi Kazkarka to add to the above answer there are many special infoboxes depending on the topic - i.e. for a person you can use {{infobox person}} but if they are a writer, sports person, musician, politician etc. you may find there is a special template that would work better. The best thing to do is look at an article for someone that is similar and look at what type of infobox they use. Hope that helps, Cheers KylieTastic (talk) 18:11, 20 August 2015 (UTC)
File permission problem with File:Olexandr Kolchenko, Ukrainian political prisoner in Russia, 2015.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Olexandr Kolchenko, Ukrainian political prisoner in Russia, 2015.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.
If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 08:32, 23 August 2015 (UTC)

DGG ( talk ) 04:45, 15 September 2015 (UTC)Deletion pending for File:Olexandr Kolchenko, Ukrainian political prisoner in Russia, 2015.jpg
[edit]Hello, Kazkarka. Some time ago, a file you uploaded — File:Olexandr Kolchenko, Ukrainian political prisoner in Russia, 2015.jpg — was tagged with {{OTRS pending}}, indicating that you (or perhaps the copyright holder if you did not create this image) submitted a statement of permission to permissions-en@wikimedia.org. Though there is often a backlog processing messages received at this address, we should have received your message by now.
- If you have not submitted (or forwarded) a statement of permission, please send it immediately to permissions-en@wikimedia.org and let us know at the OTRS noticeboard that you have done so.
- If you have already sent this message, it is possible that there was a problem receiving it. Please re-send it to permissions-en@wikimedia.org and let us know at the OTRS noticeboard that you have done so.
If we don't hear from you within one week, the file will be deleted. If we can help you, please feel free to ask at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 14:44, 9 October 2015 (UTC)

Please help me with the image I uploaded for my article Olexandr Kolchenko. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Olexandr_Kolchenko,_Ukrainian_political_prisoner_in_Russia,_2015.jpg I sent a few emails and left a massage on image's page explaining that I cannon get any permissions on that picture. The person, owner the picture is the hero of my article, Olexandr Kolchenko, he is a political prisoner and literally not capable to send me or you any document permitting the use of his image. I am trying to reach his lawyer. Let me explain again. This picture is from a public web resource, it's free to use. Olexandr himself gave this picture to his friends and organizations, supporting political prisoners, for free use. But it's hard to prove now. You can see, only my English version of articles about Olexandr has a picture. If you delete it all articles about this brave man become faceless. I am not trying to bring your tears about. Please, understand me, here is a special situation, worth of exception. Please, give me advise on what I should do. I cannot go to Russian prison with a notary seal, I cannot email Olexandr because Russain prisons have no internet. He can write his permission, but we need extra time, because Russian prisons can deprive the prisoner freedom to write. They can ban any letter. But if it happens I reach a lawyer, what kind of text do you expect to get? "I, Olexandr Kolchenko, give permission to Wikipedia member Kazkarka to use my picture in the article" data, signature? correct? Should he mention any specific acts, laws ect.? Thanks,
Kazkarka (talk) 03:55, 14 October 2015 (UTC)
- Hi. It sounds like getting in touch with his attorney will be your best (and only) way of achieving a confirmation of permission. The permission needs to agree to license the image under a free license for anyone to use, not just Wikipedia. An example of the kind of text you will need can be found at Wikipedia:Declaration of consent for all enquiries. It should be noted that the image might be deleted in the meantime if your permission-seeking takes longer than you would hope. This is not the end of the world. Once permission is provided, the image can be undeleted just as quickly and easily as it was deleted. Cheers, Nick—Contact/Contribs 04:15, 14 October 2015 (UTC)

[edit]Introduction to contentious topics
[edit]You have recently edited a page related to Eastern Europe or the Balkans, a topic designated as contentious. This standard message is designed as an introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system.
Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.
