Day-of-year articles

[edit]

Hi, just so you're aware, day-of-year articles (such as October 12) must have an inline citation included with any new entries. Thanks! Schazjmd (talk) 18:03, 5 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks----Muhammad Nabil (☎talk) 18:09, 5 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I should have also mentioned this is a recent requirement, to enforce verifiability on those articles. There is a group of editors who are going through the existing articles to add citations (lots of progress on January 1) and to remove any entries that can't be sourced. Help sourcing existing entries is very welcome. Schazjmd (talk) 18:29, 5 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:People from Juri Upazila requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Ways to improve Sirajul Islam Sarder

[edit]

Hello, Nabil,

Thank you for creating Sirajul Islam Sarder.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

This article only cites the parliament's documents as sources. Please consider adding third-party sources.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|MrClog}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Hi, @MrClog:, Thanks for giving me a message. I have added third-party sources to the Sirajul Islam Sarder page. The tags can be removed by you or another editor once. thanks. --Muhammad NabilChat 01:57, 3 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Short descriptions

[edit]

You have been adding the short description "Canadian news websites" to a range of articles. This is unhelpful, because WP:SHORTDES says "The short description should focus on distinguishing the subject from ones with similar titles rather than precisely defining it." In other words, it doesn't make sense for multiple articles to have exactly the same short description. Please don't do this, short descriptions are not categories.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 07:05, 5 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Badiuzzaman Tunu has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The subject is not notable for WP entry as sources cited in this article only show trivial mention of the subject.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Ugbedeg (talk) 08:10, 22 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Rokanuddaula Mandal has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Overlinking and overcapitalising

[edit]

Hi, thanks for your work. Please note that common terms are not generally linked on en.WP; and we minimise capping, unless an item really is a title or proper name. Tony (talk) 06:46, 17 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Copy pasting each article

[edit]

Hi there,

It seems that you have been copy and pasting multiple articles about the Bangladesh Nationalist Party from one single template. Specifically:

all have the same errors. For example, constituency was spelt as onstituency and the lead was not correct (The Wikipedia Manual of Style says to have wiki articles started as (Name) is/was a (nationality) (thing they are notable for)) in each of the ones, making the exact same mistakes.

Furthermore, it doesn't seem like the majority of these people fulfill WP:NOTABLE, by not having any coverage other then the official election results page. I suggest you read up on some Wikipedia articles and submit some of those articles to the Article for Creations WikiProject so that you can better understand how Wikipedia's policies work. For now, I'll be tagging most of these with a request for deletion due to them not fulfilling the requirements.

Feel free to send me a message on my if you need any further help! Sixula (talk) 21:39, 28 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Please do note that all 5 I referred to above and Ali Hossain Mia, Mollah Maqbool Hossain, and Abul Basar Sikder have been tagged for speedy deletion. I didn't add all of them to the talk page to not bombard you.Sixula (talk) 21:45, 28 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nabil, please don't revert the speedy deletion tags. If you believe them unfair, feel free to contest them. Sixula (talk) 21:49, 28 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Nabil: look. You are not permitted to remove speedy deletion tags even if you don't like them or completely disagree with them. I will be reverting your changes removing the CSD tags. If you revert back, I'll unfortunately have to bring you to WP:ANI.Sixula (talk) 21:57, 28 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Nabil: I've been informed by a highly experienced edit that the articles aren't valid for CSD and thereby apologize for editing them. Still, you should have gone through the proper channels to answer them and explain your reason for disapproval, because the admins would've sided with you.

Furthermore, I still would like to remind you that copy pasting from a template isn't recommended (I'm not sure if it's begrudgingly permitted) and that you should stop that. You should attempt to use the AFC article review process. Sixula (talk) 23:02, 28 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

An article you recently created, Md Habib Ullah, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.
