You've been adding dates of birth to several biographies along with social media websites as External links; for example: 1 and 2. This message is to make you aware of the strict requirements of WP:BLP: neutral point of view, verifiability, and no original research. As BLPs:  "any material challenged or likely to be challenged must be supported by an inline citation to a reliable, published source."
WP:DOB:  "Wikipedia includes full names and dates of birth that have been widely published by reliable sources, or by sources linked to the subject such that it may reasonably be inferred that the subject does not object to the details being made public."
To learn what is considered a reliable source, see WP:SOURCE.
Regarding social media websites as links, see WP:UGC and WP:LINKSTOAVOID — if an individual has an "official website" it is an acceptable link, see WP:ELOFFICIAL and WP:ELMIN.
There are editors that add improper content in biographies and edits that violate WP:BLP are often not caught right away. However, please be aware that the policy for biographies is precise and rigorously enforced. Pyxis Solitary (yak). L not Q. 11:28, 16 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, Pyxis Solitary, for this information! I hadn't seen the section about social media pages for external links before. I had been using other wikipedia pages as examples. I'm sure you can tell that I'm a new user and still learning the ropes.
I have a question about DOB. If the person's birthday is listed on multiple questionable websites but confirmed by the person themself on their social media, would it be acceptable to publish that DOB? Are there any websites that you recommend for finding DOB?
As a new user, I'm struggling to find how I can help the Wikipedia community without screwing up a page. Can you recommend how to get my feet wet?
Again, thank you for pointing out my errors. In the future if I'm unsure about something, can I reach out to you for help? LaurBright (talk) 13:53, 17 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia guidelines are tucked away here and there, and not always immediately findable. You'd think that Wikipedia would make them easy to find by simply searching for them within the cyclopedia, but of course not. Many times I have to do a Google search of "Wikipedia+[fill in the blank]" to locate what I'm looking for.
Many Wikipedia articles are edited by people who don't know what Wikipedia's policies are, or simply ignore them. And the total of biographies is extensive. But when a biography becomes monitored, the junk, gossip, and violations are deleted. When it comes to personal information about an individual, you find this is WP:BLP:
— "If you see personal information such as phone numbers, addresses, account numbers, etc. in a BLP or anywhere on Wikipedia, edit the page to remove it and contact the oversight team so that they can evaluate it and possibly remove it from the page history. To reduce the chances of triggering the Streisand effect, use a bland/generic edit summary and do not mention that you will be requesting Oversight."
About DOB: if the person has specifically stated their birth date on their own personal social media account, then citing their message in the social network as a source is acceptable because it is linked directly to them and they control the information published in it. If a person does an interview with a legitimate publication (newspaper, magazine, an established website) and the interview publishes the DOB, then the interview can be cited as the source (but if the DOB is taken down from the interview, Wikipedia has to abide by the removal). You should familiarize yourself with what are considered perennial sources.
Finding a person's DOB comes from reliable published sources or the persons themselves. It cannot be taken from public records (see WP:BLPPRIMARY). Digging for DOBs is ultimately a fruitless effort when the source is unacceptable.
Everything I've learned about editing Wikipedia has been learned as I go along. But if while playing in this kitty sandbox you need help with anything, don't hesitate to ask me. Ciao! Pyxis Solitary (yak). L not Q. 07:52, 18 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
