Hi and welcome to wikipedia!! Thanks a lot for adding more info to the list of freshwater aquarium fish species. I have been working on this list too, but lately got a bit too lazy to update it. Since you're already editing an aquarium fish article, I wonder if you might want to join the WikiProject Aquarium Fishes. the project is just starting but we already have a nice group of good editors. You can introduce yourself to other people here. --Melanochromis05:48, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
PS. here's the project newsletter for last month, just in case you're interested to see what has been going on.
As discussed, the {{Fishkeeping-stub}} has been created and about 25 articles has been marked with this stub as you can see in Category:Fishkeeping stubs. However, the stub was almost immediately proposed for deletion at Wikipedia:Stub types for deletion. If you want to save our stub, here's what you can do:
Let the stub-sorting people know you're supporting the stub and vote to keep the stub here.
Find more fishkeeping-related stubs and mark them with {{Fishkeeping-stub}} (but please do not mark this stub to the fish species/genus/family articles as they are in the scope of fish-stub)
"Aquarium box" for fish articles. Several wikipedia in other languages have boxes for aquarium care information (temperature, pH, water hardness, size of fish, etc.). Should we apply that to ours too? See more info and discuss here.
Websites references and/or external links. What do you consider appropriate websites and what're not? What about Planet Catfish, Loach Onlines and the likes? Discuss here

There is a new proposal on naming conventions for fish being discussed at WikiProject Fishes. As a member of a project whose naming conventions would be affected (WikiProject Aquarium Fishes), your feedback would be appreciated at the WikiProject Fishes talk page here. User:DSWebb has created "breedbox" which replaced the taxobox in all goldfish breed articles. See our discussion here.
User:MiltonT has created the "Aquarium and Fishkeeping Hobby" box which has been placed in many articles in the category:fishkeeping. See discussion here.
The Portal:Fish has added a new feature - the Fish Quiz. Feel free to come test your knowledge, interact with other fish editors, try to win the game and collect a special prize.
The project now has an award program for outstanding and exceptional editors.
Our parent wikiproject, the WikiProject Fishes, is having an important discussion about the policy of "Titles of fish species articles". This policy covers the selection of scientific and common names as article titles. It will have a significant impact on a large number of fish articles. See or join the discussion here. Related to this discussion is the title change of the article Mayan cichlid to Cichlasoma urophthalmus.
Aquarium, a featured article since 2005, has been proposed for a review which may lead to the article being de-featured. See the proposal and discuss here. Discuss how to improve the article here.

Thanks for uploading Image:Dole black 40x.JPG. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:Dole black 40x.jpg. The copy called Image:Dole black 40x.jpg has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.
This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and remember exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot03:32, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Activity in Wikiproject Aquarium fish has slowed to a crawl, it seems. We still have a few dedicated editors plus a few new faces (myself included). Any participation is appreciated, however we really can't tackle big projects with this level of activity. Give us a shout if you want to become active again!
