Americanophile moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Americanophile, is not suitable as written to remain published. It seems to be just a dictionary definition. Please add some more content, and referencesz, and then it'll be ready for mainspace I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Mound Builders

[edit]

I've deleted the section because it isn't a summary of the main article on the Kinderhook plates, which is should be. See Wikipedia:Summary style Doug Weller talk 12:43, 8 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

So should I summarize all of the report and rewrite the entry?

I am trying not to spread misinformation about my church. Thaynetubbs (talk) 22:51, 8 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The content you added was copied from another website, and thus was a violation of Wikipedia's copyright policy. Please don't add copyright material to Wikipedia. — Diannaa (talk) 13:04, 9 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Ohh so I have to rewrite it differently? Thaynetubbs (talk) 19:48, 9 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. All material you add to Wikipedia needs to be written in your own words please. — Diannaa (talk) 20:12, 9 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

How's this?

The Kinderhook Plates were a group of metal plates that were allegedly discovered in a mound near the town of Kinderhook, Illinois in 1843. They were said to be brass plates with ancient characters etched into them. Some members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (also known as the Mormon Church) hoped that the plates would prove to be significant and that the church's founder, Joseph Smith, would be able to translate them. However, there is no evidence that Smith ever made a translation of the plates or showed any further interest in them after examining them. In the 1980s, a metal plate from the group was subjected to electronic and chemical analysis, which revealed that it was made in the 19th century and proved that it was a hoax. Looks okay from a copyright point of view. — Diannaa (talk) 22:58, 9 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, also what resource do you guys use to see if anything is copyrighted? Thaynetubbs (talk) 06:48, 10 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
We have a bot that checks all edits over a certain size, and we have a tool that can be used to compare Wikipedia articles with online sources[. — Diannaa (talk) 15:23, 10 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Dang that's pretty cool, thanks Thaynetubbs (talk) 16:43, 10 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
