Patronus

Hey... I was wondering. In Spells in Harry Potter You said that Lupin's Patronus was a moon... do you have a source for that? I don't think that's true... but I could be wrong. Thanks! Gscshoyru 16:19, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

You're right, I just looked it up in the Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, and it does not mention anything about the shape of Lupin's Patronous, but it also doesn't say anything about patronuses always being animals. Malinaccier 16:32, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
True... but I think it's assumed, and it should stay as animals. Hermionie's is an Otter, for instance (book 5). Note that Prongs didn't necessarily have a stag as a patronus... he just was a stag animagi. Same with the rest of them. Gscshoyru 16:36, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
The only thing that discredits the 'animal' patronous is the fact that Nymphadora Tonks' patronous changed into a werewolf (Lupin), and depending on your point of view (whether 'half breeds' are human or not, and whether werewolves should have equal rights with humans), Tonks' patonous was either human or beast. . . . Malinaccier 16:42, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
Um... werewolf in werewolf form, right? Um... I have no clue how that's considered. Gscshoyru 16:45, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
We could just say: an object important to the caster. This includes animals, as well as anything else that could be considered non-animal. Malinaccier 16:48, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
Yeah... do that. Makes the most sense, I guess. Gscshoyru 16:51, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
The debate seems to have ended, but may offer my two cents? (And thanks for the barn-star, Malinaccier!) It is never explicitly stated that Tonk's patronus was a werewolf, was it? It is only inferred by the reader - the same way the editors of the Deathly Hallows page will not say if anyone is married in the epilogue. Tried to say it without spoiling if you haven't finished yet! ~~ THE DARK LORD TROMBONATOR (((¶))) 08:04, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

Improper High Level notices

I notice you have been placing high level warning templates on user talk pages for varying degrees of vandalism. Please do not bite the newcomers, and instead post lower level templates for each incident unless the vandalism is unusually malicious. Some of the edits for which you have warned users for may not have been vandalism at all, such as this edit by Sukkomen, where he is describing the attributes of a fictional character. Be aware that such harsh warnings are counterproductive, and damaging to the image of Wikipedia if they are driving good-faith users away. Also, you haven't actually reverted the edits of several users which you cited for vandalism, so please be sure to do so. Finally, sign any talk page notice with four tildes ~~~~ so we can see when they were last warned. Thanks. --Tom (talk - email) 19:01, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

The only-warning template is typically too harsh; instead, {{subst:test1}} (the standard first-level warning template) should be used most often, followed by test2, test3, and test4. --Tom (talk - email) 19:15, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

Vandalism

Report the vandal at WP:AIV. However, by looking at the history of the article, I'm guessing the vandal(s?) are using sockpuppets. You may have to ask for the page to be semi-protected (see Wikipedia:Protection policy). Hope that helps! --M1ss1ontomars2k4 02:03, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

Muggle Repelling Charm

Under R or M? There is a tag saying not to move, I don't know who put it there or why - thought it might have been you Malinaccier, in your large "DO NOT EDIT TILL YOU HAVE READ HP7" spree? Or was it an IP? I tried to check the history but it was too far back and I couldn't locate the culprit. Reply to Spells in Harry Potter, please, to keep all related discussion together. ~~ THE DARK LORD TROMBONATOR (((¶))) 07:54, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

Thank you

Thank you for your support at my recent Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Angus Lepper RfA, which failed, with no consensus to promote me. However, I appreciate the concerns raised during the course of the discussion (most notably, a lack of experience, particularly in admin-heavy areas such as XfDs and policy discussions) and will attempt to address these before possibly standing again in several months time. 3RR

Yeah, my reverts are almost exclusively for vandalism. I'll be more careful with my edit summaries in the future. GlassCobra 00:53, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
