Shane Frederick, I have blocked you for persistently editing Wikipedia links to point to different pages, but leaving text in the original article that doesn't make sense. You were warned many times to stop but did not so I have blocked you from editing temporarily, because you've made a mess of quite a few articles now and you need to understand what you're doing before you edit any more.

You're using the visual editor so I'm not sure exactly what you've seen on your screen while making these edits, but quite a few times now you've made an edit like this one where you edited a link to the page sports network which was "piped" so that it appears in the article as sports-oriented (a link to the same page but with different text), which was part of a sentence that read:

"NFL Network is an American sports-oriented pay television network that is owned by the National Football League (NFL)."

(I"ve shortened it a bit and removed all formatting except for the link.) I think you saw that the page sports network is a redirect to list of sports television channels because that's what you changed the link to, and that's fine as long as you keep the piped text, but your edit removed it. So after your edit, that sentence read:

"NFL Network is an American list of sports television channels pay television, television network that is owned by the National Football League (NFL)."

I hope you can see why that's not correct. It's bad grammar for one thing, but also the NFL Network is not a list of channels. It seems that in many cases you're "fixing" redirects by replacing the link with a link to the target page, what we call "bypassing" a redirect, but there are good reasons why you should not do this. Please have a look at the guideline at WP:DONOTFIXIT. If you'd like to experiment with different ways of creating a link or a redirect please use your sandbox, and always feel free to ask questions on an article's talk page, at the help desk, or by using the {{help me}} template.

Minor edits[edit]

Hello. Thanks for your contributions to Wikipedia! I clicked on your contributions out of curiosity, and I noticed you're marking most of your edits as minor, yet the ones I looked at aren't actually minor. It's an understandable mistake – I often did the same thing when I was starting out here.

The Wikipedia definition of minor is different to what most of us expect. I reviewed Help:Minor edit many times, trying to decide if the changes I was making were minor. It helped me to think of a minor edit as a change that a reader is unlikely to notice (unless it's reverting obvious vandalism: this also counts as minor). Maybe it fixes a typo, or corrects the format of a reference without adding any new information.
