Hi NawlinWiki,

please explain me the reasons for deleating DJTUNES Page from wikipedia. Thank you in advance! Regards

i am unsure of what privileges the title of administrator provides, but whether you are aware or not i am new to membership and contribution to wikipedia. constructive criticism would be much more effective than the 'speedy deletion' i encountered how discouraging that i contribute to a such a great source of knowledge only to be rebuked not only with the article i wrote, but insulted with an impersonal message about so called abuse upon members. i expect you will laugh about me amongst the elite few as a NooB, forever disheartened by this robotic warning of abuse; im sure i will not be contributing to the so called free encyclopedia restricted by what seems to me petty squabbling over the validity of entries, by your user page alone i see i am not the first to be discouraged..

Hi NawlinWiki

Can you reassess your decision to delete the John Honney page please? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Chappers1873 (talkcontribs) 15:52, 2 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • No, it's a shout-out page about a nonnotable person, with content like "John is renowned for his bonhomie, joie-de-vivre and excellent Scouse accent." If we allowed pages like that, even for a short while, they would overwhelm the encyclopedia. Please see WP:BIO, WP:V, and WP:NOT. NawlinWiki (talk) 16:33, 2 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy Deletions[edit]

Why where these pages deleted? I simply wanted to ensure that the article List_of_ERP_software_packages included Clear Enterprise as it is otherwise an incomplete list and bias towards those already listed. In order to have a fair and unbias List_of_ERP_software_packages I should be able to submit a page on the product and company of any competing ERP software package not already listed and link it on the List_of_ERP_software_packages.

Please explain why there is a bias slant on non-listed software packages getting listed in the same way as those already listed?

My intention is to offer users to wikipedia more comprehensive information on ERP software packages and vendors by adding some not already listed. By deleting these pages you have acted to rob genuine users who want comprehensive information from the chance to view it. Some Encyclopedia! --Aj robo (talk) 04:45, 19 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Eriksen Translations Inc. Page[edit]

Hi NawlinWiki,

Can you please reassess your decision to delete this page. I am in the process of creating the page so have not yet had the opportunity to include all the information/links as to why the company is notable. This is one of the oldest privately-held multiple language translation companies in the country, is considered a notable milestone in the Norwegian-American community and has been recognized by organizations like Inc. magazine, the Women Presidents Organization and the Ford Foundation for its business practices and achievements. I was actually creating the page on one of my subpages, but wanted to see if the logo would appear properly. If you need me to wait until I have everything completed before you reinstate it, I can alert you to my user subpage later today. Thanks for your consideration.--FatWolf (talk) 18:19, 3 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • It would be better if you finished your work in your userspace, making sure to add reliable sources that show the company's notability per WP:CORP. Let me know if you'd like me to look at it later. NawlinWiki (talk) 18:22, 3 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for reading keep well AJ BRILL.

Hello Nawlin,

The page about Stantum has been deleted (I don't know what its content was) late july. I am working for this company and would like to create it again. Since I can't access to the deleted content, could you give me more input about why the notability wasn't proved enough to keep it?

Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by MultitouchGuy (talkcontribs) 18:38, 4 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • The article that was deleted in July was two sentences long and basically said, "This is a company located in ____ that makes ____." It cited only to the company's website. Any reposted article should show, by citing reliable independent sources per WP:V, that the company meets the notability standards of WP:CORP. Also, given that you're working for the company, please read WP:COI. NawlinWiki (talk) 23:14, 4 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There's also this IP, which followed through and placed the {{pp-move}} template on every page that SGF vandalized. I've never really been sure whether SGF's IP's can be blocked or not, given that he seems to use shared ones ... but these edits happened at 8 am in the morning, so I'm guessing it's probably his house, and not likely a shared IP. -- Soap Talk/Contributions 13:21, 8 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Note that most edits since May 2009 from the range 65.92.124.* in general are also SGF, but not all of them, so I wouldn't be sure about recommending a rangeblock (I think that there was a rangeblock at one time, but it was allowed to expire in the hopes that SGF would get bored, which obviously hasnt happened). -- Soap Talk/Contributions 13:40, 8 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

TaskConnect[edit]

I agree that my TaskConnect page (speedily deleted on 29 October 2009) was not written as encyclopedia article and I apologize for publishing it. The article was my first on wikipedia and I was not aware of some rules ...

Is there a way to create such article and mark it as "stub" or "proof of concept" or something like that? Or should I prepare the content somewhere else and post it to wikipedia when I consider it complete and right according to the rules?

If I understand everything correctly, there is no need to "reserve" the name of the article because when someone else writes something bad (I mean something which is not true) about our product or company, it will definitely break some rules and therefore I can make a complaint about it.

