[edit]"Removed deletion proposal as this is objectionable given the notable, topical and controversial subjects covered in the novel - reference to these issues is now added to the preview"...This is nonsense. I would not argue that the events portrayed may be notable, but there is no evidence that the novel itself is.TheLongTone (talk) 17:43, 29 August 2014 (UTC)
"Hi TheLongTone. I understand that you have a tough task weeding out the people that wish to abuse Wikipedia, and I respect your call completely if that is what your professional decision is because of that. However may I make a couple of points please? Firstly, I guess you haven't read the novel and viewed our data, as you may have noticed that we have had intense interest in it from around the world, with over 11,500 Facebook 'likes' and support from the Armenian government (I can have the ministry contact you if you would like). I guess you're probably intensely busy but if you read the novel you would see that it foretells the possibility of a ground-breaking visit by the Turkish Prime Minister to finally recognize the Armenian Genocide. I don't mind scholars such as yourself debating whether the novel is notable or not based on the possibility of it playing a small part in the political discussion that may finally bring peace between these nations after a hundred years of animosity, but please consider for just a moment what that might mean for millions of people. Please also recall that in the past any film or literary work involving the Genocide has invariably resulted in extreme adverse political reactions, death threats and even executions of authors on this subject from certain quarters, so the very suggestion of a Turkish leader apologizing is highly controversial. If that isn't notable and the fact my personal safety is on the line then I guess I'll never be able to convince until the worst happens. Finally, would you kindly please not use belittling comments as you did in responding to my earlier justification as I'm not even Armenian and just trying to do my best for a troubled part of the world. As I said I totally respect your work and the amazing effort by all administrators. Thanks for the opportunity to respond. Kiwiodysee (talk) 21:20, 29 August 2014 (UTC)
- Fair enough, but the wikipedia rules nevertheless stipulate that a work of fiction has to have generated enough coverage in independant sources to establish notability. If this happens in the case of this bookk, all well and good but without such attention it cannot be considered notable however worthy the cause.TheLongTone (talk) 22:32, 29 August 2014 (UTC)
That's cool TheLongTone, we've got to respect the rules, no argument with that. I just wanted you to understand that notability does not necessarily equal selling a large number of copies or whatever - in this case the work is notable from the beginning because it is part of the important historical political discussion that you could not be aware of unless you speak Armenian and live in Armenia (we were going to do an Armenian language page but no good now). The Wikipedia outreach would have been a small but important support to that process in a world burning with fire right now. Anyway thanks again for the discussion, and we'll sorry to distract you from your ongoing work. Kiwiodysee (talk) 03:45, 30 August 2014 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:Origins Discovery Armenian Ebook.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Origins Discovery Armenian Ebook.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.
If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
