Disambiguation link notification for April 23[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Family, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Christopher Harris. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

National varieties of English[edit]

Information icon In a recent edit to the page Overseas Chinese, you changed one or more words or styles from one national variety of English to another. Because Wikipedia has readers from all over the world, our policy is to respect national varieties of English in Wikipedia articles.

For a subject exclusively related to the United Kingdom (for example, a famous British person), use British English. For something related to the United States in the same way, use American English. For something related to India, use Indian English. For something related to another English-speaking country, such as Canada, Australia, or New Zealand, use the variety of English used there. For an international topic, use the form of English that the original author of the article used.

In view of that, please don't change articles from one version of English to another, even if you don't normally use the version in which the article is written. Respect other people's versions of English. They, in turn, should respect yours. Other general guidelines on how Wikipedia articles are written can be found in the Manual of Style. If you have any questions about this, you can ask me on my talk page or visit the help desk. Thank you. JohnBlackburnewordsdeeds 15:39, 5 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I know you mean well, but I have had to revert your edits to this article because they inserted some inaccuracies. For example, Harvey degenerated into a tropical wave, not a tropical storm. Additionally, it is not correct to say "Moving generally northwestwards, Harvey's intensification phase..." because the subject of that sentence is the intensification phase, not Harvey itself.

I have already reached three reverts of your edits. Please take heed of this before making further edits.--Jasper Deng (talk) 19:17, 27 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Don't leave any more messages on my talk page. It is correct to say moving generally northwards. ONly one inaccuracy maybe. Suede Cat (talk) 19:24, 27 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
You don't seem to have gotten the point, which is that your version amounted to saying "Harvey's intensification phase was moving generally northwestwards" - an absurd statement. "Strength" is also not preferable (and not equivalent) to "strengthening", which is what the sentence clearly meant. The process of gaining strength is not the same as strength itself.
Some changes you made, such as dehyphenating "re-gained", were indeed good, but I want to ensure that your copyediting does not create more work for others.--Jasper Deng (talk) 19:30, 27 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Arguing is not why I am here. Change my edits as much as you want. Don't worry about how many changes with me. It is better the article says the right thing. Suede Cat (talk) 19:48, 27 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for March 29[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Chris Sacca, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Irish (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

TheFamousPeople.com as a source[edit]

Hi Suede Cat. I noticed that you recently used thefamouspeople.com as a source for biographical information in Chris Sacca. Please note that there is general consensus that thefamouspeople.com does not meet the reliable sourcing criteria for the such information. (Discussions here and here). If you disagree, let's discuss it. Thanks. --Ronz (talk) 15:48, 29 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Ronz the pages you linked to make clear why this source cannot be used. Thanks. Suede Cat (talk) 04:09, 1 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