Last thing - can you please send me the text of the deleted article or paste it to my talk page? The deletion was very fast and because I have written the text as proof of concept, I have no backup of it.

Please answer on my talk page or here in this section, thanks. Jakub Marsik (talk) 21:57, 9 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • You can create a draft article in your userspace, say, at User:Jmarsik/TaskConnect. I will move the last article that you posted to that title. I will caution you that in addition to being promotional, the last version did not show how this software was notable per WP:N, and didn't cite any sources to show its notability per WP:V; given that the software is not yet publicly available, I'm not sure that you could meet those standards at this time. And you are correct, you don't have to "reserve" Wikipedia titles. NawlinWiki (talk) 22:14, 9 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • You are really fast, that's something I really appreciate! :) Thanks for recovering the text. And you are right, I'm not able to create standards-conforming version of the text at this time, because the product is not yet publicly available. I will wait until there will be some sources available to cite. Jakub Marsik (talk) 22:33, 9 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Cortney Tidwell[edit]

Dear NawlinWiki. You have deleted Cortney Tidwell page too many times to count. Last reason was for ADVERTISING or something like that. I don't understand this at all. I could care less about Cortney Tidwell's commercial success. I just want to add a notable musician to Wikipedia. I would tremendously appreciate if you could help me out. I am a wiki beginner. If there is any rewording that needs to be done to the article I'd understand that. I find artists on my favorite radio station and Wikipedia them. She is not in Wikipedia. Hi Nawlin,

I had just created an article about a band called The Jolts, which was speedily deleted. I've since read through several of the guidelines and have come to the conclusion that the article, as written, may have not demonstrated that the band meets the criteria of notability. The band in question meets one or more of the criteria (such as #4 and 12), but I'm not sure as to how to work such information into the article. Could you, or another admin, give me a hand in correcting the article? Note that any similarities between the band's name and my own username are entirely coincidental (I'm not a member of the band). Dad's Army Appreciation Society[edit]

I did move this into the article incubator, but it seems to have risen Phoenix-like at its original location. How best to sort this? Mjroots (talk) 21:26, 18 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • I put a prod tag on it. NawlinWiki (talk) 21:27, 18 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
    • Hmm, it's a new editor who created it. I'm minded to copy over the article, delete the redirect and salt it to prevent recreation until it's ready and drop a note on the editor's talk page. Article is an improvement on the original :) Mjroots (talk) 21:30, 18 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Help with speedy criterea[edit]

Hi, I know you do CSD quite a bit so was wondering if you could help me out with one of the criterea so I don't end up having speedys declined. It concerns the criterea for A7 which state A7 does not apply when there is "any credible claim of significance or importance". What does credible mean here? Surely a vague "he won lots of awards" is not credible, and something like "He won the Turner prize twice and the Orange Prize in 2008" would be. I know we don't need references or anything, but surely we need something verifiable otherwise every article asserting that the subject "is the cleverest guy in Texas" or whatever would have to go the PRDO/AfD route? Thanks --Pontificalibus (talk) 16:33, 19 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Drunk Club[edit]

Hi NawlinWiki, I read the list of undeletion examples and my article doesnt really fit in with any of them, its not fake or about myself exclusively or some other marketing spam for a company. Can you please undelete my Drunk Club page.. its my first wikipedia contribution and I intended on editing and rounding it out a bit with some more external links but I couldnt copy the html I wrote and I was still getting the hang of the editor. Anyway, Drunk Club is pretty sweet so don't delete it. Its not hurting anyone. Its a real club and you might even be part of it but I feel its important that this information be available to people on the internet. Can you please give me some advice on what to add to the article to keep it from being deleted. The photo is of me so theres no licensing issues there and I am happy to remove my name if you think thats too "impartial".

Looking forwards to hearing back from you. Do you contact me directly or do I have to check this page for responses?

Samuraixp (talk) 03:42, 21 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • The problem is that the article needs to show that the club is more than just "real". It needs to show that it's notable per our notability guidelines for organizations, WP:ORG, and it has to support that showing by citing reliable independent sources per WP:V. Finally, Wikipedia is not for things you just made up. Thanks, NawlinWiki (talk) 04:45, 21 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

After a discussion here, I'm curious as to why you "modified AbuseFilter 260 to disallow any edits containing the string "Editor XXV" if they were made by non-autoconfirmed users"? --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 17:39, 21 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Central Railroad of Long Island article[edit]

I had asked another user about an article he wrote on the Central Railroad of Long Island which was deleted by both you and another user, and he suggested I ask you about it. So what was wrong with it the first time? ----DanTD (talk) 03:35, 22 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • All I did was delete a talk page of a redirect per CSD category G8. I didn't delete the original article itself. NawlinWiki (talk) 11:29, 22 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
    • Yes, that's true, but you were who I was told to contact. Now, I can't remember who deleted the page itself, and going through the history isn't working for me. Can you get the deleted history of the old article anywhere? ----DanTD (talk) 14:02, 22 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
      • It looks like User:NE2 erroneously created the original page when he meant to be creating a talk page. He then moved it and the originating page was deleted. So there was really never any content to begin with. NawlinWiki (talk) 16:13, 22 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Christopher Dunn (illustrator)[edit]

Hi

I have just noticed that you have deleted the above page and your comments "This is a young guy with an ego - there's nothing on the internet about him, and it was obviously written by him. Un-noteworthy person."

