From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A tag has been placed on Abu Obaida al-jarrah requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Eeekster (talk) 02:57, 30 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Abu Ubaidah ibn al-Jarrah

[edit]

asalamualikum....

your recent edits to the article Abu Ubaidah ibn al-Jarrah seem to be in total contradiction with the wikipedia standards of an article as, by mentioning name of villages and regions and family it make article alot "personalized" which is against encyclopediaic standards. you have been reverting my edits with out discussing the issues on talk page, though i was ignoring it but this stubborn behavior is truly unacceptable here. As per The Three revert rule of wikipedia, if you reverted my edits again, you will be blocked from editing wikipedia. So i find it better to discuss the matter, if any, to discuss on article's talk page rather then indulging in a pointless edit war.

regards.

dear sir you ignore and said that al-jarrah family in jordan and syria claim the relation to abu ubaida while these family have papers from umaya and abbas and ottman empires to prove that so from where u got ur information and make ur disision while u can not speak arabic salam

Walikumsalam, bro its not about "speaking" arabic or not .... its about history and when u write history on an encyclopedia, then u have to follow some rules and regulations. for every ambiguous statement u have to give a reference from some "thrid party source" other wise the fact will always be mentioned as "they claim to be so etc etc" and more over its is very much appropriate to just write that some clans from "jordon and lebanon" claim their decendent from abu ubaidah. while classic history tells us they abu ubaidah left no male heir.

People around the world claims such thing, e.g the pushtuns tribes in pakistan and afghanistan claim their decendent from khalid ibn walid, while classic history tells us that khalid ibn walid's male line of decendents ended on his grandson khalid ibn abdulrehman ibn khalid ibn walid. Some people here in northern pakistan even claim their decendent from alexander the great ! but as classic history tells us that alexander had only one son who was killed when 13 years old. I dont mean to hurt any perticular groups's sentiments but its encyclopedia and its language must be like encyclopedia mentioning the names of villages and families isnt an encyclopediac style.

Regards and eid mubarak. الله أكبرMohammad Adil 05:57, 21 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

listen up man i dont care whether u r from abu ubaidah's family or not, i am not concerned with it, wht i care for is the quality of the article and the language u r using there is not suitable for an encyclopedia try to under stand if u cant understand then u r not liable for editing on wikipedia. Here no matter wht ever document u have to claim ur decendent from any one, the encyclopedia language tht is used for this type of stuff id always "claim to be decendents of ------" did u get it ?

i have a friend who is syed, now if i will write an article on him i will in the encyclopedian language will says " he claims to be direct decendent of Prophet" ... its not about the facts its actually about the language. regadrs

Editing

[edit]

You seem to be getting off on the wrong foot. First when you make a comment on a talk page please sign it using four ~~~~ it makes things easier to read. As pointed out above please don't attack other editors or you will be blocked. If you are going to put material into articles such as this then it requires a source. The source does not have to be in English but that is preferred as this is the English language Wikipedia. Please see Wikipedia:Verifiability for more information on what is acceptable as a source. Lastly please don't Wikipedia:Edit War especially by doing this sort of thing repeatedly. If people revert you additions and then try to give you good advice you should then go to the talk page of the article and discuss what you want to add. Enter CambridgeBayWeather, waits for audience applause, not a sausage 17:44, 24 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This is your last warning. You will be blocked from editing the next time you make a personal attack, as you did with this edit to User talk:Favonian. Doniago (talk) 02:31, 25 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
