I am not an expert in these things, but I believe that a cut and paste from an external website can only be done when that party explicitly "gives permission" to do so. In this case, I have seen administrators (I am not an admin, not yet anyway) tell the person who is claiming to be the presumed copyright holder to use the "email this user" option in the toolbox to send mail to an administrator from an email address that is associated with the organization which owns copyright to confirm that they really are the owners of the copyright. So I think the librarians should get an account first, set their email to their Mosman council email, and then email the administrator to verify that they really are the copyright owner and are happy for it to be put on the wikipedia. After that, if it's not encyclopedic, we can massage the unsuitable parts, in which case it wouldn't be a copyvio and we wouldn't need to bother with the permissions. I'm not his PR, and I've never met him, but I did write the wikipedia article on him. At least you had the courage to add your name to your comment on the talk page... Everything is accurate and with the best intentions for wikipedia, not for Simon Mayo. Regards. Bentley Banana 16:47, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
- This was in response to observations on the article's neutrality, and I provided this feedback to Bentley Banana --Steve 06:23, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
- Fair points made, now that you've put all those phrases in a list. The article wasn't intended to be overpraiseworthy though. Cheers for pointing it out. Bentley Banana 10:55, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
Sydney
[edit]What makes you feel that you can remove content with out a reason, or discussing it on the Sydney talk page? There is absoloutly nothing wrong with this, it merely gives one an insight on the name of a Sydney resident (just like and Londoner or a New Yorker) “A resident of Sydney is sometimes colloquially referred to as a Sydneysider.” Also, Sydney is actually widely renowned for it’s climate, that is why many of the tourists flock to the city in summer Jackp 09:43, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
- This was in response to some edits that drew the ire of a serial vandal Jackp, later indefinitely blocked.--Steve 06:25, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

Gay and Lesbian Kingdom of the Coral Sea
[edit]Hello, please do not remove the links in the article - they are essential to understanding the Kingdom's history. We already discussed the issue extensely, there is no need to wage a new edit war between the various factions. Thanks for your understanding. --Vanrozenheim 01:28, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
- I'd removed the links in reponse to this call for help --Steve 06:35, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

Nicole Kidman
[edit]Can you please show me the guidelines regarding trivia and wikipedia? Would be great to know why information is removed related to a piece of information relating to her movie and a broadcasted piece of information from a entertainment source who is known to be friends with the subject in question. - This was in response to this edit [1]. I made this reponse, which Mikecraig threatened to report as harassment. --Steve 06:42, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

Ed/ Joke - Look it up
[edit]Actually, Ed does check it reguraly, as any Get This fan would know from listening to their show every day.....and its called a 'joke', maybe you should read about it in wikipedia in your free time. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Possy3926 (talk • contribs) 21:10, 26 September 2006.

Nicole Kidman-American or Australian born
[edit]Your input is requested at the talk page of this article under the section "American born". Please reply there and not at my talk page. The continual reverts on the question have been disruptive and need to be resolved.Amerindianarts 17:16, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
You may want to reply in the discussion section at (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Mediation_Cabal/Cases/2006-10-08_Nicole_Kidman), a page created for mediation to end the revert war. Amerindianarts 01:41, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
- I have left my comments on the mediation page --Steve 06:57, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
Why do you think this is blatant advertising and not information about a gallery which is of note as it has had quite a lot of media coverage of late through a controversial show? Tyrenius 05:28, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
- You might like to discuss on the article talk page. Tyrenius 05:33, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
- Please see Talk:Spectrum London. Tyrenius 06:05, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
- This was in response to my marking the article as a speedy delete for non-notability. Apparently it is inherently notable as a result of a controversial exhibition. --Steve 06:57, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

Hi, I deleted the db-bio tag from Tom Donahue; see Tom Donahue.
There was an earlier article about him; it was deleted only because the text was a copyvio from the rock & roll hall of fame site. -- Jim Douglas (talk) (contribs) 02:47, 12 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit]Thanks. I was amazed that it was kind of messy, seeing that she is sort of an important Australian figure. It's a work in progress though. :) Ladida 06:37, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

Logos on userpage
[edit]Per Wikipedia policy, fair use images can only be used in article namespace. See Wikipedia:Removal of fair use images. So please remove the five logos you have on your userpage... You can simply do it like this [[:image:example.jpg]]. Cheers, Renata 03:52, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
- Done. That will teach me to play with the controversial gallery tag! --Steve 05:06, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
Steve, the discussion here seems to be leaning toward a merge into Deera Square. If you'd be willing to reconsider your deletion vote, we could probably move to an early close, merge and be done with this (I'm the original nominator, and support a merge rather than deletion myself). -- nae'blis 15:33, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
- Changed to Merge and Redirect, thanks for the follow-up. --Steve 23:34, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for being open to new information! I closed it as an uncontroversial merge/redirect. -- nae'blis 03:55, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

Anthony Kidman
[edit]Hey Slf67, can you please cite a source for your info that Dr Kidman died in 2001. If you Google his name [3], you'll find references which state he was alive at least as recently as October 24, 2006 [4]. Please don't readd this information without a reliable source, per WP:BLP. Thanks, Sarah Ewart (Talk) 01:49, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
- Good point, I was only trimming the prior edit that listed his full DOB/DOD and the comment that it wasn't necessary in Nicole Kidman's article, only her father's artcile, which was unlikely to ever exist. --Steve 01:53, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
- No problem. I noticed after I left the above message that it seemed to have come originally from an anon. Any unsourced information like that should be removed until it can be sourced. I'm quite certain that if Dr Kidman had died it would have been reported in the news because he is a well known clinical psychologist who is often used as an expert source in the Australian media. Cheers, Sarah Ewart (Talk) 01:59, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
Regarding your edit summary: "I'm confused how a 2001 search failed to find the name Birrna though, given Gippsland is in Vic?", I was confused too initially. But it does make sense. The brief for Wesson (2001) was to search historical archives, especially the field notebooks of early surveyors, for mentions of indigenous names of flora and flora that were unknown to linguists. Presumably "Birnna" was already known to linguists from sources other than historical archives e.g. the published writings of contemporary anthropologists or linguists. [edit]On an unrelated matter, I recoded the Template:Infobox Hospital, but I am unclear on how to categorise Australisn hospitals - are they all part of Medicare (Australia) in the same way almost all UK hospitals are part of the National Health Service ? Or is the system more like the US with hospitals essentially being all private, for which patients are covered by insurance schemes or Medicare ? David Ruben Talk 03:53, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit]I'm just upgrading and shortening (standard filmography box is visually atrocious and too long) the filmography. All relevants films in her career are there. Some links in the old filmography box even hasn't a link. If you want, complete the box navigation, do not delete it, please.201.53.48.95 05:47, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

Re: Main Page
[edit]Congratulations on getting a Banksia FA on the Main Page --Steve (Slf67) talk 00:24, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks! Regarding your edit summary comment - "I thought it was the second one" - I'm not sure I know what you mean. Banksia brownii was featured ages ago but has only just made it onto the main page; Banksia integrifolia was recently featured and is currently deep in the TFA queue.
