I request a little arbitration

Hi, I'm 201.218.81.108 but I have created an account, well, since I have seen this happening several times I want you to do something for me.

In the article Copa Airlines normally, as I have seen before, two users misunderstood several users with sockpuppets since there was a vandal who uploaded bad tagged images and I have seen two cases of this happening, so, to prevent them from misunderstanding me as a vandal from just editing potentially similar, would you care on seeing if the below is true?

A transportation company, such as a shipping or airline company, that is registered in a given state. Example: "American Airlines, while a private firm, is a U.S. flag carrier."

I also saw on a spanish page that COPA is the national flag carrier of the country, Panama, and there's nothing about this on the article's page and I want to correct some information without being blocked just like the two other users, will you care, again I say, to tell them I'm not a sock puppet of that vandal and that I'm not a treat to the page just as you said?

88.233.240.204

Hello I am this user ---> 88.233.241.41 Please use simple English. I am not an American or English. I'm Turkish. I know intermediate - advanced English. And I have a account in Turkish Wikipedia. Thanks! --88.233.240.204 18:33, 22 June 2007 (UTC)

Shall I create an account? Can you help me? --88.233.240.204 18:40, 22 June 2007 (UTC)

Sorry

sorry, I wasn't meaning for being too rude but there are some admins and users that are to strict and eventually become too mischevious, I didn't meant anything bad, sorry for any problems here. 201.218.81.108 02:17, 23 June 2007 (UTC)

Blocking of 212.85.20.100

This IP address relates to St Paul's School in London (as noted at the top of the talk page), of which I am a student. As with any school, there are going to be the stupid few who vandalise Wikipedia, but surely the solution is not just to repeatedly block us - can I ask what the normal policy is with schools vandalising Wikipedia? ~ Alexlmuller 12:45, 23 June 2007 (UTC)

Cumberland and H-1B

I noticed that you ghave been involved with an editor who has pparently used several identities and IPs. I just became aware of the variety of accounts used, and wasn't sure if you were aware too. My research indicates that these users are almost certainly the same person:

It's possible that these may be that person as well:

I didn't see any specific instances of abusing sock puppets by skewing consensus, but I may have missed something. He mostly edits articles broadly related to Cumberland, Maryland and H-1B visas. ·:· Will Beback ·:· 21:47, 24 June 2007 (UTC)

Joshuastallings

I think you should consider a longer block. He vandalized a userpage twice and put offensive content. He created a bunch of bad pages. And I think he'll do more tomorrow. Cheers, JetLover 02:02, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

Now that was kinda rude! Ah well ... onwards we go - Alison 02:07, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

Ownershp of IP Address

Let me get this straight - I own this IP address, or at least I rent it. Its a private residence. VanTucky decides to paste a bunch of glop here, I don't want to see it, and you're DEFENDING his right to do that? I've contributed over 1000 positive edits to Wikipedia and I don't need to be preached to. I'll log in using my main address from now on, but really, you don't like it when I put crap on your talk page, and you reverted it, so why don't I have the right to do the same? 24.15.208.65 02:46, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

  • Maybe so. But not on Wikipedia. It's a private website. IP addresses and associated talk pages are assumed to belong to shared IPs (as most are). You might maybe think of using your main account to alleviate the problem? Cut your losses, etc? Please do assume some good faith on behalf of your fellow-editors, though. We're all just here to help the project - Alison 02:59, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

74.114.254.115

You blocked 74.114.254.115 (talk) last week for 48 hours. They have since returned and are continuing to make similar edits, mainly deleting songs from track listings on albums. Since I have been involved with reverting and warning the user, I'm not sure if it is appropriate for me to block them as well. Because their edits are less frequent, and I am not catching them in the act, it doesn't make sense to take it to WP:AIV.

