Speedy deletion declined: Bob's Yer Uncle (band)

Hello Roleplayer. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Bob's Yer Uncle (band), a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: A7 is meant for garage bands. With released and reviewed albums, this is beyond the scope of A7. Thank you. Martijn Hoekstra (talk) 20:19, 18 March 2012 (UTC)

That's fine. In all fairness the references to the album reviews were added after it was tagged for speedy deletion. -- roleplayer 21:19, 18 March 2012 (UTC)

BE@TKiCKEDiN Query

My article was chosen for 'speedy deletion' from Wikipedia because it does not show why the article is important or worthy of being on Wikipedia. I have clearly stated that mr.tinoforever is a famous musician, and YouTuber, who has thousands of subscribers, and has recorded at the World-famous Abbey Road Studios. His music has been released onto iTunes and Lander-Boyce now sells CDs, so I have no idea why this article was chosen. I also worked very hard on it to show Lander-Boyce's biorgaphy and discography. Why? Why? Why? Beatkickedin (talk) 10:22, 14 April 2012 (UTC)

Hi, I see the article in question has already been speedily deleted in my absence. Before you decide whether to reintroduce an article on the same subject in the future I would recommend you read our notability guidelines on musicians and bands at WP:MUSIC. Not only will that provide you with an indication of what is and isn't notable it will also help you find and identify the reliable sources required in order to demonstrate notability. -- roleplayer 17:02, 14 April 2012 (UTC)

speedy deletion - Elephant Talk (company).

Hello Roleplayer, I would like to inform you that we are creating a wiki for our company which was reported for speedy deletion. Please consider my request since we would definitely like to put the information concerning our company in wiki.

Kind regards Sanjay etak — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sanjay etak (talkcontribs) 10:40, 14 April 2012 (UTC)

I see the article has now been deleted. Please note for the future that editors are strongly discouraged at Wikipedia from writing about articles with which they have a strong personal connection. Not only does it limit the extent to which you are able to remain objective about the subject you are also more likely to get upset when someone writes about it from an alternative perspective to you. Please see WP:COI for more information. -- roleplayer 17:05, 14 April 2012 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) Well, most of editors in Wikipedia edit only those articles where they have interests or personal connections, surely I'll not edit articles on "Airports in Kenya". But, we should keep WP:NPOV and other guidelines in mind. --Tito Dutta (Message) 15:25, 15 April 2012 (UTC)
There's a big difference in editing articles that you have an interest in, and uploading information about your own company. I said strongly discouraged, not banned. I don't know the exact wording but I believe that's within the spirit of the WP:COI guidelines. -- roleplayer 15:28, 15 April 2012 (UTC)

Toothiologist

Unfortunately this is a REAL PROFESSION and I have given enough references so you can check the very existence of the professional at stake. There is no other English word to describe this alternative medical profession other than calling him a Toothiologist. And YES, the irony is that the term was first used in a sketch of an Irish stand-up comedian. This however shows the irony of this professional.

So is there a "better" term to describe alternative medicine therapists working in the dental field? I challenge you to find me a better one that this one! --DeTandarts (talk) 15:19, 15 April 2012 (UTC)

I have replied at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Toothiologist. -- roleplayer 15:22, 15 April 2012 (UTC)
... not good enough!
YouTube is a reliable source as to the fact that Dara O'Brian uses the term, and considering the fact you can't find it anywhere else, it's the first use of it! Reliable enough.
On the other point, you haven't answered my question: What would a better name be for a toothiologist, as my references clearly show that this is an existing profession (unfortunatly) ? Give me another name for an alternative medical therapist working in the field of dentistry, not being a dentist.... Preferably in one word!
--DeTandarts (talk) 15:33, 15 April 2012 (UTC)
Please continue this conversation at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Toothiologist so that all editors can see where it is. -- roleplayer 15:40, 15 April 2012 (UTC)
The problem with those "practitioners" is also that they try to hide / blend in, using terms like "dental practitioner". Which in a matter of fact they' re not and only confuses the public. I know of a case going on on this subject and I'd be more than glad to add it to the references once the verdict is there. The bottom line is unfortunately that there is no better term describing these people and their activities as "Toothiologists" ....and I'm sorry I didn't come up with that word but Dara O' Brian did. --DeTandarts (talk) 15:41, 15 April 2012 (UTC)

Hi, you nominated the article Vigintas Stankus for deletion, I also went to patrol the page, after searching in Google, I can understand the person in an artist (and most probably a good artist). I have made some changes in the article and asked the article writer to expand more! --Tito Dutta (Message) 15:21, 15 April 2012 (UTC)

I have also asked the creating user to provide more information. -- roleplayer 15:24, 15 April 2012 (UTC)
I was trying to make a list of some of his popular artwork. I have found some (good) art works! I don't want to edit it right now, because I have never heard of the artist! I think you can give the editors some time! What do you think?--Tito Dutta (Message) 16:09, 15 April 2012 (UTC)
I have withdrawn the nomination. -- roleplayer 16:25, 15 April 2012 (UTC)
Great! You can add an "Additional citation needed" tag in the article!:) --Tito Dutta (Message) 16:31, 15 April 2012 (UTC)
...so can you! -- roleplayer 16:35, 15 April 2012 (UTC)

Gordon Sargent

Sorreee, not A7. He ain't real, he's in Grand Theft Auto. No indication in the text of the article, but one of the refs is to a GTA wiki. Probably prod, or a redirect to something or other. Peridon (talk) 11:17, 22 April 2012 (UTC)

Yeah I noticed that too. I PROD'd it even before you left me this message. Np. -- roleplayer 11:20, 22 April 2012 (UTC)

Hi. When you recently edited Konstantin Kagalovsky, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page TVi (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Oops. My bad. It appears to have been fixed now though. -- roleplayer 20:12, 23 April 2012 (UTC)

Quick Question

Hi Roleplayer- thanks for the welcome message. I am having a bit of trouble with a user by the name of Ackees. He (or she) keeps inputting incorrect information on the African Slave Trade article that does not match the source. I have reverted it several times now. Also, looking through his (or her) history of contributions, it appears he (or she) is going around various articles and subtly tweaking the information to reflect an Afrocentrist bias (i.e., minimizing or deleting everything that reflects positively on Europe and bolstering or fabricating things that reflect positively on sub-Saharan Africa). Another example is his (or her) recent unsourced edits on Portuguese Angola, which I also reverted. I am new to the site, so I have no power to do anything regarding this, so hopefully you can take a look and see if a warning is in order. Also, please let me know if I am doing something wrong in regards to reverting the other user's edits. Thanks. ElliotJoyce (talk) 23:04, 23 April 2012 (UTC)

Hi, I'm in the UK and you've left me a message just as I'm about to go to bed! I'll have a look and see what I can suggest tomorrow evening, if that's ok? -- roleplayer 23:07, 23 April 2012 (UTC)
No rush whatsoever. Have a nice rest. ElliotJoyce (talk) 23:21, 23 April 2012 (UTC)
Hi. I have looked at his edits, and at yours. I have also looked at your talk page, and at his. From an outsider there appears to be more to this dispute than I can possibly hope to resolve in the short space of time I get to come online and edit Wikipedia. Malik Shabazz has suggested to him that he take it to Wikipedia:Dispute resolution, and I am suggesting to you that this is an excellent idea. At least then you can get the involvement of other editors who are able to give you the quality time you deserve to sort this out. -- roleplayer 19:20, 25 April 2012 (UTC)

Dear Roleplayer

Hi Roleplayer, thank you for your recent welcome message. Perhaps you can help me with something. I recently created a page for a young musician named Travis Marsh, but the page was marked for speedy deletion by April 23rd. On April 23rd I responded, (at 9:50pm), but it had already been deleted. Travis Marsh is an authentic musician and has won awards and helps with charities and giving back to the community. I did my best to document all of this. Would you be so kind as to guide me in retrieving the deleted article, and perhaps on how to ensure that it isn't marked for deletion? I would greatly appreciate that. (TannaKhaldi (talk) 13:49, 24 April 2012 (UTC))

Hi, thank you for leaving me a message and apologies for taking time to respond. These days I don't get onto Wikipedia every day!
I have looked at the deletion log and the page was not speedily deleted. The deletion of the page was proposed on 16th April, and because nobody responded to the concerns raised satisfactorily the page was deleted on 23rd April. The concerns raised when the page was proposed for deletion were:
Fails WP:MUSICBIO. Has not released multiple albums, no songs on the charts, no awards and no reliable references
WP:MUSICBIO is a guide to the kind of thing we expect to see in Wikipedia articles about musical groups, singers and artists. Perhaps the most important part of that proposed deletion rationale is the last bit about reliable references. WP:RS is a guide to what constitutes a reliable reference, how many you need to have, and has links to help pages showing how to list them.
In your favour is the fact that the page wasn't automatically listed for speedy deletion, which demonstrates that if you were to provide more information and provide reliable sources the page might have a place on Wikipedia. If you want someone to review your article next time you create one you can use Articles for creation, where the article is created in a "non-live" version and reviewed by an experienced editor before being properly created.
Best of luck, and if you need anything else let me know! -- roleplayer 18:40, 25 April 2012 (UTC)

Hi, I need to ask your opinion on the above article. I tagged it for speedy deletion at 23:05 on 23rd April because it clearly didn't meet WP:ORG. 14 minutes later the creating editor tagged it with {{newpage}} and another user subsequently removed the speedy deletion tag as a result.

Nobody has edited the article for the last 36 hours, and I still don't think it meets our notability criteria. At what point is it acceptable to say this is no longer a new page and is therefore eligible to be nominated for deletion? Or is that the wrong approach to take? -- roleplayer 19:10, 25 April 2012 (UTC)

It's not clear from the history whether the editor removed the tag on purpose, since there's nothing about it in the edit summary or on the talk page. Just to be on the safe side, better go with a proposed deletion if you still feel that it's not an appropriate article. Or you could move it to user space. ... discospinster talk 19:41, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
I have PROD'd it. I debated over that one following your response, and it was the fact that it's a bit advert-y and the website was launched the same day the article was created that swung it to prodtown for me. Thanks for looking at it for me. -- roleplayer 20:02, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
PS what is the inspiration behind the name discospinster? -- roleplayer 20:06, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
It's quite simple, really. I like disco, and I'm a spinster. :) ... discospinster talk 20:41, 25 April 2012 (UTC)

Hello

Hello Roleplayer, Thanks for the message, i'm pretty new to wikiapedia so if possible, could you go over the page i've been adding to Hollington, Derbyshire. I have been doing it for my university assignment and wont be allowed to touch it after 2pm tomorow (englnd time)though i would like to spend longer on it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by UP628923 (talkcontribs) 22:51, 2 May 2012 (UTC)
