Thank you for your recent good faith contribution to The Rocky Horror Picture Show. While the edit itself is most likely accurate, the reference used is not accepted at Wikipedia as a reliable source as the site is "user generated" information similar to Wikipedia. Is it possible the information could be referenced with a reliable source?--Amadscientist (talk) 19:10, 25 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'd love to, but I haven't found one yet. This is a bit awkward, as while I was there in 1990 and the new stereo prints were rolled out, I was unable to find better documentation than the stereo/mono differences listed at rockypedia.org, which I don't wish to use as I edit it. If you wish to remove the reference and leave it uncited, I won't be offended. The information as provided can be verified by walking into any US theater showing Rocky Horror - very few of the US mono prints still exist.
I'm not familiar with talk and apparently just messed this up somewhere else; sorry.
I'd be delighted to list another source, however at present have been unable to find one. Most of the discussion about stereo/mono prints is by Rocky Horror fans, of which I am one (I was there in 1990 when the stereo prints started to appear). So most of the sites that list differences between stereo/mono are fan sites; the best I could probably do is probably http://www.rockypedia.org, which I hesitate to use as it's the Rocky Horror FAQ, of which I'm the primary editor.
The information as listed is more accurate than simply leaving the notation that the US print doesn't include Superheroes; this can be verified by walking into almost any US theater that shows Rocky Horror, as very few of the mono prints have survived. I can't remember the last time I saw a print without Superheroes in the theater (unless it was someone playing the DVD with "US version" turned on, which is an entirely different matter than playing a print).Ruthfw (talk) 19:28, 25 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Many users at Wikipedia have first hand knowledge of events, but we should never be editing from strictly first hand knowledge alone. Many times such knowledge is the beginning of the research for the article but should always be used with reliable sourcing. Use of the other Wikis or user generated sites, fan sites ect. are not permitted as well but all contributions made in good faith are considered of value unless clearly one's point of view which this is clearly not. The information itself does appear to be accurate and I may well be able to source that given some time.--Amadscientist (talk) 19:39, 25 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
