Yehoodi article
[edit]I noticed your comment on Mikkalai's talk page regarding an article for Yehoodi. I actually did write an article on Yehoodi a while back, but it was subsequently deleted for not meeting the criteria for notability. You can look at the vote on the article here. Out of six votes, I was the only one who voted to keep it. --Cswrye 04:41, 11 April 2006 (UTC)
PlainJane 05:44, 11 April 2006 (UTC) I've just added an article on Yehoodi. Hopefully it'll prove useful and worthy of a place in wikipedia.
Category help
[edit]I fixed the categorization. Generally, the guideline is that if an article is in a subcategory, it should not also be placed in its parent category. The exception to this is that if an article defines a subcategory, it should remain in the parent category. For example, since the Lindy Hop history article is in the Lindy Hop category, it should not also be placed in the swing dances category. However, since the Lindy Hop article defines the Lindy Hop category, it belongs in both categories. --Cswrye 07:56, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
On lindy hop
[edit]Hey there. After watching the Lindy hop article for a few months now, it looks like you're the front-person for the article. I've been meaning to get my elbows in there for a while and finally made a start today. I just wanted to say that you've done a really great job with the article so far, and ask you to not take any of my edits too harshly. I.e. if you dislike any of them please revert or let me know that the changes are bad/annoying/imply the wrong information. I'm more interested in improving the flow and readability of the article than debating the facts (and seriously, I bow to your past experience and knowledge for those). Anyway, it's been great seeing your contributions and I'll hopefully start adding my own! --Koeppen 04:20, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
- Awesome! Excellent additions to a "further reading" list! I'll respond to the other things on the Talk page when I have more time to procrastinate too (but for now will say that I agree about the two article split).--Koeppen 21:11, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
- Helping to write a dissertation on lindy hop sounds infinitely more fun than writing my own (which I'm supposed to be doing instead of editing Wikipedia). But maybe could switch for a little while? :-) --Koeppen 19:00, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
- June I know you are the person with whom to ask so I will. In your studies have you found any teachers or people that can impart knowledge of how to lindy hop and west-coast swing in the upper midwest (Perferred North Dakota or Minnesota). I have searched high and low and the only thing I can find is someone that teaches ballroom swing and eastcoast/jitterbug which I already know. Any help you could be would make me very happy. --Brian (How am I doing?) 20:16, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
Hi Brian,
Sorry, I live in Australia so I can't give you specific help on where to dance in that part of the states. Your best bet would be to try Yehoodi - www.yehoodi.com - and post a message asking for help there. PlainJane 10:06, 19 August 2006 (UTC)
Hello PlainJane, I realize you're in australia, but there were two forums representing their respective scenes that had created Wiki pages to discuss their scenes in a encyclopedic fashion. These wiki pages, swingmonkey and minnesotalindy, have both been deleted without discussion. Do you know anything about this or how I might discover more information about the deletions? Thanks for your help!
~ Shawn 17:18, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
Hi Shawn, I don't know anything about that, sorry - I haven't looked at wikipedia in a few months - teaching time! PlainJane 05:51, 2 November 2006 (UTC)ß
I'm so glad you're taking this page on! futurebird 05:40, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
I think the amount of work I can do on those pages will depend on the time I have available... so that mightn't be much! PlainJane 10:43, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

Could you write about this style? With Ike Turner's death it seems wrong the Club Imperial and the dance are empty pages. I'm just blocks from Club Imperial street address and will try and submit some to it's article including the KXOK Don Pietromonaco ("Johnny Rabbitt" persona) British rock invasion teen club it had. (Same basement area that Imperial Swing developed and Ike and Tina were singing in. The club has had many incarnations and is still a club) Alatari (talk) 06:07, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
Sorry, I know nothing about Imperial Swing...PlainJane (talk) 10:35, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
Ondine
[edit]Please Help! - I am looking for the support of ballet and dance enthusiasts on Wikipedia, to help me prevent the proposed merging of Ondine (Ashton), into an article about the ballet's music. The music for this ballet would not have been written had it not been for the choreographer Frederick Ashton, who commissioned it specially for this ballet. This ballet was one of Ashton's most famous works and it would be a terrible shame for this article to be merged into an article that focusses primarily on the music and the composer rather than the ballet and the choreography.
See here: - Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Classical_music#Straw_Poll
Please vote to oppose this change, as this music would not have been written had it not been for Ashton's ballet!!!
Thank You

Survey
[edit]Hi PlainJane!
I have put together a survey for female editors of Wikipedia (and related projects) in order to explore, in greater detail, women's experiences and roles within the Wikimedia movement. It'd be wonderful if you could participate!
It's an independent survey, done by me, as a fellow volunteer Wikimedian. It is not being done on behalf of the Wikimedia Foundation. I hope you'll participate!
Just click this link to participate in this survey, via Google!
Any questions or concerns, feel free to email me or stop by my user talk page. Also, feel free to share this any other female Wikimedians you may know. It is in English, but any language Wikimedia participants are encouraged to participate. I appreciate your contributions - to the survey and to Wikipedia! Thank you! Hey! I am trying to revive WikiProject Dance and am contacting all members to see if they are still available. If you are interested in continuing, please let me know so I can keep you on the members list. If not, let me know and I'll move your name to the inactive members. Please respond on the project talkpage within seven days or you name will be labeled inactive. Please don't reply here. You can always rejoin if you forget to respond. Speedy deletion nomination of Yehoodi
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Yehoodi requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. PamD 22:51, 13 June 2017 (UTC)
The article Yehoodi has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Appears to have been completely unsourced since 2013 - was longer article till recent major surgery, but if no sources beyond its own website can be found then it's time to go.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. PamD 22:53, 13 June 2017 (UTC)
A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Yehoodi is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.
The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Yehoodi (2nd nomination) until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.
Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. PamD 23:26, 13 June 2017 (UTC)
Suggesting merge of Lindy Hop history and Lindy hop today with Lindy Hop
[edit]I noticed that you were relatively active some years ago on the Lindy Hop page, and may have been responsible for some of the splitting. I'm planning to suggest a merger of these three pages, and potentially deletion or merger of some other tangential pages like Lindy exchange. It seems to me that discussing the History and Current State of a thing are pretty major purposes of the article about that thing, so I'm not sure why these pages were split off. There appears to be a large lack of references and a troubling tend towards self-promotion in the "Lindy space" (i.e. the various articles relating to the dance and scene) so I think some merging and deletions could be a good start here. I'd love to hear your thoughts before moving forward! Jelleecat (talk) 04:52, 5 January 2019 (UTC)