I wrote the article and I am not Christopher Dunn as you have assumed. I have already provided a link on the internet http://www.keighleynews.co.uk/leisure/knightsout/knightsfeatures/4568423.Guitarist_switches_to_art/

He has recently completed his first exhibition which included http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fred_Hoyle

Please reconsider re-instating the page and amend the remark about being written by him. I have no relationship with him at all, I added the page in good faith. If the page and credibility is unclear I wish to amend it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Percyvear (talkcontribs) 17:31, 23 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Requesting unprotection of Johann Sebastian Bach[edit]

Greetings. Would you be so kind as to unprotect the Johann Sebastian Bach article? I am a university professor who has assigned my students to edit articles on topics of their choosing. One of them chose Bach, and has already done a considerable amount of conscientious preparatory work. I have vetted the proposed edits and everything appears to be in order. This would be a good-faith attempt to improve the article, and I believe the student in question will succeed in doing so. I was attempting to place a banner at the top of the article to indicate that it is part of a class project, but I ran into the semiprotection. This is an unforeseen glitch that could seriously hamper the project. Thanks for your consideration. Museprof (talk) 21:16, 28 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Central Law Training[edit]

Hey. Was just reviewing that when you deleted it; I don't disagree with a G11, but it seems, at most, somewhat notable within the field (or so Google News says). Just bringing this up in case you think it's wise to undelete and place it into AFD. Cheers, m.o.p 18:16, 30 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Doomsday arcade[edit]

I was Writing this article on an unreliable internet connection, so I would upload a section, when I was done with it; it was flagged 'A7' yet is it quite popular on the escapist and even won the 2008 Escapist Film Festival, and it contained links to other wiki pages to explain terms and everything... I worked a long time on it, please restore it, —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bobdotexe (talkcontribs) 22:04, 30 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not familiar with Doomsday myself and I'm not an admin so I can't read what you wrote in the article. However, from what I've heard of Doomsday, I think that, if anything, it would get a section on the Escapist article and nothing more. That's second-hand opinion maybe, but if it isn't notable that would explain the deletion. --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 22:09, 30 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

User Complaints[edit]

Clear Enterprise[edit]

I am contesting deletion under the category of "unambiguous advertising". I have read the guidelines you referred to and was very careful to follow correct formatting and refrain from any opinions negative or positive, in order to remain neutral and informative. I've actually read them through because this must be my third attempt at publishing the article (I'm really trying and am confident that this latest submission is within the guidelines and spirit of Wikipedia).

To be honest, I'm honestly sad to say that I'm losing faith in Wikipedia. I thought it was for everyone, for anyone, to share any neutral information that allowed people to find out more (about more stuff), in one place.

Well, there is so much unwarranted negativity and red tape that it feels like it's just not worth it. I feel that I should be telling everyone how contributing within the guidelines of Wikipedia (as I have done) is a big waste of time (I don't want to... but that's how I feel).

This is very frustrating. Could you please actually tell me how that page qualified as unambiguous advertising? Because if not, then shouldn't it be undeleted?

When someone has put hard work into creating a totally neutral and informative page, I don't understand how an admin can delete it without providing even a single specific and referenced reason. And without a chance for meangingful discussion. How can we possibly help the community to grow within the guidelines and spirit of Wikipedia and keep in check anyone who might otherwise impede it's growth and good nature (making unwarranted claims and imposing unfair penalties on honest contributors).

I feel that I'm trying to make an honest and valuable contribution and that at present I'm surrounded by bullies who answer to no-one. Is that the spirit under which Wikipedia was created or is supposed to be administered?

Please refer to Wikipedia guidelines: Wikipedia:CSD#G11 "Note that simply having a company or product as its subject does not qualify an article for this criterion."

Separate User[edit]

I was unable to even finish my publication and you deleted it when it had the "hang on" mode. Why would you do that. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ilovedillonthomas (talkcontribs) 00:08, 1 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If an article has no chance of being notable or is an attack page or similar, then it can be deleted with the hangon tag. Did you remember to explain why the hangon tag was placed in the article's talk page? If not, that's another likely reason. --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 00:12, 1 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
