Barnstar
[edit]The Resilient Barnstar | ||
I, Durova, award Skinny McGee the Resilient Barnstar for creating a new article that got highlighted at Did you know? after a hard journey through dispute resolution. DurovaCharge! 02:35, 6 April 2007 (UTC) |
Now I'll make you an offer: only one editor at Wikipedia has ever earned dual user awards from me. If you raise any page to good article status you can be the second. Warmly, DurovaCharge! 02:35, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
Inspiration
[edit]Just wanted to let you know, you've inspired me to create a new set of personal user awards that includes a special edition award you might like to try for: User:Durova/Triple crown winner's circle. DurovaCharge! 02:09, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
Image:Midnight syndicate promo photo.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Midnight syndicate promo photo.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. J Milburn 10:50, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
- I think, for the infobox, the logo would be the best bet. However, I agree that this image could find a place in the article, as you say, due to the ghosts and artistic nature of it, to demonstrate the image that the band has created for themselves. However, a lower resolution copy would be better. If you think it should be kept in this manner, write a sourced section (just a couple of lines, and it needn't have its own heading) about the imagery, and stick this image inline next to it. Orphaned non-free image (Image:13th hour cd cover.jpg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:13th hour cd cover.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 20:45, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
Kindermusik
[edit]I am in the process of adding a page for Kindermusik International which contains all their company blurb. I don't personally feel that this should be part of Wikipedia, but I will create it and then everybody can decide if this commercial company is worthy of a page. I think listing Kindermusik International within the definition of kindermusik is very confusing - there are a huge number of programmes in Germany and the UK which supply kindermusik and aren't run by Kindermusik International. Hope that helps.Sarcasmon 15:45, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
Removal of content from Nox Arcana Darklore Manor cd page
[edit]I noticed you removed some content from the Nox Arcana, Darklore Manor page, calling it original research. I referenced 3 published sources, so it is not original research. Plus, it's all part of the cd booklets. Also, just because a reference is old (like when a website is changed), it does not mean the article is invalid. I did find another source for you though for the Midnight Syndicate video. There's actually a few places hosting the video. I also found mention of the story in several interviews, and so I added some bit of detail on characters too. But I don't think it would be proper to post more Midnight Syndicate links on the Nox Arcana page. Thank you. Ebonyskye 18:59, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Midnight Syndicate
[edit]At the request of Ebonyskye I have reviewed the evidence page in the arbitration case and I am reasonably convinced that you are, or are associated with, Edward Douglas. As such, the prohibition against editing Midnight Syndicate and related articles (other bands, albums, etc) applies to you as well. Please do not edit these articles again. You may make comments and suggestions on the talk pages.
The arbitration case allows admins to ban editors from articles and talk pages, or even indefinitely from Wikipedia itself, for "aggressive biased editing." I don't see that from either of you, and I believe you can continue to have good input on the article talk pages. When you have a disagreement about sources or policy, you should try a request for comment or a request for third opinion, or Wikipedia:Village pump (assistance). These are mechanisms to attract the attention of neutral editors to give their opinions on disputes or make edits for you. You can request enforcement of the arbitration decision at WP:AE should it be necessary in the future. If after a reasonable period of time you can demonstrate that you and Ebonyskye can edit cooperatively and collaboratively without edit warring, you can appeal the probations and ask that they be lifted. Good luck. Thatcher131 14:33, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for the reminder, Thatcher131. I made two quick edits to remove inappropriate, unreliably sourced content from the Darklore Manor article, then remembered that I wasn't supposed to be doing it, so I stopped. Sorry about that! - Skinny McGee 14:37, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
Midnight Syndicate
[edit]Almost a year ago, Thatcher contacted you regarding the arbitration case Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Midnight Syndicate. His warning made it clear that you were not to edit these articles again, due to your close involvement with the band. A user just pointed out on the incidents noticeboard that you have made several edits since then. This is to notify you that you are under ArbCom ban from editing any article in relation to Midnight Syndicate, as you were informed previously, and further editing will result in a block according to the "Enforcement" section of the ArbCom case. You're welcome to comment on the discussion at ANI, should you have any questions. Hersfold (t/a/c) 02:28, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
- P.S. - To clarify, you are welcome to make suggestions and discuss improvements to those articles on their talk pages. Sorry for missing that point. Hersfold (t/a/c) 02:36, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
Hello Skinny McGee. Though you don't seem to be currently active on Wikipedia, your editing restriction is being discussed at Wikipedia:RFARB#Request for clarification: Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Midnight Syndicate. EdJohnston (talk) 15:21, 19 May 2009 (UTC)
Arbitration motion regarding Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Midnight Syndicate
[edit]Per a motion at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Clarification:
The remedies (1 and 2) ordered by this Committee in Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Midnight Syndicate are suspended for a period of 90 days. During this period, the editors who were previously restricted by these remedies may edit without topic restriction. However, they are instructed to comply with all applicable Wikipedia policies and guidelines in their editing, particularly those discussed in the original arbitration decision. Each of these editors is also instructed to edit these articles from only a single account.
During the 90-day trial period, should any of the previously restricted editors engage in edit-warring, POV editing, or other misconduct on the articles in question, any uninvolved administrator may reinstate the topic ban against that editor or impose another appropriate sanction. Unless the misconduct is blatant, a warning to the editor should first be given.
As the end of the 90-day period approaches, a request for permanent termination or modification of the remedies may be submitted for consideration by this Committee.

Disambiguation link notification for September 11
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Midnight Syndicate, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Steven King (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Disambiguation link fixing one-day contest
[edit]I have decided to put on a mini-contest within the November 2013 monthly disambiguation contest, on Saturday, November 23 (UTC). I will personally give a $20 Amazon.com gift card to the disambiguator who fixes the most links on that server-day (see the project page for details on scoring points). Since we are not geared up to do an automated count for that day, at 00:00, 23 November 2013 (UTC) (which is 7:00 PM on November 22, EST), I'll take a screenshot of the project page leaderboard. I will presume that anyone who is not already listed on the leaderboard has precisely nine edits. At 01:00, 24 November 2013 (UTC) (8:00 PM on November 23, EST), I'll take a screenshot of the leaderboard at that time (the extra hour is to give the board time to update), and I will determine from that who our winner is. I will credit links fixed by turning a WP:DABCONCEPT page into an article, but you'll have to let me know me that you did so. Here's to a fun contest. Note that according to the Daily Disambig, we currently have under 256,000 disambiguation links to be fixed. If everyone in the disambiguation link fixers category were to fix 500 links, we would have them all done - so aim high! Cheers! bd2412 T 02:25, 18 November 2013 (UTC)
