Bramante Staircase

Hi, I have previously edited the article about the Bramante staircase to reflect the fact that the original staircase does not seem to be a double helix version. If you have a look at any picture of the old staircase there is nothing to suggest it is in fact double helix, however there are articles on the internet suggesting it is, such as the blog entry from insight vacations referenced in the wiki. Even in the picture from this blog it looks like a spiral staircase without double helix. Instead of editing the article I would just like to ask if you have more insight in this. Hello Erik:

In answer to your question, I was guided by the previous draft of the article which said the Momo staircase was inspired by the original (and was named the Bramante stair for that reason), and from what it said on the Insight website; also that it was said to have inspired other, double helix stairs (like this one).

Whatever it might look like, the sources used are pretty categorical about it, and (as they are charging good money from people to see it) they could hardly do so for long if it wasn't, could they?

Anyway, if you have something to the contrary, (a source saying it isn't so, for example, to avoid Original Research territory, open a discussion on the page, and we can see what anyone else thinks. Happy editing, Moonraker12 (talk) 19:23, 10 September 2015 (UTC)

Wilseder Berg and Good King George

Hi Moonraker, your edits were clearly in good faith and I was happy with most of them, but I just felt the construct "George IV of the United Kingdom" sounded very odd. I know it's the title of the article, but Wiki articles sometimes have odd titles for the sake of disambiguation. He would normally be called just "George IV" or "King George (IV)" if it were clear that we were in Britain, but we're not, so some sort of dab is needed and the most common by far is "of England" - about ten times more common that "of the United Kingdom" or "of Great Britain" on Google books. So if WP:COMMONNAME is the criterion it's the clear choice. But, as you say, there were no other King George IVs, so we could just go with that. HTH. House of Ibelin

Hi Moonraker! Yeah, after I changed it, I realized it was a disambiguation for a similar sounding word, instead of the modern name of Ibelin. But I forgot to change it back...

Thank you for your note and I hope that you are feeling better. I am a fan of both photographers and am not bothered by any interlinking, I was just curious. I am one of those chatty editors. The Blossfeldt article gets a fair amount of stupid vandalism so I watch it. I suspect that he is mentioned in some 7th grade text book somewhere that leads 13 year old boys to it. I went back and looked at Blossfeldt's history and was surprised to see just how much reverting there was. I went back to the oldest history and once the reverting starts it seems to be pretty constant. So anyway that's what you innocently walked into and why it might seem that I jumped all over you. French railway station names

Hi Moonraker, I have noticed changes in station names and your comments regarding the article moved. I have noticed two users user:MZ361 and another I'm struggling to find the username again, have moved every Ile-de-France rail station article to names that respect no naming convention. For the past ten years all stations in France have used their French names eg: Gare de Trouville-Deauville but they have been moved using a naming convention that isn't even used in English. On English Wikipedia for English language name the suffix 'railway station' is used but the renaming uses the suffix 'Station' and with a capitalised 'S'. Some stations can't be moved back due to the unique way Wikipedia works. I'd like to put the word out to revert it all and repair what has been damaged. Would you like to help? Wars of the Roses

I was going pose this at Wars of the Roses page, but saw you saying (in 2014) you would post an edit note; I don’t know what that is (and I can’t find one); so I’m here.

The name “Wars of the Roses” is very colourful, and is an important part of this topic.

I’d like to see a paragraph that says what it was called prior to becoming “WotR”. And in c1465, c1500, c1600. The archives (#39) talks about “Cousins’ War”: and this appears on history.com. Ref [7] says During Shakespeare's time people used the term Civil Wars: cf. e.g., the title of Samuel Daniel's work, the First Four Books.

And maybe a sentence on whether the name change was due to Walter Scott (or not).

PS. I had the quiz question (in iPhone game TriviaCrack) Who won the Wars of the Roses, and the answer cited was “Lancashire”. (Other options: Yorkshire, Sussex)!

I see you've falsely accused me of passing off other editors' work as my own. My split of material from stampede to crowd crush conformed with the attribution requirements given on WP:PROSPLIT: To conform with Wikipedia's licensing requirements, which require that all content contributors receive attribution, the page receiving the split material must have an edit summary noting "split content from article name". (Do not omit this step or omit the page name.) A note should also be made in the edit summary of the source article, "split content to article name". You will note both from this excerpt and from WP:CWW that attribution on the talk page is not required. My edit summary for the crowd crush article is as follows:
