County maps

Another easy state to knock out would be Delaware and it's three counties. I haven't checked so maybe it's already done. I have about 16 or 17 to go yet on the NC county nav boxes. I nominated Selinsgrove Speedway for DYK could you take a look at it please. I know it's pretty short, but not too short. Dincher 15:28, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for working on the Hughes map. Looking forward to seeing it. The NYC locator map is good too. I didn't know that there already was one done. The lack of info on the DE maps is puzzling. Maybe it's a secret! Dincher 15:54, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
The Hughes map looks fine and dandy. It shows what it needs to show. Thanks! Dincher 01:33, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
I am sure that the scale and north pointing arrow will only help. I was assuming that everybody would know north from south, but I should know better than to assume. Dincher 01:47, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

Thanks, I am glad to finally be done. Don't know what I'll do next, maybe I'll finally get around to the NC State Parks. Been really busy in real life. Dincher 14:51, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

I still don't really have a project to tackle right now. I've been adding some bios of current Penn State Nittany Lions, Category:settlement dates to random places. But I am enjoying kind of taking it easy. Dincher 01:27, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

NY locator

I saw you created the much-overdue NY locator map. I am trying to use it with {{Geobox Protected Area}} in Shawangunk Grasslands National Wildlife Refuge, but as you can see the dot won't cooperate. What am I (or the template) doing wrong? Daniel Case 05:33, 14 July 2007 (UTC)

Never mind. I figured it out. You have to leave it at the default width ... you can't set one. Daniel Case 05:40, 14 July 2007 (UTC)

Illinois Parks

Hey guy. How are you coming with the dot maps for the state parks? I had someone removed the Kaskaskia River State Fish & Wildlife Area map today since there wasn't a dot on it. Just figured I would see what your status is. Thanks man! I appreciate you doing this for us.--Kranar drogin 13:20, 22 July 2007 (UTC)

On the names, I am not sure. A move from & to and would be the best. I can tell the purple and blue apart with little problem. I thought I had answered the questions, but I guess that was it, I THOUGHT about it, haha. As far as another site having a different name for them, I personally am going with the site for now that has them listed. The official Illinois one.--Kranar drogin 01:56, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
I am going to move those two parks though, from & to and, letting you know now so you can fix what you need too.--Kranar drogin 02:20, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
That looks awesome man. Now I just need to finish up List of protected areas of Illinois and get it to FL. You have any ideas, suggestions, or assistance in helping me on this? No worries if your other projects are keeping you busy. I am just VERY happy with that map. It turned out exactly the way I wanted it too. Thanks! And for that, I award you this!
WikiProject Illinois Barnstar
For your amazing work on Illinois Template:State parks of Illinois map, I hearby award you WikiProject Illinois Barnstar. Thanks so very much for your hard work! --Kranar drogin 01:42, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

hi Ruhrfisch, you removed a couple of links I posted to a community board in Central Louisiana. Can you advise as to the proper way to provide this information? It's a non-profit board, and the only online community for this region. It doesn't compete with anything and it acts as a clearinghouse for all the other informational sources out there. Does it have some sort of characteristic that violates wiki's rules? You can email me if you'd like ward at lexiconbusiness dot com

I have a new request now for a map if you don't mind. We are going to be working on the Black Hawk War as you can see at User:IvoShandor/Black Hawk War. I was wondering, if you maybe could do some sort of map of both Illinois and Wisconsin and have dots on there for each battle, maybe a line going from site to site to show the process of the war. This is an article we are going to go for FA with sometime in the near future. Let me know what you think of this idea. I know that there is one map out there on the net you could base it off of if you wish. Another thing, would be to add a few dots to show towns of like some of the major cities involved and so on. Thoughts?--Kranar drogin 01:49, 28 July 2007 (UTC)

Hi Ruhrfisch. Since I will be doing a lot of the research related to this project I thought I would jump in here, hope that's okay. Basically, at this point, I am still sorting through research trying to figure out what was what. The topics are obscure and referenced varied in their assertions, simple things such as nomenclature become problems. Once I figure out where I am going with this I will compile a list for you. I also plan to pour over some historical map collections. I am certain that the Illinois National Guard and U.S. Army have extensive historical map collections related to this conflict and it is likely that someone has utilized them to publish a map collection as I have seen with countless other conflicts.
In my view the map will consist of several major components.
  • Battles, skirmishes and massacres.
  • Major white settlements and forts.
  • Major Native American settlements and forts/camps.
  • Major wagon trails.
  • Political boundaries associated with the time period.
There may be something I am missing that will stand out once I complete my research. I will keep in touch. Thanks for doing this, your maps are outstanding. IvoShandor 03:04, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
I am going to move this all to the project page that I gave you above, so that way we can keep the three-way conversation centralized, alright?--Kranar drogin 03:28, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
Let me get back to you on that. Do you have AIM by chance? Let me know if you do, that is how I stay in pretty good touch with some people. I am thinking as of right now, everything is pretty much set the way its going to be. We just have to create articles for a lot of the forts still.--Kranar drogin 22:29, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

Lycoming County

I see that you're keeping yourself busy correcting references on the PA state park articles. I will start working to get the List of municipalities in Lycoming County or whatever it's going to be called tonight. It's still on my woodchuck user page. Dincher 20:59, 28 July 2007 (UTC)

Something is messed up in at the bottom of the chart. It's all out of whack. I can't figure out the problem. Can you? Dincher 00:37, 29 July 2007 (UTC)
I am done with the woodchuck for tonight. Thnaks for fixing it. I looked and looked for the boo boo and couldn't find it. Yup, your supposed to work on the counties formed from Lycoming County. The resource I used for the settlement dates lists from which county the counties were formed. It's on the PHMC site. I can't access it from work or I would pass it along. There are 120 State Parks because Maurice K. Goddard busted his hump. As for the title error I can only blame the keyboard of your computer! The letters must be misaligned. Gotta work until 10 tonight and tomorrow. Oh joy! Dincher 01:14, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

Looking at things to do for the Lycoming County list, I have found a few articles that need to be started, Plunketts Creek, (currently a redirect to the township), Mill Creek (Loyalsock Creek) and Williamsport and Elmira Railroad. I assume that you have the info for the cricks readily available. Maybe Choess has info for the RR. Dincher 19:17, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

You assumed correctly about the Mill Creek I was referring too. Too many Mill Creeks. Definetly a DYK. 16 more minutes at JCP. My brain is numb from boredom. Thanks for the creeks and RR. Dincher 01:45, 30 July 2007 (UTC)

Locator maps

I was looking at your newest maps and at Vermont specifically. On the New York map you included Lake Champlain, but it is not on the Vermont map. Can you add it to the map? VerruckteDan 12:53, 30 July 2007 (UTC)

Looks good. Good luck with the tricky border states. Once you are successful with those, you should reward your self with some easy Western states (CO or WY). VerruckteDan 20:56, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
A quick observation on Florida. The coloration isn't quite right around Lake Okeechobee. VerruckteDan 22:41, 30 July 2007 (UTC)

I was wondering if there was any specific reason you decided to go with a PNG instead of SVG format for Image:Colorado_Locator_Map.PNG. If it was in SVG, it would be able to scale in size better and colors, etc. can be changed easier. Is there a process I could follow to create a similar file in SVG format — wondering how you converted the coordinates, etc. into the PNG? The image itself looks very nice. Thanks. --MattWright (talk) 01:38, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

You just keep rolling these maps out. Quick question about Arizona (and it will also apply to the Nevada map). Should Lake Mead be included? I'll try to not suggest the inclusion of any more lakes...as long as Lake Tahoe is on the CA/NV maps. VerruckteDan 18:07, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

Town Creek Indian Mound

A site I plan on visiting Sunday, only since I just wrote about it. Town Creek Indian Mound. Could you take a look at it and suggest a DYK? 6 more maps to go huh? Maybe you should change your user name to MrMaps =)! Dincher 00:06, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the DYK suggestion. Maybe you could just annex the borders! I am sure that Michigan and Washington are going to be a hassle. Especially that part of Washington that is a peninsula connected to Canada and not the rest of WA. Dincher 20:54, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

Plunketts Creek

I like the third DYK option best. Good luck! I will look more later. Right now we are in the middle of cleaning up an office. Dincher 21:49, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

I like it best because it gives a title to the Plunkett in question. It also seems to focus more on the creek and less on the township. Dincher 02:07, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
I wouldn't be surprised if there are more Mill Creeks. Back in the old days, where there was a mill there was a creek, hence Mill Creek. We should have some more pictures of the state parks soon. I know there are pics of Ole Bull State Park and Cherry Springs State Park wating for me to pick up. Thanks for the additions to the Chuck. Dincher 02:16, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

Good luck with the nomination. I was wondering when you were going to get around to posting your pics. Two more days and I will be out of this heat! Dincher 21:32, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

I am glad I am not a fish in Plunketts Creek these days! Does the Williamsport and Elmira run up Lycoming Creek and then up 14 to Elmira? If it does I am pretty sure most of that track is gone. Dincher 22:03, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

You forgot to sign your nomination for the creek. And there is an interesting question under your nomination about the name controversy. Dincher 22:08, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

Did you get the above note? I expanded some on the Plunkett name controversy, might help with the question on the DYK talk page. Dincher 22:50, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
I think that you did a great job explaining the controversy around the name. Hopefully the waters are now less muddied. (I couldn't resist the pun). Also pics of Hyner Run State Park are very nice. I like how the sun shines through the trees. Dincher 21:33, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

Locator maps

Thanks for creating all of those locator maps of the states. (I think you missed Alaska, though. It might look funny in equirectangular projection.) I'm looking into creating {{Location map}} maps for the vast majority of states that don't already have them. Then, those maps can be used in all sorts of infoboxes, like cities and National Register of Historic Places properties as in {{Infobox nrhp}}.

Is it possible to easily find the latitude of the top and bottom of each map, and the longitude of the left and right sides of each map? I'm asking because the individual per-state location maps, as in {{Location map Minnesota}}, need to know the top/bottom latitudes and left/right longitudes so it can calculate where to put the dot. I've done it by inspection for the Minnesota and Vermont location maps, but if you're using a GIS program or using a source on the US Census website that lists the latitude/longitude, that would make it easier. If you can find this data easily, that would be great; otherwise, I can continue to do it by inspection. I'm not in any big hurry or anything, and there are 43 states to go, regardless. --Elkman (Elkspeak) 18:41, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

Black Hawk War

Hey Ruhr. While researching for my second expansion of Attacks at Blue Mounds Fort I came across this article, "Uncovering the Story of Fort Blue Mounds." Page 5 has a great map that could be used as a reference point and possible model for our map, while not everything is marked on there, quite a lot is (since it's from a Wisconsin magazine it's a bit sparse on Illinois locations). What is missing can be supplemented from other maps, such as the historical map linked on the collaboration talk page. Check that out though, let me know what you think. IvoShandor 19:41, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

We could do a couple different ones or just cut what we include. It seems to me the movements are important and the battles, maybe the main forts, rivers can just be drawn they don't have to be labeled as the article will provide such context probably. I am not really sure how to approach it. I do know that the list on the Collab talk page is probably too long and includes too many peripheral items. IvoShandor 21:03, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

DYK

Updated DYK query On 9 August, 2007, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Plunketts Creek (Loyalsock Creek), which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

--Circeus 21:02, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for pointing that. I switched it for see see riders right after updating because DYK was a wee bit short. Will fix now. Circeus 23:07, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
Congrats on the DYK! Back in NC alive and well. Dincher 16:53, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

Susquehanna Navbox

Ruhrfisch, take a look at this for some guidance on the changes to the collapse/hide feature. VerruckteDan 18:46, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

Black Hawk redux

Template response posted on the collaboration talk page, I would recommend looking at the place articles, I think you'll agree they are needed when you read them. : ) IvoShandor 02:27, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

Ravensburg State Park

I have added my pics of Ravensburg to the commons and some to the main page. My pic of the dam shows some sunlight, but the water is very low. I like the high water in your pic and the sunlight in my pic. I wish we could have both. Sticking with the high water pic for now. What do you think? And you mention something about some other nav box, I guess is what it is called, that includes a pic of the park instead of the locator map. What's the deal with that? Dincher 20:42, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

Thanks. We'll just have to wait on it. I could live without the ICUN's or whatever they are. Crows seem to be using the entrance sign a Shik for target practice. They were surrounding the sign. My pics from the top were lousy so I didn't even upload them. Dincher 21:06, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

Geobox

Actually, Template:Geobox Protected Area is complete and used on a few articles. The IUCN information is part of the template. Shawangunk Grasslands National Wildlife Refuge is probably the best example of a US park using the template and I thinks its an improvement on the current Infobox template. The only outstanding issue I see is that the Geobox does not convert acres to square km, instead it converts them to hectares (also sq miles to sq km). VerruckteDan 23:17, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

  • Thanks. The question is. Who wants to do all the conversions to the new box for the Pennsylvania State Parks? Doesn't sound like much fun to me. Dincher 23:19, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
I did a test conversion at Point State Park, let me know what you think. VerruckteDan 04:21, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
I made a checklist of PA state parks to help track the conversion process. VerruckteDan 15:59, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

I've been changing the rounding for the area and elevation to 1. I think that having the conversions to the tenths place is a better accuracy than leaving it as a whole number. Your thoughts? VerruckteDan 23:04, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

I uploaded some pics for R. B. Winter State Park and McCalls Dam State Park to commons. I will not be able to get them on wiki anytime in the next several days. Could you move them please? Add the geoboxes as well if you so desire. Have a fantastic evening! Dincher 20:43, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
Woke up early today and killed some time and found a pic for Elk State Park at East Branch Clarion River Lake. Again I won't have time to get to moving it into a geobox anytime soon. Dincher 10:58, 17 August 2007 (UTC)and there is a possibly free image for Kettle Creek State Park here Dincher 11:04, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
Say, I looked at the Kinzua Bridge State Park article and saw it had quite a bit in the way of images. I have some images here of the bridge before it was destroyed that I could upload and license freely, took them myself in 2001 I did, don't know how the quality will be since I have to scan them but I have them, and they're free, as in libre. IvoShandor 11:13, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

Zip to Zap

I have the Zip to Zap up and running. What do you think of this DYK idea? *...that the Zip to Zap originally intended as a spring break alternative in Zap, North Dakota became known as the only official riot to be quelled by the National Guard in the history of North Dakota? Dincher 00:07, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

According to my references the Zip to Zap is indeed the only ND riot that needed some quelling by the National Guard. Thanks for the copy edits and the DYK idea. I have submitted it. Dincher 03:08, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

Hello from Scotia

Thanks for your kind remarks and hints. I have quite a backlog on my to do list but I will get there. Incidentally one of my concerns on St Kilda is that for an FA attempt it should probably quote the page numbers of the individual citations. Do you think that is likely to be a requirement? Ben MacDui (Talk) 18:24, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

St Lawrence County New York locator map

The St Lawrence County New York locator map Map of New York highlighting Saint Lawrence County.svg is noticeably different from all of the other New York county locator maps. See, for example, List of counties in New York. As one who is knowledgeable in maps, could you please take a look at it and let me know what should be done to make it the same as the others. Thanks. Truthanado 15:26, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the quick feedback. Take your time. I've been updating several NY town articles and noticed that this map looked different in the list of counties article. Thanks again. Truthanado 22:12, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

Is this new?

The locator maps on the DCNR sites for the parks look familiar. Are they new? It looks an awful lot like the maps we put up on wiki. Dincher 19:35, 19 August 2007 (UTC) Okay thanks. Dincher 22:57, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

It's good to know that the DCNR pages are being improved upon and that maybe the List of PA stat parks and articles may be influencing the improvements. It seems as if answers.com has swiped nearly all it's state park info from wiki and getting advertising dollars as well. Dincher 23:59, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

Tim Duncan Peer Review

Has WP:PR changed. Tim Duncan got archived lickety split and has no auto review. Could you add an auto review? Could you explain it quick archiving?--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 14:51, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

The article Plunketts Creek (Loyalsock Creek) you nominated as a good article has passed , see Talk:Plunketts Creek (Loyalsock Creek) for eventual comments about the article. Well done! T Rex | talk 12:53, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

Ridley Creek State Park here no idea about this one. Couldn't see anything about it other than the thumb on google.Dincher 23:57, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
Norristown Farm Park one from flickr again can't see anything but the thumb. Dincher 00:26, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

I am in the process of going one by one through the state parks by name on flickr. Found Norristown Farm and Benny Rush so farm. The Norristown one is different from the above. Dincher 21:23, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

I too was excited to find a pic for Rush. I am gonna find one more of another park and call it a night. Dincher 01:56, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

Thanks

Thank you for recently warning me of my potential conflict of interest regarding my edits to the Geneva College article. It is true that I work for the institution, yet as you know from reading the COI guidlines this does not bar me from "participating in articles and discussion of articles where [I] have a conflict of interest." Rather, I "must be careful when editing in mainspace. Compliance with this guideline requires discussion of proposed edits on talk pages and avoiding controversial edits in mainspace." Thus far I have done my best to thoroughly discuss my edits and my rationale. My main conflict has been the use of photos (which were replaced with my personal photos) and the inclusion (and subsequent removal) of notable alumni of the college. I hardly think any of these edits constitute a conflict of interest. I would be happy to know if you, as an Administrator, feel otherwise. Thanks StarFish! Bmstephany 03:54, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

Little League

Thanks for adding the wonderful Little League pic. It brings back lots of memories. Dincher 21:31, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

I looked on the commons to see if you posted the LL pics in question. If you want an opinion, I will probably have one. Hot and sweaty in NC. Good night. Dincher 05:20, 25 August 2007 (UTC)

Allegheny Islands State Park

Thanks for fixing my mistakes on 12 and 14 mile islands. I just got the names confused. I will wait to hear more from you regarding the merges. It sounds like you are cool with merging 14 now but not 12 yet. Am I correct? Dincher 15:39, 25 August 2007 (UTC)

I agree, it's a good idea to wait to hear from the creator of the articles in question. Have a good one! Dincher 16:17, 25 August 2007 (UTC)

Which state park article do you think has the best potential for reaching GA status? Probably one with some interesting history. I will be looking them over, we should be able to find one pretty easily or perhaps more than one. The LL pics look good. The one with the kid stepping in front would be really good without him. Kids. Dincher 03:37, 26 August 2007 (UTC)

I've been pretty busy IRL. I have been thinking about parks for GA. For now I am going to focus on Worlds End State Park for several reasons. The story of it's name is interesting, the history of the area is pretty interesting too. Also PA DCNR has a good bit of work about the geology of the park published. I am going to start working on it tonight. I will keep you informed about the progress. Thanks for suggesting Rickets Glen and Mont Alto as well. I will look into them as well. Dincher 22:12, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
I've updated Worlds End State Park as much as I care to update it. Do you think it needs more for GA? I tried running the peer review but it just jacked up the sq km's. Counted lots of Loyalsocks too. A similar problem you encountered in [[Plunketts Creek (Loyalsock Creek). Dincher 23:49, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for the input. I expanded the opening paragraph. I will wait to hear from you before working on the article again. Feel free to make any changes you'd like to make. Thanks again. Dincher 00:22, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
Thanks again. Have a good one. Good night! Dincher 03:15, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

Okay, I guess I am done with Whirlies Glen State Park. Now I have to nominate it. I think I know how and will go ahead with what I think I am supposed to do. If you see any mistakes please let me know or just go ahead and fix 'em. I never heard of Huerle's Bend but it sounds like a possibility. No less possible than the other naming stories. Okay, here goes. Dincher 00:29, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

I done what I think I needed to do for the nomination, including adding you as a nominee. Did I miss anything? Dincher 01:00, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
I reworked the opening by adding a sentence about the name. I am not too happy with it. Could you fix it up? You could exclude the unique name and add something about the naming controversy. It's too late for me too think about it now. Good night. Sleep tight. Dincher 04:02, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
I haven't had much time to think either, don't sweat it. Happy Friday. Dincher 11:07, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

Woo Hoo we did it! Dincher 04:35, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

Boyd Big Tree Park

I couldn't find the coordinates/elevation for Boyd Big Tree Preserve Conservation Area on GNIS. I estimated the coordinates for now, but can you take a look and see if you have any look finding the data from GNIS? VerruckteDan 02:08, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

I think that I got the coordinates by eyeballing the park on google earth. I never found it on any map. Dincher 02:55, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
You can find it on the PennDOT Dauphin County map (which is linked on the park's article page). I could not find it in GNIS either - I will sometimes enter just the first part of the name, but couldn't find it under Boyd or Big Tree or Boyd Big Tree. Some other parks do not have GNIS entries either - Bucktail does not, nor does Allegheny Islands. I have had good results contacting the USGS, so I will let them know about these and would be glad to pass along any others we find. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 03:17, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
I just looked at the PennDOT map and the Google Earth photos and the dot looks like it is in the park. The dot has an elevation of about 920 feet (according to Google Earth). If I contact them tomorrow, my guess is that USGS GNIS will have coordinates and an elevation in their database in a few days. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 03:29, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
Sound good. And if you're contacting GNIS, let me ask you this. There is a listing for Buchanan's Birthplace as a Locale, but not Buchanan's Birthplace State Park as a park. Do you thing both should be included in the GNIS? I used the info from the "Locale" in the article's Geobox. VerruckteDan 04:34, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

Erie Bluffs State Park needs a GNIS entry. I estimated coordinates/elevation from Google Earth. VerruckteDan 23:41, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

Request for lots of maps

Although some places in Category:Unincorporated communities in Ohio have maps, most don't. Would you be able to create some of the standard "Image:OHMap-doton-townname.png" maps for at least some of them? Nyttend 19:50, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

(butting in here) It would probably be more convenient to use {{Infobox Settlement}}, which calls {{Location map}}, which in itself calls {{Location map Ohio}}. Using {{Location map}} takes an existing map image and superimposes a dot on it with a caption. That way, nobody has to upload extra maps. I've added {{Infobox Settlement}} to Adams Mills, Ohio as an example. --Elkman (Elkspeak) 22:42, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

PR

For amazing work on WP:PR/A, you definitely deserve this long overdue award. AZ t 15:45, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the offer. I was planning on offering such tools to you back in (I think) around May, but I have since gotten rather distracted from Wikipedia and never got the opportunity to work out the details.

Unfortunately I've forgotten much of how the script works, so I think it may be better if I just directly offer you access to the User:AZPR account (I can email you the password). It's not actually that much special, as there were a bunch of things I wanted to do but never got around to doing. Also, I've never gotten that account approved yet as a bot (I think there was some part of the policy which said that semibots didn't have to be approved) ...

(The details: If I recall correctly, it directly sends all articles to edit mode and automatically opens up the PR script to save a bit of time, and it does some other more minor automatic things like edit summaries. There's also a function which uses a trick from WP:WPUS/T#Editing the wikitext of a page which opens up all of the actual peer review pages, inserts the little message, and then saves the page. I wanted to make it completely automated by just opening up all of the articles and running all of the reviews in a similar manner, but I'm afraid it would lag terribly)

I'm going to make a couple of changes to make the functions less esoteric, then impending your response I will send you the password.

Almost forgot - you definitely deserve this for your work. AZ t 15:45, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

I'm glad to hear of any suggestions you might have, though given my inclination towards procrastination, I'm not sure how far I might get with them ;). AZ t 21:45, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
Check your e-mail soon, I'm going to email it as soon as I change the password on the account (right now, its the same as that of my main account).
Regarding the things to fix, I found a coding mistake which explains (1), fixed (2), possibly (haven't tested) fixed (3), and (5) not sure why that's happening.
I do not believe there is anything wrong with allowing two users two share an account, though it's probably a rare case so there's no wiki-policy I can think of that discusses the topic. Of course, I've never tried it before, so I don't know if a method like a dummy-edit is necessary. I don't think a log is necessary; the history log there should suffice, since with SATs and the like coming up this year for me I probably won't have much time available for helping out on the WP.
Thanks, AZ t 20:07, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
I looked through .. everything looks fine. I fixed the redirect; the script uses the abbreviations "J","F","M","A","MY","JN","JL","AU","S","O","N","D" for months. Thanks, AZ t 01:40, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

The ampersand problem has existed for a while, I believe that JavaScript doesn't recognize the ampersand (or its confusing the ampersand with all of the other ampersands that usually appear in the URL bar when editing a page .. don't remember which). I'll see if I can fix it. I can manually force the script to say August for now (just let me know when I should revert it back, and I'll change it to normal). Thanks, AZ t 01:42, 15 September 2007 (UTC)

Sure - time rewinded a month :). AZ t 01:51, 15 September 2007 (UTC)

Renewable energy

Many, many thanks - although I don't know why you are giving me a gong, it should be the other way around. I will save one up for a later. All the best - and let me know if you ever need anything. Ben MacDui (Talk) 08:00, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

Just back from the wild west (of Scotland). It all seems to be under control. What is it about the flag? - I think its pretty 'gallus' as we say here. All the best. Ben MacDui (Talk) 19:06, 8 September 2007 (UTC)

Timber Creek

Thanks for the pat on the back, and thanks a million for Paulins Kill. That's exactly what I was looking for as a model; it'll be a big help. Oh, and thanks for explaining about your name, Mr. Stirfish—I had you dodging herons in the industrial heartland of Germany. --Milkbreath 00:30, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

Barnstar

Thanks for the barnstar, but you too are certainly worthy of the Groundhog.

Pennsylvania State Parks Groundhog Award
This award is given with respect and admiration to Ruhrfisch for his continuing devotion to Pennsylvania state park articles and especially for all his work on the List of Pennsylvania state parks, switching to Geoboxes, providing the PennDOT maps to track down township locations and filling GNIS's inbox with email. VerruckteDan 16:40, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
Your woodchuck doesn't have a target like mine. =( Thanks for mine! Very funny. Remember to control the impulses to hunt groundhogs because the hunting of groundhogs is forbidden at all 120 Pennsylvania state parks! Dincher 18:06, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
Doh! I didn't see the band around his neck. The medal would make a fine target, perhaps a little to low. Carl Spackler would think that it is a target. Dincher 19:48, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
An addendum to the Barnstar: adding the course of the Lehigh Gorge Park. Good work, I had gathered all the townships/boroughs yesterday, but was trying to figure out how to craft it into a readable sentence. Nicely done. VerruckteDan 19:10, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

State Forest Maps

I don't know how you made the Loyalsock State Forest map, but it sure looks good. I assume that you didn't just use the paint program on your computer. I looks much better than the other maps. Dincher 02:17, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the explanation, I would have to see it step by step to really understand the process. Dincher 03:11, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
Looks great. You're well on your way to a second groundhog award. VerruckteDan 04:02, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
Thanks very much to both of you. I made a map for William Penn State Forest and would like feedback on it. The three tracts of land are so small (their total area is only 812 acres) that they literally do not show up if drawn to scale, so I put three red dots on the map at the three locations. Does it look OK? I used shading on the dots, but maybe pure red would show up better? I am replying here to keep the conversation in one place, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 16:14, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
The dots serve the purpose. They show where the tracts are. It's a shame they aren't bigger. (The tracts) I wonder why they have such small tracts, so far apart that are state forests. Sounds like they should be state parks. The gopher from Bushwood could move to golf courses at Caledonia or Evansburg and enjoy a considerable amount of safety! Dincher 20:26, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

Change Kittanning to Clear Creek really doesn't make sense, especially since they just changed Valley Forge to William Penn to avoid naming confusion! Ah, the wheels of state government at work! Dincher 20:09, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

Comments on war

Yeah, I did, sorry I didn't respond. I had to separate myself a bit, I meant no offense, and I might add, thank you for your concern about my well-being following our natural disaster. Every one in my town was okay, albeit, a bit wet, you can check out the worst of the flooding in DeKalb, Illinois at this commons gallery, the river in those pictures is really a glorified creek, you can see what it looks like during normal time at the article Kishwaukee River. Other places were far worse off, though some around here did lose much, at least no one here was killed.

As for Black Hawk, I suspect you are correct, I am probably all worked up over nothing. Perhaps I will shoot him an email, after all, I am an alum, that should count for something, right? Ha! Anyway, I am in far better spirits and have spent time in the quiet solitude of my user space, as you can see from the message currently on my user page.

Some other things, saw the map, great background, so long as we get far enough north to include the Bad Axe River, especially at its confluence with the Mississippi. Iowa is really mostly unimportant, though I suspect Keokuk's Reserve, which I believe is located near or in present-day Keokuk, Iowa, might have a place on the map. I don't know if we need to go as far south in Illinois as the map does, it might be more beneficial, especially in the context of the mining region around Galena, to include more of Wisconsin than Illinois, just my take. Thanks for all your work on this so far Ruhr, I owe you a PA GA! IvoShandor 18:55, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

Cape Henlopen State Park

For no particular reason I expanded Cape Henlopen State Park tonight. I am mulling some DYK ideas. DYK...that Cape Henlopen State Park in Sussex County has been a public land since 1682 when it was designated as such by William Penn. Or DYK...that Cape Henlopen State Park, formerly a World War II era fort has largely been used as public lands is 1682 when it was set aside by William Penn. Dincher 23:58, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the suggestions. The nom is in. Dincher 01:32, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
State Park Wikiproject? I've been mulling that too. (see email) We could have a nifty logo with a groundhog! Dincher 03:21, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for the congrats. I will be in a Delaware State Park again tonight. Woo-Hoo! Dincher 20:06, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
Yeah sure go ahead and email it! I didn't get to see it on the main page. The pic did too (I think). I notified the user that posted it so hopefully I was right. Saw the Erie Bluffs pic. Good one! Dincher 21:30, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

Since I started on the Delaware state parks and since I really have nothing better to do with my hours here at JC Penney I have begun expanding and or creating the Delaware State Parks. Oh what would I do without wikipedia. Now I have moved onto Fort Delaware State Park. Here is a DYK idea to bounce off you DYK...that Fort Delaware State Park once a Civil War POW camp is now home to one of the largest heronries north of Florida.? Dincher 00:24, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

Oh yeah, what must I do to add the convert template to the articles? I think I am missing something pretty obvious. Dincher 00:33, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for the commas. I must've been absent when the Sisters were talking about commas. It may need a copy edit, those commas, you know. Dincher 01:22, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
Wow! Now I have pleny of commas, but I am still unsure of when and where to use them, most of the time. I think the previous commas were all warranted, perhaps not. Add them as need to Fort Delaware and please add the convert templates so I will have an example. Time to close the store! Dincher 01:30, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for clueing me in on the converts. I will try them tomorrow night at JCP on my latest state park article. If you have the time or inclination you might want to check behind me on the nearby state parks for White Clay Creek Preserve and Ridley Creek State Park. I missed lots awhile back. I was getting lazy, there are so many parks near Philly. At some point I just gave up. Obviously I found alot in DE. Dincher 23:50, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the IUCN link. It doesn't work at work, I will use it a home. The National Parks part is interesting and weird. Dincher 20:20, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

Fox Point State Park is tonight's creation. DYK idea, DYK...that Fox Point State Park a Delaware State Park along the Delaware River was built atop a hazardous waste site? Sound good? Tweaks, as always are welcome or maybe it's not DYK worthy don't be afraid to let me know. Dincher 00:30, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

Presque Isle map

Thanks catching that. I felt two maps of roughly the same thing was redundant, so I went with the more localized one. Sorry for any inconvenience. --Dtbohrertalkcontribs 03:04, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

This has nothing to do with the map but, at a glance, do you think Presque Isle State Park is GA quality? Or close to it? I think its pretty close, I need more opinions on whether or not it should be nominated. --Dtbohrertalkcontribs 04:05, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

Hey, thanks for my first B-rating. Would happen to have any advice on how to improve it, good sources to use for missing info, etc.? Cheers! Murderbike 22:57, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, I screwed up. I totally know about that difference, and wasn't paying close enough attention, feeling to excited that I found an easy way to make a map. Thanks for replacing it! Murderbike 00:10, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
Hmmm, that geolinks river template is kind of confusing me. I don't really understand how you add it in. Do you have to add coordinates to it? Or just the names of the mouth and source? Murderbike 08:07, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

Secret Page

This user has been fooled by Destructo_087.

You sort of cheated but still here you go. Sorry about the latness of this reward but I was busy doing other stuff.--DestructoTalk to me 03:47, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

Geo Box error

Thanks for catching that error in the geobox. I was using the new geobox on some NC state parks. Glad you caught it before too much damage was done. Dincher 01:43, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

I like the panorama. When we were up there in the summer it was cold, wet and rainy, not good for a panorama picture. Very, very nice. Dincher 22:07, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

Request for copy edit of Fox Point State Park. I am at my wits end on this one. See nomination discussions. I think I have it correct now. Dincher 02:36, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

An explanation at the nomination would be most appreciated. Thanks. Dincher 20:29, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

I've kept myself somewhat sane this evening by creating Holts Landing State Park and Lums Pond State Park there are a few Delaware State Parks to go. I don't think either one is very interesting. Holts may have a DYK. Any more pics to post? Dincher 00:48, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

I hadn't noticed that you saw Fox Point on the main page. Before I received the notice! I actually have been able to seen an article I worked on be on the main page. This hasn't happened too often. I am usually at school. (Only two days left until a break!) Is there a pic of a statue of the Chief? Dincher 01:18, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

There is a statue of Shik at the Conrad Weiser Homestead and I would bet there is one at Shikellamy High School. I don't know about at the park. I saw it too on the next update. Dincher 20:11, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

Hopefully you'll get to make the trip to the Homestead sooner rather than later. It's nice to be thinking about PA history. There has been a silly edit war going on at Joe Paterno and Bobby Bowden that I am doing my best to keep from getting out of hand. As it currently stands, I think that the issue makes Penn State fans look silly, but passions can run high sometimes. The upcoming PSU/Michigan game is giving me fits when I let it. Anyway, I am off to some other Delaware State Park where JoePa and Bobby are not an issue. Dincher 21:13, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
I think that the edit war has reached a temporary cease fire. That will happen when PSU loses. I added some commnets at Plunketts Creek. Excellent work. Dincher 22:53, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

Byron Nuke Plant

Your points all make sense. I will work on incorporating, we are planning on FA right off for this one, any other suggestions for the gauntlet? Do you need anything reviewed? IvoShandor 01:35, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

Cool, just let me know. There were a couple, energy and such, I queried them but never got a response, that was back when I first submitted it to PR. Perhaps I will try again once I do some more work on it. IvoShandor 02:34, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

from Koplimek

hi Ruhrfisch, sorry I took so long to respond. Just want to say thanks for your welcome. Actually have been posting long before I decided to create an account. So there's a little bit or should I say a lot of me all over the place. Thanks again Ruhrfisch for your friendliness. Happy posting. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Koplimek (talkcontribs) 15:05, September 18, 2007 (moved here from my User page - Ruhrfisch)

Geobox 2

Hello, this message is sent to you because you've shown some interest in the Geobox templates in past. There is now a new version (aka Geobox 2) which supersedes all older Geoboxes (aka Geobox 1). The major difference is there are no feature specific templates (Settlement, River, Mountain range etc.) but just one master template which can handle all type of data. There are a couple of new features and many new fields making the template much more versatile so now it can be used for virtually any geography related feature without the need to create a specific template.

The switch to Geoboxes 2.0 is highly recommended as the new template has a much more effective code, which renders faster than the old one (with much smaller pre-expand size, it can be one third to one fourth of the pre-expand size of Geoboxes 1). To convert aa page from Geobox 1 to Geobox 2, there are two ways:

  • By changing the template header:
    {{Geobox Settlement
    becomes
    {{Geobox|Settlement
Although some field names have been changed in order to be unified, the old names are accepted too. For any settlement Geobox use {{Geobox|Settlement and set the settlement type (city, borough, town, village) in category field. Calling e.g. {{Geobox|City will work as well but it's not the recommended way (from technical reasons).
  • By a semi-automated tool which reorders the field names in the Geobox 2 style and also renames the few changed field names.

There are several unresolved issues at the Geobox talk page, please add your comments and of course any other ideas you might come with as well as bug reports. – Caroig (talk) 09:37, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

Plunketts Creek

As part of operation avoid thinking about Penn State, I will be printing and reading Plunketts Creek tomorrow at JCP. The red pen will be handy. I will let you know of my findings. How about those Cleveland Indians. I thought about you when I saw that they clinched. Dincher 04:04, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

I don't see why you had to remove my Johnny Appleseed reference to Wild Arms 5. Calamity Jane gets similar recognition in the Wild Arms series. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bokan (talkcontribs) 05:46, September 25, 2007 (I added the header - Ruhrfisch ><>°° 12:36, 25 September 2007 (UTC))
