Speedy deletion nomination of Brett Behm
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Brett Behm requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. smileguy91talk 23:29, 30 December 2014 (UTC)

Speedy Deletions
[edit]Hi Littlecop81, I see that you have twice now created an article on Brett Behm and had it speedily deleted - if you're curious why or want to avoid having your article deleted in the future, please check out this guide to creating your first wikipedia article. Please note in particular that your article will need reliable references and to demonstrate that its subject meets wikipedia's notability requirements to avoid being deleted in the future. Rather than creating and then improving the article later, it is better to draft the article fully in your user sandbox first. Fyddlestix (talk) 04:53, 31 December 2014 (UTC)
- sorry I was editing it and I accidently hit save instead of show preview Littlecop81 (talk) 05:10, 31 December 2014 (UTC)
- That's okay! That is a good reason to prepare the article in your sandbox before creating the article though - doing so prevents these kinds of mistakes and ensures that the article doesn't get deleted before you can complete it. Fyddlestix (talk) 05:24, 31 December 2014 (UTC)
- Is there anyway I could put it to private until it is finished?Littlecop81 (talk) 05:30, 31 December 2014 (UTC)
- I don't know of any way to make it private - but if you first drafted the article in your sandbox or on a subsection of your user page then it would not be vulnerable to deletion. You could take all the time you like to finish it there, and then copy-paste it over to a new wiki article. Fyddlestix (talk) 06:04, 31 December 2014 (UTC)
- ok, thank you Littlecop81 (talk) 06:28, 31 December 2014 (UTC)
- The Wikipedia page is not allowing me to post the Brett Behm page because it was deleted is there anyway you could help me with thisLittlecop81 (talk) 01:41, 2 January 2015 (UTC)

[edit]Hello, I'm Trut-h-urts man. I noticed that you recently removed some content from Arnold León without explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; I have restored the removed content. Brett Behm
[edit]The thing you need to understand is that Wikipedia is not a place where anybody is automatically entitled to have an article just because they exist — rather, we have defined criteria in place to determine who is eligible for an article and who is not. Nothing in Draft:Brett Behm indicates any reason why he would get an automatic inclusion pass under our notability standards for curlers, so the only thing left is to look at the scope and depth of the media coverage that exists — and if you're shooting for "notable because look at all this media coverage" for a person who hasn't satisfied a specific inclusion criterion yet, then that media coverage does have to spread out far beyond the subject's own hometown before it constitutes enough media coverage to satisfy WP:GNG.
Generally, for a person to be eligible for an article on here, you need to be able to demonstrate a credible reason why people far beyond the subject's own hometown would already be expecting an article on here. In hockey, for example, NHL players are always eligible for articles, because they're already internationally famous — but players in the lower-level Western Hockey League are not automatically eligible for articles just because they exist, because they haven't yet reached the level where they'd be expected to be well-known outside their own home market. In politics, federal Members of Parliament and provincial MLAs are eligible for articles, because they're prominent enough that there's a high degree of public interest in them — but city councillors aren't eligible for articles except in some exceedingly rare "special case" circumstances, because they're not well-known outside their own city. And on and so forth — what we're looking for is evidence of nationalized notability, not just local hero status.
So the fact that he's not getting covered outside of Moose Jaw yet (except for a tiny smattering in Prince Albert) is, in and of itself, a reason why he's not eligible for an article at the present time. If and when he competes at a level that would actually satisfy NCURL, then things will be different — but until he reaches that point, media coverage that's exclusively local to his own hometown isn't enough regardless of how much of it there is. Bearcat (talk) 22:24, 6 January 2016 (UTC)
- Would you considering youth Olympic trial as a Olympic thing? He did participate in a trial for that
- Competing in an Olympic trial, no. If he passed the qualification round and actually made it to the team, then yes. Bearcat (talk) 22:48, 6 January 2016 (UTC)
- So the Canada games national wouldn't automatically be enough to qualify, but a junior be eligible then? Or even U18? I know it's says that junior are eligible on the NCURL but just clarifying
- Please post followup comments to the bottom of this discussion, not the top. At any rate, the Canada Games aren't on the list of what passes WP:NCURL at all (it's an event where medalling would be good enough, but the mere fact of being in the competition doesn't get a person over the bar if they finished out of the medal standings. The Olympics are the only event of that type where a person automatically gets to have an article just for the fact of being there at all — for things like the PanAms or the Commonwealths or the Canada Games, it takes actually winning a medal.) The Canadian Junior Curling Championships would count, but as written the article isn't suggesting that he's played at that level yet — if he actually has, then you need to make that fact clearer. Bearcat (talk) 23:09, 6 January 2016 (UTC)
- Ok well thank you for this help, sorry I haven't posted at the bottom, I'm not at home and using the phone so I can not see the bottom when I type. I will be sure to ask any other questions if needed as you have been very helpful