Any coaching you'd like to give me on this case would be appreciated. ~ BigrTex 15:28, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

Yes I was trying to update the article, perhaps I should have notified you afterwards. I'm trying to merge the article with the original Generation Y article. Sorry for the confusion, but I feel that this update is necessary, talk to me if you want to discuss it further. Thanks Rumble 74 26 June 2007.

Thanks for the feedback, I added an edit summary explanation for the edit, I'll also try to get a link up to re-direct the page to the original article. Rumble 74 26 June 2007.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Rumble74 (talkcontribs)

Recently, you have blocked a computer from editing due to vandalism. The computer you have blocked was in a school in London and it affects every computer in it. Also, although I don't want it to become an issue on general "talk" pages, my politics are probably more in line with yours than with those who want to delete the "State terrorism" article (although I'll admit to being a hard one to figure out as my positions do not tie closely to any party, including the non-dominant parties). For example, I assume we both agree on who is the worst president in US history. On the other hand, I get the impression that you're more of a "liberal arts" kind of guy/gal, where as I'm more of a "technical" or "hard sciences" kind of guy. In that vain, you'll find me arguing to support smaller points on their technical merits even when I don't agree with the bigger picture that someone else is trying to paint with them (if that makes sense). Deletion of GNS

Hey I was wondering why my page was deleted? The title was GNS. I copied the source code into a text file so it's ok, I just want to make sure it wont be deleted again. Whoever deleted it said it was a hoax, NOT true, GNS even has a website. www.team-gns.net, although the information on the website is vague, what I have in this article is true and from many sources, personal and media.

I am going to put it back up, please let me know what I can do to make sure it doesn't get taken down again for such reasons. I thank you so much. - Jon — Preceding unsigned comment added by JonVega7 (talkcontribs)

Relating to the Triism article

Hi. This is Leninist. You have been monitoring my article 'Triism' for a few days, and I would say that you have been very helpful in helping me learn how to correctly not only write but also correctly edit an article. Concerning the article of Triism, the reference of the "Explanation of Triism" is a pamphlet that was printed which briefly explained the concept. However, I do see your point about verifiability. It was very localized, and I assume you are right in posing such a question. That said, i am not entirely sure of how to thus cite so that it can be accessed easily by all. In that you can see my dilemma. I hope that this complication does not cause the entire article to be refuted and deleted. --Leninist 09:07, 1 July 2007 (UTC)

References

References should either be proper references, listing title, author, date, etc., or inline references. Putting "ref" "/ref" around inline citations gives you the worst of both worlds; it does not provide you with any more information than the inline citation, but forces you to click once, then reposition, then click again, to get anywhere useful. Either create proper citations, or leave the inline citations alone, please. Jayjg (talk) 00:14, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

There is absolutely nothing wrong with inline citations. "ref"-style citations are better, but only if they're created properly. I've given you a couple of examples of how to do it. Only convert inline citations to refs if you're going to do it properly. Thanks. Jayjg (talk) 00:20, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for your notes. Wikipedia:Citing sources#Inline citations should be helpful. Jayjg (talk) 20:43, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

Exactly which article are you referring to? SkagitRiverQueen 22:08, 6 July 2007 (UTC)— Preceding unsigned comment added by Kelly A. Siebecke (talkcontribs)

The article to which I refer is User:SkagitRiverQueen. If you would like to open that account up as your sockpuppet, this can be done, but you will have to log off first and create the new account. If your intention is to create a signature with this name, which appears more likely, this is not the appropriate manner to do it. --Kukini hablame aqui 22:12, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

First of all, I have no intention of creating a sockpuppet, Secondly, several months ago I went (with pure intentiions) to the "My Preferences" area of my Wiki account to see what was there. I changed my raw signature to SkagitRiverQueen. Logically, it stands to reason that if this was something WP frowned upon that it would not be an option. Considering that, why is it a problem for you and Keith Tyler? I not only resent the suggestion that I am trying to do something snarky here, frankly, it's insulting. I'm sure that there are a good number of WP abusers, but I am not one of them. You want to get rid of the user page I created today, fine. I couldn't care less. But, really, this whole thing seems to be turning into more of a personal thing for you rather than a WP administrator exercising his duties properly and maturely (and after viewing some of the other comments on your talk page, I don't think I'm the only one with this perception).

Seriously, don't you have more important things to do than pick on a middle-aged woman for using a particular signature and cleaning up her user-talk page? SkagitRiverQueen 22:34, 6 July 2007 (UTC)— Preceding unsigned comment added by Kelly A. Siebecke (talkcontribs)

Yeah, I pointed her to Wikipedia:Username change as an alternate suggestion, and haven't heard back yet. I have a hard time believing that s/he thinks that one's username changes based on what you type in the sig field. I think Kelly is just WP:POINTing. Of all my days in WP:AMA I never saw anyone wikilawyer as bad as Kelly has been. - Keith D. Tyler 22:10, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
Guess what Keith? Unless you've become a WP administrator within the last few hours, you're not going to hear back from me on it. Oh, and BTW - that's Ms. Siebecke to you. SkagitRiverQueen 22:44, 6 July 2007 (UTC)— Preceding unsigned comment added by Kelly A. Siebecke (talkcontribs)
Kelly A. Siebecke, I am an administrator, thus I am confused by your most recent comment. Please feel invited to check here: Wikipedia:List of administrators. Best, Kukini hablame aqui 22:47, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

"Kelly (SkagitRiverQueen), you seem to not understand...you did change your signature, but you did not do it correctly. We are concerned because it will make it very difficult for newer users (and all other users) to respond to you. Unlike when you respond to us, we cannot click on your signature as you have it to get to your page. Also, when you created a userpage for User:SkagitRiverQueen, you did this in error. I strongly suggest that you consider adjusting your signature, or asking for a name change to User:SkagitRiverQueen. What might happen if you do not, is some other user might request that username, leaving you unable to sign with it anymore." Best, Kukini hablame aqui 22:42, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

Now, tell me - wasn't giving me a chance to explain myself and responding with a reasonable tone and explanation easier and better than accusing me of something I wouldn't have even considered doing? Thanks for the assistance. SkagitRiverQueen 22:58, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
I'm quite aware you are an administrator, Kukini. If you re-read what I wrote above, you'll see that my response was directed at Keith and his comments about me. SkagitRiverQueen 22:58, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

Question

Why did you welcome a vandal? Oysterguitarist 06:34, 20 July 2007 (UTC)

I was actually writing to you about that right now, my reasons: Because I have dealt with editors before who upload images to vandalize and I feel it is better to report them to AIV and not make contact with them because they usually just harass the users trying to deal with them. I was reviewing there edits to make sure they were gone before notifying AIV about the user and noticed you had welcomed them. Oysterguitarist 06:56, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
I know most admins would not block without working with editors first, it's just that I prefer admins are notified in these types of cases because they have rollback buttons and are able to deal with vandalism faster than a person using an undo button, cause all the vandal has to do is paste the image in the artical and go on vandalising. Cheers Oysterguitarist 07:07, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
Khukini: "Understood. And I see that you do use the warning system with some editors. Thanks for your work here and for what you do to add to the community." with some editors? I am confused, I rarly never use a template for warning editors.Oysterguitarist 07:20, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
The template I used for them was {{uw-delete1}}. Oysterguitarist 18:01, 20 July 2007 (UTC)

I was reading threw your comments and you said that the welcoming of that user should not be challenged, I just want to say that I was not challenging you I was just wondering if you knew if he was a vandal and you did 'a vandal welcome' like they did. You probably hate me by now but I want you to know that I am truly sorry for this. Oysterguitarist 02:44, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

Re: Deletion of Dryve article

For whatever reason, it was resurrected again for debate and deleted.

Could you be of help in reversing the deletion? I was a founding member of the band and I can fully verify any and all of the information in the article. I firmly believe it meets the requirements laid out in WP:MUSIC.

Thank you and please contact me if you need any more information.
