Please help me with adding a company page to Wikipedia. We would like to add Kennards Self Storage. I am not sure, when reading literature about a Wiki page, whether it is a 'conflict of interest'? We note that we have seen other Storage company pages on Wiki. We would like to do the same for Kennards Self Storage. We feel there is history about Kennards Self Storage and would like to share this. In previous years we did try to make a wiki page but it was not approved. We would now like to try again. We do have a Wiki account under Kennards Self Storage. Thank you.

- I would like to help you with the creation of article. To help me help you, please accomplish these two steps.
- 1) Rename your account please -- accounts here belong to an individual and not a company, and the username should reflect this.
- 2) Please link me URLs to include as sources for the article. This is the first step for article creation, and I will share feedback.
- Thanks, Gryllida (talk) 06:38, 29 April 2019 (UTC)
- Some additional comments: Firstly, as Gryllida said, Wikipedia does not allow shared or "company" accounts. Your use of "we" when referring to yourself suggests that this account is shared. Please confirm that that's not the case; if necessary change the password. Only one person may have access to an account, ever, no one else - not your coworkers, not your boss, not friends or family. If you want your Wikipedia username to be associated with your company, a username such as "Sharon Munro at Kennards Self Storage" would be acceptable.
- Secondly, your previous account, User:Kennards, was blocked from editing both for the username and the promotional content of your past edits. See User talk:Kennards for details. For now I haven't blocked this account, but what you're doing here comes very close to block evasion, and other admins might disagree with me on whether a block is warranted.
- Writing about your company indeed is a conflict of interest. Please also review the disclosure requirements for paid editors and make sure you comply with them.
- As Gryllida indicated, Wikipedia content should be a neutral summary of what reliable third-party sources have reported about a topic. A Google News search didn't show much except some (mis)use of Kennards storage lockers to store arms caches and the likes of this piece. See the notability guideline at WP:CORP, particularly the part about significant coverage. Huon (talk) 07:44, 29 April 2019 (UTC)

[edit]Thanks Gryllida,
Thats very helpful. I will do as you have suggested and put the account in my name. The use of 'we' was merely a figure of speech, no one else has access to this account accept me.
Can i ask what you mean by this - "Please link me URLs to include as sources for the article. This is the first step for article creation, and I will share feedback." Do you mean a URL to the Kennards Self Storage web site or another URL to a source that mentions Knenards?
Once I have made these changes and you have looked at them, am i able to create the page or should I ask you about for further help regarding the content as well? I note your comments about third party sources.
Thank you.

Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:Kennards Self Storage
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Draft:Kennards Self Storage, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. creffett (talk) 02:28, 15 May 2019 (UTC)

Paid editing disclosure
[edit]Hello Sharon. Although you have disclosed an affiliation with the company with the {{UserboxCOI}} template, it is not quite enough. If you are paid by the company, then you fall under the category of a paid editor, which requires a mandatory higher level of disclosure. The full policy is at Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Please use the {{paid}} template to indicate that you are being paid by Kennards Self Storage to edit Wikipedia. Thank you. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 15:44, 15 May 2019 (UTC)
Hi, (paid editing disclosure moved to userpage --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 03:55, 16 May 2019 (UTC)) I am also trying to find out why the page I creeted yesterday was deleted, which parts of the page caused it to be deleted? I was told it sounded too much like an auto biography and advertising fro the company. But i am unclear as to what sections this was? I have been looking at another Wiki page for another storage company and the page i was trying to create was not to different to that, so I wonder why it was taken down? Thanks.

Sorry i should also mention that the other storage companys wiki page was published. Sharon Munro at Kennards Self Storage (talk) 02:23, 16 May 2019 (UTC)
- Which article did you look at? It might have some problems in terms of Wikipedia:Writing better articles#Tone and WP:Point of view. Or, did you list a range of products of your company or provide too many links from your company websites? --94rain Talk 02:47, 16 May 2019 (UTC)
Its the one for National Storage that has been published and Kennards Self Storage simply want to do the same sort of thing. Within the article i was trying to create for Kennards Self Storage that was deleted there were no links to our company web site at all. Thanks.
